What does this suggestion change/add/remove:
This suggestion aims to make SCIPNET into a functional aspect of the server. Currently, the system is so close to being usable and amazing for roleplay, but a few key oversights have ruined it.
- Allow all Departmental/MTF CL4+ to have "admin" permissions in their respective SCIPNET directories.
For instance, the Director of Research would have admin permissions in all directories under the FOUNDATION/SITE_65/DEPARTMENTS/RESEARCH folder. SA and FCOM would have administrator access in all directories. CI and GOC CL4+ would have admin access in their own respective SCIPNETs.
- People with admin powers should be able to; Delete files and folders in their directories. Create new folders. Edit clearance level requirements to view documents and folders. Move files into different folders, and add password protection to documents.
- Remove the year redaction in SCIPNET.
- When a member of the department uploads a document, it should send it to an administrator for approval.
Has something similar been suggested before? If so, why is your suggestion different?:
Unsure, but it's certainly still relevant.
Possible Positives of the suggestion (At least 2):
- Ability to remove outdated/unused documents from SCIPNET.
- No longer require Super Admins every time something needs to be changed on SCIPNET.
- Acts much more closely to a real life computer system, therefore more intuitive.
Possible Negatives of the suggestion:
- Possibility for document griefing, but this was already possible with filing cabinets. Backups could be done to prevent this.
Based on the Positives & Negatives, why should this suggestion be accepted:
Overall, this would make SCIPNET a much more integral part of the server rather than being a clunky, annoying system to use that is practically ignored nowadays. Documents would become much more accessible across all departments, rather than having to hunt for the singular copy of important documents.
