What Ethics Committee role are you applying for, and why:
- Ethics Committee Member. I am applying for ECM because I would like to be more involved in the decision making that shapes the foundation's operations that define our ethical standards. I hope to be more engaged in collaboration and RP with other departments where ISD would usually not get involved in. I hope to lead the departments I would be overseeing with the same strength that I have lead ISD with if accepted.
What makes you the best candidate for the Ethics Committee?:
- I currently bring a lot of expertise and knowledge with my current role as the Director of ISD. I have good standing with all department leadership. I have also taken care of decision making (some tougher decisions than others) around the department to improve operational workflow. I have assisted in bringing down the walls between ISD and other departments with the assistance of the great leadership team we have at ISD. I have assisted in bringing ISD into a more positive position within the foundation with the help of Tommy. I would like to expand on that as an ECM. I am very level-headed when it comes to decision making and I am fair when it comes to actions I take. I always make myself available to those who report to me and respond to their needs in a timely fashion.
What are the responsibilities of the Ethics Committee in RP?:
- The responsibilities for the Ethics Committee/ECM include the following:

Johnny Broom grew up in a quiet, small town where nothing strange happened. At least nothing strange that people talked about. Johnny started noticing little details about his town as he grew up. His parent’s neighbor leaves at exactly 3:30AM in the morning with his loud truck. The stray dog that somehow knew when to sneak into the back yard after the yearly family BBQ was done. He found out that his uncle kept leaving a big steak behind the tree for the dog and he hasn’t said anything since. In fact he ended up leaving some one year when the uncle didn’t show up.
Johnny didn't grow up with pets. His parents were allergic to everything including goldfish as they said. Johnny quickly figured out that was a lie. Johnny wrote everything he observed down in his notebook as a child. Patterns, theories, observations. He enjoyed finding patterns since things seem to always have a pattern. He liked figuring out the truth behind things and catching people with lies. People knew him as the lie detector.
Everything changed the night he was accused of a crime he didn’t commit. After leaving his last college class, an eyewitness claimed Johnny broke into a cafe and stole food from the fridge. One witness, no evidence, and no motive. Just a straight path to jail. Johnny tried to show them proof that he wasn’t anywhere near the cafe but no one cared. They wanted closure. He wanted justice. That moment cracked something open in him. He started seeing injustice everywhere. Unethical behavior. Patterns of it. The same way he saw everything else. From that point on, he dedicated himself to fixing it. Fixing the injustice that he saw in the world. He climbed through the ranks of his local police department, eventually landing in the detectives division. He solved case after case with precision.
Johnny didn’t find the Foundation. The Foundation rather found him. One day while finishing a written testimony, a man in a black suit approached him. A recruiter who had been watching his work. He told Johnny he had potential and that he could be an asset. Johnny agreed to follow the man unaware of how deep the rabbit hole went. Unaware of how fate will change because of that one decision.
Johnny had a lot of work to do. He had to start working through the process and learn the ways of the foundation. He quickly became known for his calm demeanor and his patience. His ability to listen was loved by many who needed someone to talk to. Personnel trusted him and Researchers and security staff respected him. He wasn’t the loudest voice in the room, but he was the one people sought out when something felt off. The one that people depended on to lead them through the unknown path when things seemed dark.
Later in his career, Johnny encountered a situation that mirrored his past. A researcher accused of mishandling a containment procedure. No evidence and pressure to convict. Johnny stepped in and went through logs, interviewed witnesses, and cross‑checked every detail. Eventually he found the real issue. The containment procedure was never the issue. The issue was a malfunctioning sensor overlooked by a tech expert. Johnny sighed at the fact that such a critical malfunction would be overlooked. Johnny presented all the evidence and cleared the researcher’s name. Although no praise came from it, he knew what he did was right. From then on, he became a louder voice. Always pushing for fairness and accountability and leading the way to a more ethical way of life.
One day, Johnny applied to be an investigator and he got the role! He immediately asked to be an FTO to help train new Agents and Operatives and was approved! Johnny worked through going up the ladder by providing quality work to the department as his new role as Inspector when he got promoted. He worked on ensuring the image of ISD was held high and showed other departments that ISD is not scary. One day, Johnny was pulled into a room for a talk with his director. As he turned around the corner, he was met with a cake and all his great friends around the foundation. Johnny was promoted to his new role as Commissioner of IO in ISD. Eventually, he rose all the way to ISD Director.
Johnny believed ISD was too closed off, too misunderstood, too siloed. He wanted the department to thrive and be able to do so with the help of others. He worked tirelessly to build bridges with other divisions that were previously burnt down. With the help of Tommy, his favorite ISD Director, he pulled it off. To this day, Johnny strives to be a leader, following the straight and narrow with ethics leading the way. He keeps his head high through the low moments. He thrived to be the light in the darkness... or that is what people thought of him.
You see, Johnny has a way with people. When he wants something forgotten, he can talk anyone into letting it go. When he needs things to go his way, he can guide a conversation until it lands exactly where he wants. It’s not manipulation. It’s mastery. Art of some sort. And it’s what makes him one of the Foundation’s most trusted voices. The trust that can never be lost. The trust that has some truth and some cover-up mixed within.
