What does this suggestion change/add/remove:
This suggestion is looking to remove job titles from the TAB menu and turn it into a basic job name, for example, all Nu-7 Jobs will just say Nu-7 Operative in the TAB menu, all D-Class jobs (Scout, Brute, Type-Blue) will say D-Class personnel, and all CI Jobs will say CI Operative, etc. ( )

Has something similar been suggested before? If so, why is your suggestion different?

I don't believe so, at least not recently

Possible Positives of the suggestion (At least 2):

- Prevents a lot of metagaming that happens on the server because some jobs are very distinct and alert people to some stuff (Example Type-Blue dclass and CI)

- Adds a layer of uncertainty about what you are facing, and could lead to cool new tactics being used on the server to escape, raid, and combat in general, without worrying about your enemy knowing and preparing for you before you even go ahead with your plan

- Encourages communication between people of the same faction to know what resources they have available specifically, yet still having a rough idea of their capabilities.

Possible Negatives of the suggestion:

I don't see any negatives coming out of this change

Based on the Positives and Negatives, why should this suggestion be accepted:

This suggestion should be accepted because it causes no harm and only improves the quality of the server

-Support.

You listed zero negatives, but a big one is seeing who your boss is to get stuff approved. Especially for the non-whitelist departments like RSD, Med, or GenSec. Being able to know what specific ranks are on only truly matters for Juggernauts and TBs. How would this work with Ethics/O5s? What about ISD where knowing if a high rank is on might be valuable to get trained?

Hm.
One other issue with this is that CI need to be able to see DEA CL4s for raid auth.

I think if at all possible, this should be done for some jobs, but not others - Maybe just finely split them up, make them vaguer than they are, but not so vague to the point that all DEA are just "DEA." Off the top of my head, just "DEA" and "DEA CL4" wouldn't be as detrimental to CI.

As for this:

I mean for cases like this, I think it could encourage... You know, actually finding out IC via comms/radio. IMO I feel like using the leaderboard for that, for an RP purpose is very metagamey. Failing that, vague-but-not-too-vague as I stated above. Maybe you could rationalise that certain ranks would know whether their superiors were on-site or not. Generally with MTFs, you'd be able to tell via TS/radios and rationalise some IC reasoning like "I know my CO's voice and heard them in externals," etc. But you can consider distinctions like "Nu7" & "Nu7 CO." Something like that.

For Ethics/O5, could just do something like "Foundation Command" for all jobs. Whoever needs to know (AO, CL4s, etc.), can find out IC.

To an extent.

damn, not like you could just ask in comms instead of needing to metagame it

Hola, this suggestion was already accepted back in the day (I do not know why it still isn't implemented, content please rush your devs to do it!)
