Why are you applying for Executive Researcher?

To be honest, I've been asked to by every dweeb from the DoRs to SA. I worry about my lack of in-game knowledge and experience but I think I can spin this into RP as Claire also feels a wee bit forced into her higher position. I don't lack confidence, per say. I know I can do fun tests and I adore shadowing others if they'll let me, but I'm fully aware I might fall on my face a few times in my first CL4 role and I hope everyone else is aware of that too. Regardless. I want to prove these people right by doing more around RSD as a whole, trying to make it better for Jrs, ect.

What makes you suitable for Executive Researcher?

I enjoy cultivation and cooperation. I've been happy to help Jrs navigate their first tests and I like being a helping hand for others' tests. Sometimes this means just standing in the corner and taking notes, sometimes it involves getting more involved. Regardless I keep track of those I've interacted with and I try to keep up relationships whether they are cordial or rivalries. Specifically I want to interact more with medical and E11. I adore keeping good relations between departments because it's so much more fulfilling (and funny) when the other departments are fighting each other interacting!

How many excellent-graded documents have you written? What makes a document excellent?

I know I have at least one excellent document, and that is my 914/049-2 cross test. I know I've done a lot of good documents but due to only playing for a few months and because the documentation system is a little buggy I don't know how to pull up my older/deleted documents. I can provide a list of what is included in an excellent document though!
  • Cover-page with a synopsis
  • Index
  • SCP briefing(s)
  • Goal and/or Hypothesis
  • Safety Procedures
  • Additional information
  • Method
  • Findings
  • Conclusion and/or recommendations
  • Photography

Keep in mind this list is the bare basics. Honestly I think an excellent doc is tailored around the test. For example, my cross test focused a lot on safety due to the many moving parts. A test I am currently planning focuses more on the equipment needed for test including calculating the estimated cost using IRL sources. An excellent doc shows understanding, initiative, creativity, and is uniquely tailored to the test's needs.

What are the responsibilities of the Executive Researcher in RP?

Guiding but not taking control. Unless it is your own test I beleive execs should focus more on cultivation of the researchers below us. We should seek to elevate their experience with the tools we have at our disposal and make their tests feel real, like they're actually interacting with dangerous, wonderful anomalies, and not with code and some dweebs behind a screen. Sometimes, like when the other researchers cause problems on purpose, we have to take control but that is only when someone is actively ruining RP with malicious intent. A lot of patience is needed to deal with lower clearance individuals. Some just don't have a character to play (yet), and some are just assholes. It's a really hard job to separate malicious incompetence from people just trying to play a game but I think it's an aspect of the job that is often overlooked.

Name: Claire ‘Bones’ Amelia

Security Clearance: 3

Current Assignment: ██████████████████

Current Position: Senior Researcher

Applied Position: Executive Researcher

Current Location: Site-65

Overview

Claire B. Amelia is a researcher known for being more scared of foundation staff than the SCPs she studies. Her approach is often hands-on and unorthodox for better or for worse. When it comes to ‘for the worse’ she has been caught alone with one-on-one conversations with sapient SCPs multiple times, often breaking containment procedures. Reprimanding has been lenient as of late due to her recording all her conversations in (sometimes exhausting) detail and happily handing over any and all documentation when asked by higher up personnel. Despite her tendency to balance on railings and talk to SCPs like pets she remains, at the end of the day, serious in her devotion to the Foundation.

Pre-Foundation Information

Amelia has few records before she was enrolled in high school. From what the U.S. has we can tell she was born 19██ in ████████, Arkansas. According to obituaries her mother died shortly after delivery and she was raised by her father, brother, and other members of her family. All were part of the █████████████, which was a traveling circus. Said circus suffered a fatal accident in 20██ where the majority of it, records and staff included, burned down. From what records were salvaged and from her own memory, though she seems reluctant to speak of it, Amelia was apparently one of the acrobats. During the accident Claire B. Amelia was multiple states away at ██████████ University. She managed to get in through her immaculate grades in highschool, scholarships, and a surprising amount of money her family seemed to put together. She finished with a dual degree, having academic pursuits in both forensics and psychology. For a few years she worked at ████████, before an incident with ████████ occurred. Claire B. Amelia was one of many survivors and as a working scientist with an impressive academic record she was pursued as a possible employee who already dealt with anomalous entities. All others working at ████████ were amnesticated appropriately.

