What does this suggestion change/add/remove:
Add a movement-enhancing gas mask that is exclusively obtainable by putting a gas mask through 914 on Fine. Additionally consider a hazmat variant. It would function identically to the original vWar item pre-refinement, except while worn it provides some small buff to movement, whether it be a slight speed boost or if the below mentioned suggestion regarding the stamina system is accepted, reduce the rate at which stamina drains. This benefit could additionally be degraded when the mask/hazmat is damaged in accordance with its damage states.
Has something similar been suggested before? If so, why is your suggestion different?:
Haven't checked, but unlikely. This is a feature directly inspired by the infinite stamina mask in Containment Breach, obtained the same way. There is this currently active suggestion on a stamina system (The discussion in which prompted me to make this suggestion):
This does not conflict with that and may be something that could be implemented in harmony with that system.
Possible Positives of the suggestion (At least 2):
- Improved ability to fight 049/008 breaches and as a result, a positive effect on server health.
- New benefit of 914, provoking potential interest in research, as well as from CI/GOC factoring it into their respective gameplay loops.
Possible Negatives of the suggestion:
- Potentially unnecessary 049 nerf.
- Potentially unwanted 035 buff - As it could potentially be obtainable and usable by 035, albeit 035 would have to go out of their way to get it and using 914 would let everyone know where he is, which makes it a tactically unsound idea from a breach perspective.
- Potential source of abuse - There are a multitude of situations where this could cause unwanted effects, the first that come to my mind involve juggs, especially Nu7 jugg, as F would have easier access to this than CI/GOC do. This may have to be specified in the rules as disallowed for them, similar to how juggs are presently not allowed to use certain chems.
- Underutilisation - Anyone looking to do this for any kind of benefit to any relevant gameplay loop would have to go pretty out of their way. Especially since entities are cleared up regularly, these can't be reasonably stockpiled. It may prove to be just be too much trouble to bother with.
- Significant dev effort to implement a considerably minor feature
