Why are you applying for Medical Consultant?
I believe I would make an excellent medical consultant for a few reasons. The first is that I thoroughly enjoy helping, healing, and supporting the people around me, and I believe this would be a great opportunity for me to provide a high level of support to all fellow medical staff. I really enjoy being able to heal those who need it, and I operate at a very high level when under stress, making me a great fit for the role. I would greatly appreciate the opportunity to be a consultant so I can effectively continue to help improve the site, and provide a high level of care to everyone who needs it. I think being a medical professional of any level is so important and being able to uphold the duties and expectations is an honour. I sometimes find that consultants can be challenging to reach, since they are often very busy and running around helping many people. I would love the opportunity to be there more often and really pay close attention to prioritizing tasks and requests. I think my talent would be very useful to help increase the effectiveness of medbay and continue to provide the high level of care and attention to all medical staff and patients. I take my current role as Sr. Doctor very seriously and I make a very clear point to uphold high standards, follow the rules appropriately, and complete tasks efficiently.
What makes you suitable for Medical Consultant?:
I am knowledgeable, efficient, responsible, and always looking to learn new things. I am highly inquisitive and always seeking new ways to improve my processes through trial and error, research, and by maintaining a growth mindset. I find that sometimes people in a higher level role can feel a little unapproachable and it’s easy to feel intimidated when you’re trying to learn new things in a lower role. I believe that I would provide a level of kindness and approachability that would truly inspire and encourage young trainees and doctors to become the absolute best medical professionals they can be. Being a medical professional is often a thankless job, but one I'm grateful to do. There's something so rewarding about bringing people back from the brink of death and providing intensive healing to everyone on site. I feel especially fulfilled when I'm able to heal someone who has just been in combat and needs urgent medical care, giving them the nutrients and medicines they need to recover as quickly and seamlessly as possible, so they can get back out there and keep doing the amazing job of keeping us all safe.
Please explain an in-game medical procedure of your choice:
Something I enjoy doing, although time consuming, is completing weapons permit psych evaluations. I find the questions to be very interesting, and it helps me get to know the applicant a bit better. This process consists of meeting with the applicant and asking a series of questions relative to their behaviours, mental state, relationships, reasoning as to why they’d like a weapons permit, and assessing their demeanor overall.
I believe myself to be an excellent judge of character and reviewing the responses to each question gives me a very good idea of who this person is and how they will behave if they are approved for the permit. Of course it is a significant responsibility to be in charge of such an integral assessment, but I don’t take this responsibility lightly. With my keen ability to discern appropriate behaviours/responses and read a person for who they are, I know I’m choosing the right applications to approve and deny.
What are the responsibilities of the Medical Consultant in RP?:
Medical Consultants have such an important role in the medical department. They exist to help keep order and functionality within the dept. Consultants are there to support and encourage teamwork and collaboration between doctors internally, and with other departments as well.
Consultants exemplify day to day leadership and show up as a strong point of contact for those who need support throughout medical situations. Medical Consultants are a huge part of helping to keep our medbay a safe and productive space. They provide much appreciated care and support to everyone who enters at any time. When available, they are often very kind, hardworking, and willing to help anyone who needs it.
It is also known that consultants are dedicated to maintaining structure with all medical staff, upholding the code of ethics, and fostering a positive, encouraging environment for every level of medical care professional. Consultants work hard to help heal others, as well as teach, guide, and support young doctors in order to put them on a path to success.
Please give some lore about your Medical Consultant character and what storylines they would be involved in:
I am just one part of the great Scarpetto family. The pleasure of working alongside Grandpa Loth and my adopted sister Kayab is truly what helps motivate me to be the best doctor and person I can be. I don’t remember too much from before I came here aside from finding and adopting my sister, and a vague memory of some kind of dog, although I can’t remember their name.. I have some other small memories from childhood like the smell of a lemon pie, and the way water looks when it moves with the wind. Sometimes when I see blood I get a glimpse of hunting a deer. I remember how it looked, how it felt, and how beautiful it was when it gracefully escaped grandpa's shotgun.
I've spent much of my time here trying to absorb as much information as possible, learning from as many people as I can, and trying new things. I make a conscious effort to support others whenever I can, and stand up for the mistreated. I also know that sometimes when people behave in an unsavory way, they're really just having personal struggles that they aren't sure how to cope with so I try not to judge too harshly, although I do always encourage them to get help when appropriate, and be kind to others. I’ve learned a lot from my family of researchers like how to write an effective document of any kind, how to cook a good meal, and that some SCPs are really friends, not foe. Having the ability to work alongside my family has helped provide me with strong levels of support, and it reminds me to be kind to everyone because we never know where someone came from, or the kind of day they’re having. Overall I’m grateful to be here and I’m really excited to see what I can make of myself here.