Experience as a Junior Researcher

As a CL1 Claire was noted to be scared of everything within the foundation. While this is common, she seemed more afraid of the people than the anomalies. Any armed personnel seemed to set her nerves on fire, especially ones that were covert like A1,O1, and ISD. Thaumatologists, SA, and heavily guarded individuals such as site inspectors also caused her great distress just by existing near her. Even as a CL3 there are multiple cases of her leaving the room if there are too many people. Specifically too many A1, O1, or higher ups within SA. She was noted to be very friendly with D-Class and ecstatic about interacting with safe SCPs around site such as 073 and 22415. Her friendliness with sapient SCPs brought her to work closely with Sr. Morikas Lathario, who had specialized in studying these SCPs before Amelia was even hired. While their research has taken them down very different paths recently, his effect on her theories and projects should not go unnoticed. Unfortunately, like Lathrio, she has also developed alcoholism. Where he drinks rum, she drinks vodka. This addiction has been taken note of and an attempt at rehabilitation has been attempted. See incident log, Abuse of Coffee Machine/Addiction and Psychological evaluation.

Experience as a Researcher

Upon becoming CL2 there is a distinct drop in performance. Claire seemed to become disillusioned when in regards to the foundation and their anomalies. The few sentient ones she could talk to she often had conversations with that went undocumented. These did not break containment procedures like those mentioned above. She’s been seen having interviews with 912 along with Sr Researcher Morikas, holding 2295 while carrying it around, and losing at chess multiple times with 073. She seemed to grow both comfortable and demotivated, treating the anomalous events around her with a sense of casual disregard that rivals even that of most experienced staff. For a researcher, this was undesirable. Thankfully it changed as she was promoted to Sr researcher.

Experience as a Sr Researcher

Despite her lackluster performance as a researcher Claire was known through RSD and was spoken highly of by those she worked with, notably Morikas. Once she gained access to the CL3 SCPs she seemed to revive not only her scientific pursuits, but her devotion to the foundation as a whole. Claire B. Amelia is very known (for better and for worse) for making repeated trips to HCZ for interviews. So much so that E11 barely ask for her documents anymore. She's said multiple times, and we quote, “Sampling is waste of time.” As she’s climbed the ranks she’s had a growing disdain for D-Class, especially ones that don’t take her questions seriously. Any perceived belittling of her attempt to understand the inner psychology of the SCPs is often met with outbursts. Not only is the emotional volatility new, but so is her fighting back with other staff. On one hand, she adores working hands-on with others. Events detailed below support this. On the other hand, if she feels disregarded, belittled, or humiliated in any way she has a tendency to wrest control of the situation back with whatever power she can leverage or walk off and disengage from the situation. Her fears for armed personnel no longer exist as long as they are not A1 or O1. She is even seen during D-Block riots obtaining field kits and offering what help she can. Her detachment and lack of fear from violence or gunfire is a slight concern, as she seems to value her own life less and less every day. Even having casual conversations while kidnapped at gunpoint. See incident log, GOC Kidnapping.

Her current specialty revolves around subduing certain SCPs. She has been working closely with many SCPs, especially 049. 049 has been doing less aggressive breaches, and during some breaches asks for Claire by name. This is due to Claire doing ‘tests’ with 049 involving putting his ‘cured patients’ (049-2) through 914 and telling 049 they are doing it to help ‘perfect his cure’. In her own documents she admits to lying to 049, simply trying to find out what the pestilence is through hands-on interaction. Her current area of study revolves in amnestics and how they affect SCPs. She plans to use this on 049 when they ‘prefect’ his ‘cure’. This way they know what the pestilence is and what the cure looks like, but 049 won’t be forcefully administering it as he will simply forget. Claire seems to be afraid of 049 gaining more control than her but ensures that she is the one who leads the experiment, showing a back and forth between being terrified of 049 before assuming she has him completely under control. The worst aspect of this is when Claire is arrogant enough to simply approach and speak to 049 while he is in containment. Often without proper security. See incident log, Breaking 049 Containment Policies/Interviewing 049 with a Cartographer.

