The purpose of these guidelines is to ensure that responses to Developer Applications are thoughtful, constructive, and contribute meaningfully to the discussion.

Please adhere to the following rules when responding to any application.
  1. Understand the Subject Matter
Before posting, make sure you understand the topic being discussed. If you lack knowledge in areas such as coding or level design, it is best to refrain from commenting to avoid confusion or misinformation. (The only exception to this is if you have knowledge that would be relevant to the application i.e. the person is known from another community for bad behaviour or improper conduct)

  2. Avoid Low-Effort Responses
Responses like "+support" or "-support" alone do not add any value to the discussion. Each post should offer more than just a vote of support or disapproval—provide reasoning for your stance.

  3. Contextual Feedback is Required
Do not leave responses that offer no rational context, such as memes or irrelevant phrases ("+support, let this man cook" or "-support this person smells"). Feedback should be clear and directly related to the applicant's qualifications.

  4. No Repetitive Posts
If a point has already been made by another user (e.g., "Show your work"), there is no need to repeat it unless you are adding something new to the discussion. Redundant posts clutter the forum and make it difficult to track meaningful input.

  5. Provide Constructive Feedback
When responding to an application, always aim to provide constructive criticism. Offer specific suggestions for improvement or highlight areas where the applicant excels. Avoid vague or unhelpful comments like "good job" or "bad idea."

  6. Stay Respectful and Professional
Criticism should always be respectful and focused on the application itself. Personal attacks, insults, or off-topic remarks will not be tolerated and will result in moderation action.

  7. Keep Responses On-Topic
Ensure that your responses are relevant to the developer application and the applicant’s skills or contributions. Off-topic discussions should be avoided.

  8. Avoid Bumping Threads with Empty Posts
Do not "bump" threads by posting meaningless replies just to move an application to the top of the forum. If you do not have anything new to contribute, it is better to avoid posting.

  9. Enforcement of Guidelines
Any violations of these guidelines will result in the offending message being deleted, and the user will receive a reply ban from the thread.
