What does this suggestion change/add/remove:
I’d like to suggest an addition to the current KTime system that gives players more clarity on how their time is actually spent on the server. Right now, KTime only shows your total playtime, but it doesn’t tell you what roles that time came from. This can be misleading, especially for people applying to departments or trying to show activity in specific jobs.
With this suggestion, a new panel would be added to KTime that starts tracking any job you've spent at least 5 to 10 minutes on. Once that threshold is met, the job shows up in your personal chart. Alongside your total server time, you’d now also see a breakdown of what that time is actually made up of. For example, if you played 3 hours today, this would show that maybe 1 hour was as a Researcher, 45 minutes was as MTF, and the rest was on other jobs.
This helps promote transparency, keeps people honest about what they’re actually contributing to, and gives staff a tool to better evaluate player activity. It also gives players a more personal sense of growth by showing where their time is going and how their RP experience is building over time.

Has something similar been suggested before? If so, why is your suggestion different?:
I don't believe so, I think there was something close to this but not exactly what I am proposing.
Possible Positives of the suggestion (At least 2):
Exposes When People Are Only Using Jobs As a Stepping Stone (Without Doing the Work): There are players who join jobs just long enough to say "I've worked in that department" to try and cut what's needed to get them to the top. KJobTime exposes who's genuinely spending time on their job, and who's just using it as a stopgap. If you're looking to promote to command positions, this system ensures you're not cutting the line without doing the time.
Creates Accountability to Combat Nepotism and Unnecessary Bias:
Let's be honest, sometimes people get promoted because they know someone. KJobTime can change the game. It provides real-time job activity so admins and power players have something to go off of when deciding promotions and positions. If someone deserves a promotion because the numbers show they've been working hard, it'll be recorded. If someone hasn't been doing their job… well, it'll be recorded.
Promotes More Well-Rounded Roleplay Throughout The Server:
When you can visually see a breakdown of what you've played, little things like "Wow, I've been on Nu-7 all week," or "Maybe I should give Research another chance," can pop up. That kind of accountability makes the server feel more alive and encourages roleplay to be expanded across the departments instead of the more popular known ones.
Aids Staff in Acknowledging Consistency and Effort:
Admins and department heads don't always see EVERYTHING you do as players get busy. KJobTime assists in player history, how long you've held a job, how often you return to it, whether or not you've kept up with it over time. It can be used to reward those who deserve to be rewarded for being active and effective.
Makes Your Achievements Known Like a RP "Report Card":
It’s like checking in on your gaming stats/hours played but strictly for RP jobs. It allows you to get a feel for which roles you really resonate with, how you've spent your time, what you struggle with or need to know more about. It's a little self-esteem boost for your RP life history.
Possible Negatives of the suggestion:
Slightly More Work for Server Backend/Logs:
KJobTime would need to track job switches and playtime more closely, which could increase the amount of data the server handles. This might require some optimization or smart cleanup scripts, but it’s not impossible.
Could Be Misread Without Context :
Just because someone didn’t log a lot of time on a job doesn’t mean they didn’t contribute. They could’ve had one meaningful session that really helped the server. So staff should still use common sense and context not just numbers when reviewing someone’s KJobTime history, or altered systems to highlight what was done?
Based on the Positives & Negatives, why should this suggestion be accepted:
KJobTime brings much-needed transparency and accountability to the server. It gives both players and staff the ability to see exactly where time is being spent, rather than relying on total playtime alone. This helps highlight who is genuinely contributing to their department and who may be using jobs as shortcuts to higher ranks without actually participating.
It directly addresses ongoing issues like favoritism and job-hopping by backing decisions with real data, not just word of mouth. At the same time, it gives players a better sense of their own progress and encourages more balanced, thoughtful roleplay. While it may introduce minor backend demands or feel unnecessary for casual players, the benefits far outweigh those drawbacks.
This addition promotes fairness, supports better leadership decisions, and helps create a more engaging and honest server environment for everyone.