A recent issue involved with her ‘helping’ another SCP. It is widely known that █████████ ██████████████████████. As an attempt to help SCP-████ she ████████████████ ███████████████████████████. Causing her to be ███████████████████████
████████████████████████████████ E11 █████████████████ testified on this event as well as ████████████████████████ After a short conversation involving █████ ███████████████████████████ she was trusted with ██████████████████████ where she will be watched closely. See incident log ███████████████████████████

Incident Logs

Claire B. Amelia has been seen multiple times making her own vodka using foundation resources and using SCP-294 to make strong vodka known as chim. At around ██:██ PM she is seen in D-Block waiting for D-Class. Another researcher jokingly hands her some potent, and Claire decides to down it. Site Manager Dr. Saif Al-Qadar watched her drink it, feel the effects, then gleefully ask the other researcher for more. Afterwards she was dragged to med-bay where Dr. Saif instructed a doctor to give her an evaluation. The doctor failed to write down a proper report, and as such the outcome of the evaluation is unknown but there are now official records on her substance abuse thanks to Dr. Saif’s report.

After her test with 914 and 049-2 Claire and a cartographer are seen entering 049’s chamber without proper supervision. Audio is low-quality, scavenged from the slightly damaged camera within 049’s containment. 049 is seen observing a sample of the 049-2 put through 914 on ultra-fine.

049, with a sample in his microscope on a nearby table: However, the strand of existence that this one holds has replicating stem cells that turn into the telomere. Repairing the cells before the decay.

Claire, sitting relaxed on the operating table: So he doesn’t… age? But his brain is still.. compromised. Like the other patients?

049: The body has no way to age, no. It makes them practically unkillable by any means. Age, disease, the whole lot. What happens to their brain… I haven’t any clue. I had no chance to inspect him myself.

Claire: He didn’t make it very far. He… upset one of our containment units and our unit gunned him down.

049, examining the sample as he talks: It is nothing we can’t do... again.

Claire: Are you saying you wish to… continue this? Do it again?

Cache, chuckling: Round two?

Claire, chucking as well: Round two!

049: Yes. Round two.

[Laughter increases slightly]

[During this interaction Sergeant Cleetus ‘Mud’ Stillthorn and O1-MAJ Shrimp enter the chamber.]

Shrimp, upon seeing the people in 049’s cell: Oh! Do you want a hand with that?

Cleetus: Nah, they're alright

Shrimp: I feel like she shouldn't be... in there. Neither of them should.

Cleetus: I told her that but it don't.. it don't matter.. really.. She just doin whatever the fuck she doin’ I guess. 049's bein’ a charm.

Shrimp: To be fair, 049 has been pretty well behaved recently

Cleetus: Yeah, the only reason that thing hasn't KILLED her is cause she's been working with it for a while.. so she’s pretty much it’s work partner I guess?
Shrimp: Oh.. That's very curious.. It's interesting that 049 has taken a shine to someone.

Cleetus: Yeah she did this big test with 049 and 914. 049 has kinda taken her on as a work partner pretty much

Shrimp: Oh, that is extremely interesting...

[The O1 responds to something on comms, the O1 leaves and Cleetus is left to watch over the event. None of them seem to alert E11.]

049, after a moment of silence: Not once in my entirety have I gotten this close. If we go to that machine again I think the cure could be complete.

[Laughter subsides, Claire and Cache look at eachother]

Claire: You think you could really complete your cure? Like really, really?

049: It may. I hope it does. I have never seen the cure be altered in such a way. Dare I say improved.

[There is a moment of silence. Claire then turns to consult Cache.]

Claire: Well, that’s where we’re at. We should do another test with 914 and 049. Maybe use his own words as some kind of proof of concept?

Cache: We could also just tell them it was cut short. The containment unit did just gun down our subject. Just ask for a do-over. Just tell whoever signed it we have alcoholics on site that ruined our test.

Claire, chuckling: We do indeed have alcoholics on site.

[Claire then hops off the table, walking with Cache to the door. 049 stands up, looking away from his sample and at the scientists leaving his containment chamber.]

