Idk why, it works in the Steam voice settings test thing and the normal version of GMod. I tried using the Claude desktop app to figure it out, but it gave up and told me to ask here.

The classic approach would be to do the following:
1. Verify your game files. If this doesn't work, proceed to 2.
2. Delete addons until you find the one that might be breaking it. Still not working proceed to 3.
3. Get a fresh install of the game. Still not working proceed to 4.
4. Its a clientside issue with your computer.

Steam voice doesn't apply to Gmod, it goes off of your default mic in system settings. If your mic isn't set correctly or if you try to set it to one and change it while the game is launched it won't work. You need to have it set to default and active and then launch the game.
