What does this suggestion change/add/remove:
Add more opportunities for players to receive XP via completing their duties or side-tasks each day, these tasks include:
Daily Killhouse Completion XP AND Cash Reward as Combative classes (depending on your time, you could get more XP and Cash, say a Sub-12s run nets you a solid 800XP and $500, adjust as you wish
Depending on rank/regiment/etc:
- Bigger credit rewards (say, 1.2k XP on MTF at a certain rank, and like 3k XP if you get credited as a Officer somehow)
- Bigger activity rewards scaling with your current level (20XP per few minutes while I need 7000XP to my next level feels so insignificant that if anything it feels more frustrating that it is so little)
More quests, quest rewards scaling with your level just like the activity, but on a smaller scale. Make it so you can have a maximum of 4 quests in the list waiting to be completed, and get 2 new ones every day. (after 2 days of not doing them, you will not receive more)
Hardest quests being appropriately rewarded. Killing MTF as a D-Class is not easy, they have 100HP/100Armor and carry fully attached ARXes, only way you do it (unless they're negligently sitting in d-block/afk or a private) is by being a TB or just lucky. The current XP reward can be made in around 8 minutes by just collecting scrap, which would take way less than actually killing said MTF.
First accreditation of the day (for any role/class) gets a 2x bonus.
Has something similar been suggested before? If so, why is your suggestion different?:
There have been similar propositions floating around from people I've talked to, but none that I can think of that made it to the forums in recent memory in this form.
Possible Positives of the suggestion (At least 2):
1. More incentives to play certain roles like SRU, MTF, and make the server more enjoyable for all.
2. More engagement from the playerbase rounding up to more things to do in general.
Possible Negatives of the suggestion:
Due to the nature of this system, XP farming could be an issue at first, but with quirks being ironed out as time goes on, such issues can be resolved.
Based on the Positives & Negatives, why should this suggestion be accepted:
Currently when performing duties as a job like SRU or MTF, your only real way of receiving XP is through getting credited, not so bad, right? But the amount of XP needed to just get from lvl to lvl at a certain point requires at least 15 accreditations in the mid ranges (lv. 16-22), so your best bet is to actually log onto a regular GenSec character (such as Officer) and farm escort credits, it gives people incentive to of course do escorting to begin with, but GSD Captains should have the authority and the presence to ensure that escorts are properly given to researchers whenever it is needed. Additionally, recently I asked, as an SRU player with my D-Block station kit, to get credit from a Captain online (Shortstop, I believe?), where I got the response: "Just do tests.", it makes you question the usefulness of a unit like SRU besides being a stepping stone towards Captain, SCU or other more "useful/fun" roles that require the Riot Control License.
MTF is much better when it comes to this, after all, you can have regular trainings and operations that will guarantee your accreditation by a CL4 superior, the caveat is, that you at best get like 1-2 credits every 6-12 hours on the job in the end, which is nowhere near the level of performance you receive by just grinding GenSec Officer doing escorts where you could possibly crank up those 15 credits in only around 2 hours. This applies to a lot of other jobs aswell: Tech Expert, has no viable way of "farming" XP other than to break doors with a TE-5 and fix them, which I'm pretty sure is a warnable or even bannable offense as you're xp farming, same with Trainees which while are better off for getting support XP are still poor at it, which brings me to the worst part: The inarguably fastest way to get Support XP? Play as a Chef and grind making Double Cheese Burgers for 300 support XP summed up per burger. People should not have to do unfun, grindy, and most offensively utterly braindead tasks just to get their levels up in a timely manner, quests for medical/technical jobs aren't that insane in the rewards you can get from them, which brings me to D-Class: And... D-Class is just fine, leveling up D-Class is pretty easy and enjoyable since you get rewarded quite oftenly for just doing D-Class stuff, and it's one part I would not change. Research leveling still makes sense as it is aswell.
Now for the big boys: SCPs. Playing as an SCP or leveling as one is just... boring. Inexplicably so, you can wait for 3 hours in the queue to do a breach, sure, but there is nothing else to do than wait 3 hours for 15 minutes of dopamine before MTF and SCU inevitably beam you back into the cage. Now, this is a much lesser problem with SCPs like 912! Which have things to do ambiently while waiting for their breach queue timer to go down, but that's an exception, not the rule. It's hard to solve in the end, as obviously we can't make 106 walk around the site like it's nobody's business until he gets breached, but being able to reduce the queue more than 0.5 mins via breach vote, or something similar (based on how long it has been since the last Code 5) would be a much welcome addition to make flagging onto an SCP compelling, at the very least, AFK protection from priority join while you're on an SCP, because I don't believe ANYONE seriously just sits in their CC for the full 2-3 hours waiting for the breach and is fully active, walking in circles.
To conclude:
I don't expect every change of this suggestion to be taken into account, some of them may sound unreasonable or not align with the goals of the playerbase majority or the developer team, in any case, it's something to be considered, and a voice to be heard by devs and the ownership that we want this type of stuff on the server, not necessarily in the same form as I present it or for the same reasons that I hold, yet, voicing your support is voicing your support for the general idea of this happening.