049: I must say to you; it’s refreshing to have researchers pour their efforts into something that matters. Rather than containing me you seem focused on the actual threat on the horizon…

[049 begins walking away from the table to approach Claire and Cache, intentions unknown. Cache is relaxed while Claire anxiously knocks on the door, telling those outside that she’d like to leave. The door is opened, and she is allowed out.]

There is a short but very concerning moment where Claire is held at gunpoint by an unknown GOC agent. Recordings are spotty as they move through the facility, but the events are as follows.

[Claire is seen arguing with the GSD that carried her D-Class. For one reason or another the D-Class are being put back as they are right outside of inanimate. Another researcher, later discovered to be a GOC in disguise, watches the scuffle. As the GSD take away her D-Class she is approached.]

???: Hey, could I get you to follow me for a second?

Claire, exasperated and sarcastic: Sure, I feel like dying today.

[They have a short walk to primary, no E11 are at the checkpoint, and they continue to have a chat as they walk. As they reach primary doors the disguised GOC turn to her.]

???: Open the doors for me.

Claire, chuckling: Why would I need to…?

[Claire is seen going silent and still before trying to turn and flee, behind her the GOC pulls out a gun, it’s safety audibly clicking off. Claire freezes as she hears the gun, holding her hands up.]

???, more aggressively: Open. The doors. For me.

[Claire, lowering her hands and pulling out her keycard, opens the doors for him. The GOC is seen stripping her communications, chemicals, and weapons from under gunpoint. He leaves her with her keycard.]

???: The only reason I’m not killing you is because my superiors told me to spare non-combatives.

Claire, sighing: Ah. So YOU’RE the GOC they called out earlier today.

???: Shut up.

[The GOC motions her forward, taking her hostage as he takes her down the elevator. They both are silent until they begin to walk through HCZ.]

Claire, seeming relaxed: So… where are we going?

???, while looking around, seeming a bit lost: … We're going to the reactor. Show me the fastest way.

Claire, shrugging: I have no idea. I’m not a techie. I can tell you where some of the SCPs are, but I don’t think you’d like them.

[The GOC seems annoyed and pushes her down a hallway. They seem lost for a few minutes, but eventually find their way to the reactor. The GOC and Claire have sparse, mostly sarcastic, conversations the whole way. Once they reach the reactor both seem relaxed, and Claire gives him access to what he needs without hesitation. There are a few instances where his eyes are off her, but she doesn’t flee.]

???, nudging her with his gun: I have what I need. Let’s go.

Claire: Don’t touch me with that thing.

[There is a small pause, and the GOC does it again. It is unclear if this a threat, a jest, or both. Claire reluctantly follows his nudge, walking with him to the secondary elevator. Banter continues between them, almost friendly. In the secondary elevator Claire presses the button and they both relax against their respective walls on opposite sides of the elevator.]

???: This is strange.

Claire: What?

???: To kidnap someone and just… have a casual conversation with them.

Claire, gesturing at his gun which isn’t even pointed at her in this moment: Well I’m technically still at gunpoint, I don’t have communications, and GOC aren’t known for killing people. Plus, you told me your higher ups demanded you spare non-combatives. This is way better than getting kidnapped by CI in my opinion.

[There is a shared moment of laughter as they insult Chaos Insurgence. Claire and the GOC walk through secondary, through LCZ, and near D-Block without encountering any patrols.]

Claire: You know if there’s anyone at D-Block I need to run to them and scream, right?

???, smiling: Watch it be empty.

[As they pass the open door to D-Block Claire sees many GSD and immediately runs to them, screaming about her kidnapper. The GOC does not gun her down, instead drinking anima and escaping with what he came for. Later Claire attempts to make a proper report, but is not contacted by SA about her recent kidnapping.]

Claire is another example of a wonderful researcher, they create insanely creative documentation which in turn make incredible role-play, similarly to morikas they have multiple play styles in role-play. They show an extreme aptitude for the role with their skills in helping new players with role-play and being creative enough to seemingly never run out of ideas, whether it's interviews or cross tests. They always make tests amazing, and it's been enjoyable to be involved. I first met them as a Jr researcher during one of my lectures, and since then they have grown and expanded their skill set in role-play to massive degrees. They have been a researcher for well over 6 months and not once have they failed to meet expectations.

Incredible application in immense detail, very active, very friendly. Helped my friend as a Jr Researcher as well which was very cool.
