Denied Return the repair tool to Nu-7

What does this suggestion change/add/remove:
The suggestion would return the repair tool to Nu-7 specialist or below.

Has something similar been suggested before? If so, why is your suggestion different?:
Yes. Not so much different but just the issues lately with techs.

Possible Positives of the suggestion (At least 2):
1. It would make it less of a hassle getting a lvl 2 tech expert to surface every time 096 or a decent breach happens. (or CI door fault)
2. We would't have to chase after a tech every time they see a chance to run away because the doors are open.
3. Would't need to stand next to the gate for 40 minutes making sure no one comes through. (Done this multiple times)

Possible Negatives of the suggestion:
1. Tech experts might not get to see surface. (poor techs)
2. They will have a little less to repair.

Based on the Positives & Negatives, why should this suggestion be accepted:
The main reason this should be accepted is because most techs don't wanna do there job (At least from my experience). They run away or say they don't wanna. It would be nice to do a 7 second job and it not take 10 minutes. Sure the wall of the issue is techs will have less to repair, but to be honest they have enough with the amount of breaches that happen now. This suggestion would take a huge inconvenience out of the way for Nu-7.

i see your reasoning and get why, but like... i imagine it was taken away with good reason - which is basically that nu7 would just be a better tech expert.

but to be honest, rather than just basically give tech expert's job to nu7, it would be better for there to be any iteration on the existing engineering department, give them better tools to engage with the rest of the site, more structure and less mingery, so we can get proper maintenance roleplay, etc.

that's because tech experts are CL2 personnel and aren't supposed to go to surface

It's always going to get denied for detracting from the already limited amount of things E&TS currently has to do, and I agree.

If you have issues with Tech Experts outright FailRP'ing, call a sit. If you have issues with them not doing their job, trying to run away, etc. call IA and they can be arrested for things like Negligence (not doing their job), Insubordination (you're higher on the chain of command than they are), etc.

If you repeatedly have issues with the same individual, record it and send it to a member of SA to try to get them job banned. It probably won't happen, but you might as well try.

This sort of shit sure would happen less if there was an actual department structure with people who could and would job ban them, rather than only SA being able to do it, huh.

Repair tool has been suggested as many times as having a medic on other mtfs
Other departments/jobs main purpose is to do these things and simply asking for help is all it takes for something to get done

Not to break the news but changing content never happens in regards to the community.
That said if there is content(in this example repair tool for engineers) just because a lot of people minge on that job doesn't mean it should be entirely neglected by the content team.

And in regards to rulebreakers/minges being on the job, the staff team is the one responsible for handing out punishments for not RPing/minging on the job.

But thats all just my opinion.

The problem here isn't that Tech Expert as a job is unable to do the thing your asking or that it's inherently flawed, it's that there's no oversight for them and only SA can job ban them. This wouldn't be an issue if the department itself actually had oversight. Removing one of the few things E&TS has the ability to do would kill the roles entirely just so Nu-7 can fix the main gate a bit quicker.
