Gamemaster events are tough to do, I was the sole RPK for quite some time and let me tell you, it takes a while to get comfortable with the tools given. All you want to do is test them properly to know what you can and can't do so you won't end up breaking something - GM's and RPK's get some very powerful tools at their disposal.
Another thing is that running events is stressful, it's fun for everyone involved but quite strenuous for whoever is hosting it, after a while you kind of get this anxiety which eats away at your desire to actually run events.
Example: I hosted a WW2 Recreation event, I had to beg an admin to place FOBs, and then model every person involved and give them their weaponry/vehicles. When they died, they had to be remodelled and given weapons back, there's no quick and easy way to do this, you have to scroll through two different menus to do it, per person who dies.
Suffice to say, it was a very stressful event and it pushed me more to focus on the large-scale events, which are always REALLY fun to plan out lore-wise. Writing out the plan and then the lore aspects was always my favourite part, but the more complicated you get the more people will complain.
People don't want to read into the lore that's given for an event, they just get thrown in, complain about everything and then leave, look at Cloud's last event, the premise was perfectly simple and it was plagued with both sides constantly complaining, not playing fair and a massive numbers disparity which made it impossible for the USSR to do anything. A lot of people weren't happy and it was placed solely on the GM who ran it, which isn't fair.
Imagine how that feels, spending hours of work finding a map, preparing a story, liaising with the staff team to get it sorted, placing and creating dupes, getting people ready all for it to fall apart. The community can be FAR FAR too fickle. Some GM's work (or have worked) really hard and they get shit on for no other reason than "Hurr USSR bad why do they have x territory" or "hurr lagggg".
Gamemasters should be giving more feedback to the community because they're a bit of an oddity at the moment, we're not really sure who is GM due to nobody really doing anything, but on the flipside, they likely don't want to run anything out of fear of community backlash. The past few weeks MRP has really shown just how toxic and nasty they can really be, that swamp-like attitude is permeating from the minges on CG and CC into MRP - admittedly even I've let it get the better of me.
Let's give the GM's time to put together something special, they're still there and as far as I know they're always working on new event ideas. Coolioo is GM now and he was one of the best RPK's (if not the best), I may reapply in a few weeks time once my appeal cooldown is over. Just be patient!
