Why are you applying for Internal Security Inspector?
I would really like to make a difference in the internal security department. I believe I have a skillset that would bring a lot of value to the department and help push it to the next level. Throughout my tenure at the foundation, ISD has been the place I have spent the most of my time and its something I genuinely enjoy doing. I get great enjoyment from watching justice be done and finding out the real truth behind situations. It feels like the natural progression to me.
What makes you suitable for Internal Security Inspector?:
For starters, I am a calm and level headed person who can think on his feet. I try to look at everything which is in front of me and make a decision based on facts. I also really try to push roleplay forward and do things that are not always the same each time. For example, I dont always just throw someone in a cell if they do something minor, ill talk to them about it, maybe make them do a few laps around the MTF loop, get them to do some training or just give them a warning. Unless someone is truly just being malicious or rude, putting them in a cell for 10 minutes wont always have the same impact or stick with them as much.
One thing I think is useful is I am generally confident and experienced in the courtroom. In a different site, I regularly attended tribunals and I am very comfortable in that environment. I know the procedures and strive to ensure the correct and just outcome is served. It would be my personal goal to improve ISD's reputation as a department who wins their tribunals due to being prepared beforehand, confident in the trial and ready for any curveball the defence could throw.
I think operations are a really powerful tool in our departments toolbelt and I really want to work so that there is always an operation that all agents are able to do and is engaging and productive. I want every agent to be empowered to do operations and to enjoy doing them. I think getting them engaged at an early stage will be incredibly beneficial to the overall quality of the department.
Generally, I have experienced all the core departments of the foundation and am very familar with the FLC, so I know how it should be applied and what department members should be doing.
Finally, I personally believe I am generally an easy person to talk to, and I try to be as approachable as possible. I think that helps a lot with general trust of the rest of the foundation and helping things like interviews and interrogations go a lot smoother.
What do you think describes an ideal Internal Security Inspector?:
An ideal Inspector is someone who leads by example. They are proactive in the department and are trying to push for everyone in it to be the best they can. They should be helping guide the lower ranks and not always taking control, however they should know when the right time is to step in if needed. They should also not be afraid of educating other members of ISD if they are not doing something quite right and ensuring the reputation of the department is upheld. Finally they need to be someone management can trust to behave sensibly, help lead the department and push for improvements wherever they see they can.
How many major, roleplay-serving documents have you written? What makes a document of this nature good in terms of quality?:
Honestly not a tonne, but this is something I would be looking to change as an inspector. I have several ideas for operations that can help push roleplay in the right direction and I would love to contribute more to the tribunal process. Maybe by working with OILA (my preferred office) to create detailed prosecution guides, or trying to liase more closely with the ethics committee.
Generally, I believe the most important thing should be that these documents are well formatted, easy to read and generally make sense. It helps nobody by making needlessly verbose or difficult to understand documents. They should be straight to the point, have enough detail to send the message / information that is required and not waffle endlessly.
What are the responsibilities of the Internal Security Inspector in RP?:
The key responsibilities are as follows:
- Training new agents & operatives on how to do their jobs and become a valuable resource to the department
- Creating and leading interesting and engaging operations, and managing them / keeping on top of the submissions.
- Keeping an eye out for rising talent in the department, rewarding them appropriately and making it known to the other leadership members
- Being able to take the lead in complex investigations to get the right outcome
- Being someone that other agents can reach out to, ask questions about and get guidance from
- Being a CL4 member of staff, comes with its own responsibilities that an inspector has to carry out on top of their regular duties
- Represent ISD as someone who is respectable and trusted.
I believe I truly understand the role and can bring a fresh vision to the department. I also would focus solely on this whilst on site at the foundation. I dont have any other commitments and would give it my all. I genuinely enjoy a lot of the roleplay and experiences that can come from ISD and also really love to help others be the best they can, and so that is something I will try and do. Without a lot of the help of other inspectors and commissioners, I would not be where I am now and I would not be an as good agent, so I would strive to share that with the new agents and improve the department as a whole.
I also enjoy paperwork and have a lot of experience with google docs, so can help out a fair bit there.
Please give some lore about your Internal Security Inspector character and what storylines they would be involved in:
The formative years
Kyle was born in the Zimbabwe to british expats. Due to rising tensions in the area, at an early age, his parents went back to the UK and settled there in London. Kyle always had an interest and law the rule of law, so got a degree in Law from Kings College London. After graduating, Kyle struggled to find employment, so whilst applying, volunteered as a magistrate in the British court system. Eventually a law firm based in Canada offered Kyle a relocation package to work at their firm as an associate.
Foundation recruitment & Early career
During his time as an Associate, he gained the watchful eye of the foundation who were looking for potential ISD agents. After an extended period of observation, interviews and background checks, the role was offered to Kyle who accepted.
Kyle spent the early stages of his career as an agent working on various cases for the department concerning misbehavior, neglect of containment procedures, and corruption within the Foundation's employees. Even though he began as a secondary member of the investigation teams, he soon showed rare talent in recognising contradictions in the accounts of witnesses and finding hidden facts. His involvement in a number of successful convictions of junior and high-ranking individuals helped Kyle build a reputation of a meticulous and difficult to decieve investigator.
Future ISD career
Looking forward. kyle looks to really develop his skills as a prosecutor within the ISD department, building tough and solid cases that are very difficult to defend against. Tribunals generally have been a mixed bag recently and Kyle really wants to progress this deeply, improve relations with the ethics committee and try and create as much adjacent roleplay around that as possible A lot of people I think can shy away from tribunals as they can take a lot of time and effort, but to Kyle, they are the shining example of the rule of law in action and something we should be proud of as a foundation.
As an Agent, Kyle gained a reputation as someone with a keen eye for investigation, but also being a formidable opponent as a prosecutor. The Ethics Committee took a liking to his approach to prosecution; always being fair but also strict when needed, and they offered him a role as assistant.
