What does this suggestion change/add/remove:
The goal for this suggestion is to merge rule 2.01 into 1.07 as Character Separation is a form of mixing.

1.07 Breaking Character (Mixing)- Breaking character is the term used for mixing IC and OOC-related topics together in-character. Bringing up rules in character is classified as 'breaking character', and it will not be tolerated. This is a RP server, and you should, therefore, always stay in-character.

2.01 Character Separation - It is crucial to maintain a clear distinction between In-Character and Out-Of-Character actions and emotions.

Has something similar been suggested before? If so, why is your suggestion different?:
I don't believe so.

Possible Positives of the suggestion (At least 2):
The goal of this is to aid in tackling the ever growing problem of conflating IC and OOC within the playerbase. On UK for example, there is a steep rise in this issue and pulling the two rules together may aid staff in the enforcement of tackling mixing/character separation.
This will also aid in less rule bloat as it has been condensed down more. (A rule review is kinda needed anyway)

Possible Negatives of the suggestion:
The only negative I can foresee is the increase in warnings and punishments, but that in itself should begin to remedy the issue we have across the community at large.

Based on the Positives & Negatives, why should this suggestion be accepted:
Regardless of whatever level of seriousness RP is, mixing and conflating IC/OOC together just creates an incredibly shit RP environment at any level. Other RP communities I have historically and recently been a part of have dealt with the mixing/character separation issue by having a broader scope and less tolerance for it. I hope soon this can be sorted for CN, otherwise Site-9 might be... interesting :freeze:

RULE SUGGESTION RESPONSE
Thank you for submitting this suggestion.

Following discussion, this suggestion will be denied.

The reasoning is as follows:
While we understand the confusion, these are completely separate rules.
Mixing handles breaking character by mentioning Discord, the server in general, etc.
On the other hand, character separation handles players taking things personally in-game and being unable to separate themselves from the roleplay taking place.

The merging of these rules would not affect moderation well, as they are already both enforced.
Character Separation is also more of a severe case typically, and would warrant more than a standard mixing warn.
Furthermore, we believe it would create additional confusion between the two when they are already mixed up as is.

For these reasons, the rule suggestion will be denied and will not be implemented.
