What makes you the best candidate for Ethics Committee Assistant?:
Believing to be the best candidate is due to the following;
- I've been a 2.5 year old player on CN SCP RP UK and have been decently active every now and then.
- I've held a few honorary roles on the server, notably Nu-7 CSG, IA ambassador/inspector, and commissioner.
- I believe I could also be a good knowledge asset as the gateway that common personnel reach to, and I could help them out with most matters in general, thanks to my overall server experience, about the RP style, the site, roles, etc.
- Since I've mostly played on ISD, I could be above average skilled in situational observations and interdepartmental and interpersonal relationships.
What are the responsibilities of Ethics Committee Assistants in RP?:
The responsibilities of an ECA can be split into 3 basic categories;
- General CL-4; As a CL-4, the ECA would have core responsibilities such as:
- Managing site controls (blast doors, breach shelter, lights),
- Deploying orders (AA, sweep, arrests) when no higher up is on or when implicitly allowed (e.g. arrests),
- Leading the lower ranked - teaching, praising, punishing, directing them.
- Ethics Committee Assistants; As... personal assistants... they would do things the ECMs instruct them, usually to ease up the ethics workflow and stress, such as:
- Making audits, arrests, etc as ordered and reporting the outcomes.
- Temporarily making decisions on behalf of the committee - that is, if the committee empowers them first.
- Perform as the gateway between the members and other personnel, as again, in order to ease up the committee's workflow.
- Own Duties; ECAs also have their own specialised privileges and power, such that no committee member needs to be present for certain actions. This ranges from administrative duties to taking up ISD's place:
- Initiate tribunals, and act up as judges in them.
- Assisting site administration.
- Overseeing departments, upholding the FLC and the code of Ethics. Almost what ISD personnel would do, except that assistants inherit more power over most situations and are more easily able to bend the outcome towards tribunal RP than plain jail (or fines).
- Review and approve research tests - sampling, CL-4 SCP, cross-testing, and whatever else the research policy requires test authorisation from the ethics committee or its assistants (or in some cases exec+/DoR+).
- And finally, be the front cover of the committee as well as the Foundation's Code of Ethics. ECAs are expected to uphold the topmost standard when it comes to professionalism and taking things seriously. In fact, I would say more professional than ISD Inspectors given the fact that it's CL-1 information that Ethics assistants are indeed the committee members' assistants, and so, one single drop of quality could actually have in-character but also OOC concerns regarding trust and competence between site personnel and the Ethics Committee.
Additionally, they may also request MTF O-1 "Law's Left Hand" assistance as a tool to be able to accomplish the ethics committee's very own objective of upholding the code of Ethics, in the case where ISD is powerless and the EC order falls apart in the foundation.
Please give some lore about your Ethics Committee Assistant character and what storylines they would be involved in:
Henry, commonly known as his codename 'Intern', born on 12th June 19██, was an ethics committee assistant that has always believed in a clear difference between what's moral and what is not.
During his young preschool years, he would have gone to a catholic church every Sunday, where he would have been always preached about the act of sinfulness. As school came, he had been severely bullied due to his own beliefs, leading him into contemplating about whether the bad guys always win. Eventually, he would have given up his beliefs and would have struggled to believe that a God existed. During late puberty, he has then proceeded to go the morally wrong path - smoking, drugs, alcohol, sex, night life, and so forth. He has already become a lost boy by the age of 19, completely giving up school and disregarding everything else in life, leading his parents to kick him out of the house, essentially becoming homeless. From this point on, he had once again regained his beliefs that one day he will finally live a happy life with a cozy job, perhaps one preaching about the dangers of the bad and the goodness of the moral.
As time went on, he had struggled to barely get enough food and care every day on the streets of Quebec. Eventually, a supposedly CSIS agent came up to him and asked him if he wanted to partake in an experiment in exchange for food and shelter. He undoubtedly said yes as he jumped from his place. He had then been taken into a vehicle, given sedatives, and then drove all the way to Site-65. There, he has been properly been taken care of, and, as part of the homeless salvage programme created by the Ethics Committee, he has been slowly taught about the Foundation, the SCPs, the surroundings, and has been given the option to choose a department to become an intern of for a period of time, or go on with his miserable life though forgetting all of this had happened. Henry has chosen the Internal Security Department, as it has been closely tied to his moral values. He has then become an ISD intern. 2 years later, he had been out of the intern period, ready to serve for what's right - the holy FLC.
He was then 27 years old when he had already become an ISD Inspector, and had constant thoughts to attempt to apply for an ethics committee assistant position, as 2 positions were open. A colleague of his suggested that if he truly believed in ethics, he would have to come closer to the committee itself and serve them closer. There it was. Henry the 'intern' has now become one of the committee's servants, hoping to serve justice whenever needed, in the name of Ethics.
