What does this suggestion change/add/remove:
The ability for fridges to eject/destroy all empty containers. It should probably be a function restrictable to specific jobs/regiment ranks, per fridge (Exec+ for RSD Chem Lab fridges, LT+/DELCOM+ for Regimental fridges, etc.) - This could be something configurable by SL+
EDIT: Could alternatively introduce a setting that only allows flasks with any contents to be placed in the fridges in the first place, for regiments & departments to use as they see fit.
Has something similar been suggested before? If so, why is your suggestion different?:
I raised this idea as part of discussion on a past suggestion asking for logs for Chem Fridges to be made available to CO+ - But I don't think it really went anywhere, so now that someone else re-opened that same issue, I'm simply offering the idea I raised before as a formal suggestion. Even though this idea intersects with the logs idea by virtue of also being fridge moderation QoL, asking for accessible logs on who took what out is different in substance, to asking for a feature that allows easy removal of empty containers from fridges.Possible Positives of the suggestion (At least 2):
- + Improved ease of fridge maintenance & moderation at the regimental/departmental level
- + Improved value of fridges by making it easier to make them less cluttered and therefore more desirable & easier to use
- (EDIT Change
+ Preventing empty flasks/beakers would outright remove the need to clear out the fridges - And anyone deliberately putting in empty flasks/vials expressly to minge would have to add a little bit of a useless chem to do so, which would make this kind of minging easier to identify
Possible Negatives of the suggestion:
- - Implementation effort
- - Potential abuse? Entity spam, maybe? Unsure
Based on the Positives & Negatives, why should this suggestion be accepted:
Idk if this is still the case, but everyone hates when you stick empty vials and such in the fridge. It just clogs up the fridge with empty vials and flasks. It's honestly better to just let them sit and despawn - But I get how this is habit. Hell, I recall myself even being guilty of this in the past.
I can also see the potential issue that this could reduce the availability of empty flasks/vials and such because regiments/departments are constantly disposing of them - Alternatively, some kind of separate storage where you put the empty vials and flasks in instead and instead of a separate listing of each flask and vial, it's just a counter of them, so that way if, for whatever reason, you do need an empty flask or vial, you can just get one. And that supply can be directly controlled by the ridiculous amount of empty flasks and vials that a regiment/department gets in this way.
To my understanding, being able to do something about empty flasks and vials in the fridges would help greatly.
