Why are you applying for Site Advisor?
I would really love to join the Site Administration team and do my best from within, hoping to climb the ranks in SA and have meaningful interactions with all types of players, whether OOC or IC. I hope to learn a lot from this position, but also to apply skills I have already learned. I feel like I could have a positive impact as an on-site Advisor and interact with a variety of people with the intention of helping them.
What makes you suitable for Site Administration?
I'm able to handle disputes both IC and OOC, acting as a mediator and stepping in whenever possible. I believe this is an important trait for members of Site Admin, as they are bound to witness many arguments from their perspective. To show this, I will explain the step-by-step process I would take to de-escalate or resolve arguments.
- If the tensions are rising, have a short cooling-off period before continuing. Aimed at preventing escalation, but also puts the attention on having the communications be more precise rather than emotional.
- Allow both sides to present their perspectives/ideas in a controlled environment. If the discussion becomes unproductive or emotional, then I would speak with each party separately before continuing.
- After both sides have provided their perspectives (and evidence, if applicable), I would do my best to reach a fair, unbiased conclusion. The outcome will be communicated without antagonising the "losing" side.
- If there are any follow-up issues related to this argument, they will be handled individually, as they create unnecessary tension.
I'm able to work independently in situations due to the nature of my job as a Site Admin; there will be times when I need to act on my own. Whether it is to make a temporary decision and later discuss it with the team (if necessary), or simply to get a situation under control. I will mention that I'm still able to work within a team and work alongside others in RP situations.
I'm responsive to feedback by acknowledging and addressing any issues that do occur. I am able to work on myself, whether OOC or IC, always striving to improve, as long as people are willing to reach out to me and let me know about any issues.
I'm able to handle documentation, both IC and OOC. I will mention that when it comes to creating templates from scratch, that is my main weakness, but I can repurpose existing document templates and work from there. I attempt to be informative in any documentation work, to avoid any loopholes, and to make it easy to understand.
I believe I am an approachable person. I tend to be very responsive to individual requests, regardless of what they are, and for any requests over comms, from my perspective, I have shown I am happy to resolve any issues that get brought forward.
I'm very well aware of the current Site-65 policies and departmental policies, with the basic information memorised while knowing where to look if I can't remember something overly specific.
As an ECA, I believe I have demonstrated most of these skills.
What are the responsibilities of Site Administration in RP?
- Appointment of Department Directors & MTF Commanders. (ISD, O-1 and A-1 are an exception)
- Authorisation of Advanced Armoury (ensuring to follow both IC and OOC rules set for them)
- Coordinating combative personnel during active codes and ensuring people are actively assisting with the codes.
- Call for ERT when necessary. (Should be used when a breach is overwhelming the players or when multiple SCPs are breaching into LCZ/EZ)
- Calling for Code Black (If LCZ/HCZ are overwhelmed + if there is safe passage through EZ for personnel to evacuate)
- Being there to close Blastdoors, initiate FSL and Tesla Gates.
- Acting as a liaison for departments, creating a point of contact and assisting the liaised departments when necessary. (without overstepping)
- Acting as a point of contact for personnel who may have issues with department/MTF leads.
- Watching over Department/MTF Leads, as noted above, while being observant of any issues yourself.
- Assisting with the ongoing monthly reviews that have been added by Site Admin to score departments effectively based on the facts provided.
- Supervise GoI relations (emphasis on supervise, as most issues should be handled through DEA)
- Authorising area closures for training, research or events.
- Managing Policies, reviewing both Site-65 policies and departmental policies. Suggesting any revisions, and bringing up any issues.
- Staying in contact with personnel across the site to be up to date on any ongoing issues and to resolve them effectively as soon as possible.
- Managing departmental relations and seeking ways to improve them. (Would be best done between the 2 SA that are liaising with said departments)
- Look to create engaging scenarios/orders for departments to get invested in, as doing the same things over and over can get quite boring.
- Working closely with the O5 Council and Ethics Committee when reviewing Site-Wide Policies, and staying in contact with them about any issues that may affect server health.
- Acting as a guide for players in RP situations, whether it is for new players learning the roleplay environment or players who might have misunderstood a policy/situation.
Please give some lore about your Site Administration character and what storylines they would be involved in:
- Born in the UK, Thomas Specter was fully raised there and decided to study abroad by moving to the USA. The subject he chose was History, always invested in the actions of the past and applying earlier concerns to his own actions.
- With his knowledge, he would apply to join the military's Intelligence Corps. This was made possible by his master's degree in History, during which he received most of his training in intelligence gathering and planning.
- He would join the U.S. Army Intelligence and Security Command, getting more resources to work with and actually working with Commanders and other partners in the Intelligence Community. SCP Foundation would begin monitoring him due to reports of mission success and a name that kept popping up.
- After seeing the man in action themselves, the SCP Foundation would begin the recruitment process. Slowly explaining the anomalies and how they wanted to utilise his tactical prowess in assisting them. As a test, Thomas Specter was given access to specific SCP Documents, learned every small detail about them, and was then shown footage from an ERT unit. He would be asked what decisions he would make based on his knowledge, and that would be compared to the action shown. Most of the time, he would agree with the footage, but at times, he was either unable to answer or disagreed with the action. This wouldn't be seen as a failure, but it opened the door to a potential operative leading ERT members into sites and having them advised by others.
- Over time, Thomas would show his value by statistically improving the efficiency of ERT - the difference may not be considered massive, but an improvement is still great in the eyes of the foundation. This resulted in him being recognised and offered a position as a Site Advisor on one of the SCP Foundation's more dangerous sites.
- The character would know the value of teamwork and its importance, so I believe this character will be involved in improving relations. Aside from this, the character will appear mostly friendly in day-to-day situations but may seem cold and calculating when dealing with codes and departmental issues, leading to harsh action.
Edit: I would also look to create more orders for departments + assistants, as I know the assistants' orders haven't been used after the knowledge reset.
