I would like to take this opportunity to publicly honour a man whose contributions to this community are far more extensive than most people realise. He may be known to you as Ventz. However, he will always be Mr FPS to those of us who recognise the genuine gift he offers.
As you can see, Ventz goes beyond what many developers do, which is to create features, add content, and slap things together until the server boots. He is more than just a coder. He refines. He gets better. He creates addons that perform rather than just work.
Consider VWAR. An addon that is so well structured and optimised that it gives my PC the impression that Source itself is a state of the art engine fit for the modern era. In a full scale war others might send you crashing to 30 frames per second, but Ventz's work keeps you gliding at a fluid 200, as though your computer simply knows it's in the presence of greatness.
It adds up with each loop he rewrites, each network call he tightens, and each bit of deadweight he removes from the codebase. And the outcome? An experience with Garry's Mod that feels appropriate for the present decade.
We would be choking on frame drops and blaming addons for issues that only true optimisation can resolve if Mr. FPS didn't exist. However, because of him, we're doing well. And because of the work you don't see, half of you aren't even aware of how many performance problems you don't have.
Here's to Ventz, the master of programming, the unsung framerate saviour, and the reason your PC doesn't become a toaster.
Without him, neither Civil Networks nor my FPS would be the same.
Thank you, Mr. FPS.
