What does this suggestion change/add/remove:
Adding phones inside SCP Containment chamber's that can call, (and probably only call) the phone that is on the outside of the chamber. This would mean adding phones into chambers such as:
049
076
035
7722(?)
682 (Granted, I have not been in this chamber in my time on the server yet, but I read that it can talk within the rules, but I have no idea how the chamber is arranged and whether there is an easy way to communicate as a researcher or other personnel with 682, disregard if you must)
If you go to any 1 of these chambers, (excluding my lack of knowledge on 682), you'll find that if a researcher wants to talk to any of the SCP's directly, it's quite difficult and awkward unless they stand right next to the containment door and talk through it. The alternative of course is talking through text chat through the window, but who wants to do that??
There are of course SCPs such as the type greens or 9000 or 082, but these aren't really unique containment chambers in any way, and because they are so small standing next to the door is not that much of a problem. However, these 4 chambers could also benefit from having phones inside if safe communication was wanted, possibly 1 phone located in that block of chambers would suffice, connected to each of the 4 chambers, then with 4 other phones in each chamber.
There is a question mark next to 7722 as I am not sure if it would fit in his style of chamber.
Has something similar been suggested before? If so, why is your suggestion different?:
I went a few pages back and looked in the frequently asked suggestions and could not find anything similar.
Possible Positives of the suggestion (At least 2):
Having phones between chambers would create a kind of intercom system, that which researchers can utilise to communicate with the SCP should it be necessary, or vice versa.
Currently the only way to communicate with an SCP as a researcher is to use text chat through the window, which is clunky and doesn't feel very RP-suitable, or order a D Class to pass on a message to the SCP in question. If a test was wanted to be carried out that DIDN'T require a D Class, such as an interview with 1 of the SCP's mentioned, a phone system would greatly benefit.
Since there isn't exactly any audio when you use a headcam and the personnel tablet either, having a phone in the chamber would allow either the SCP or most likely the D Class to pick it up, and this would then allow for easy listening in on conversations that are taking place between the D Class and the SCP also, it would be one sided but at least it would allow researchers conducting the test to partially hear what was going on.
Possible Negatives of the suggestion:
I'm not sure on how much space or lag the phones produce, in total a minimum of 4 would have to be added, 5 if 682 also qualifies as "difficult to communicate with as a researcher"
No other negatives identified.
Based on the Positives & Negatives, why should this suggestion be accepted:
I think the positives greatly outweigh the negatives, and adding in these phones would make tests be able to be conducted a lot more fluidly, as well as also expanding the types of communication that can happen in a test.
