My interpretation of SCP-035:
SCP-035 was once the court jester of the King of Yarlagadda. He, alongside his King and his followers, was killed during the peasant uprising with the jester being beheaded and his mask shattering. However, even after death, the jester spent years wallowing and weeping in a void; with the lack of anything or anybody. Was this a purgatory for serving a monster? The jester could not understand what was happening, nor could he understand why it had happened to him. But one thing was absolutely for certain: This location was not fit for the king's royal jester. He wanted to provide entertainment for the masses, and this was the complete polar opposite from it.
However, this Jester soon realized that it was difficult to escape from a place that contained nothing. Soon, he began to wonder: Where exactly is this place? Why am I here? How did I get here?
He tried moving, but his hands felt... like they didn't exist. It didn't feel like anything existed here, it felt like... A dream.
And that, it was. It was a purgatory built in the constructs of a dream. However, SCP-343 failed to realize that purgatory built within the prism of one's own mind, while an interesting concept, was easily exploitable. The Jester soon realized his only constraint was his own mind, and with that, he began thinking. He continued doing what he loved; entertainment!
He soon crafted constructs in his own mind using the power of his purgatory created by SCP-343. Not only was this Jester able to create constructs of his own accord, but vessels for creatures too! SCP-035 could continue to entertain a Populus once again! He worked quick, thinking up some of the most entertaining people and creatures imaginable! SCP-999, Dr. Wondertainment, and many more kinds of wonderful and zany creatures.
Additionally, SCP-035 created many peasants to entertain. After all, what is a jester without his entertainees?
Only, one small issue: SCP-343 caught wind of what was going on inside of SCP-035's brain cage thousands of years after being left to his own devices. While SCP-343 had seen how SCP-035 wasn't a bad person, and he had made a mistake with trapping him inside of purgatory, he still needed to be punished. And so, the jester's mask that so long ago had been broken, and had long since been buried and forgotten, soon appeared above ground in Ancient Rome.
SCP-035's eyes fluttered to life soon after his meeting with SCP-343. He was rather annoyed he had to take a break from "purgatory", but at the very least he had interesting company. The company he was in looked at him in awe and wonder, as he had recently taken over the body of one of the village elders.
"Hooray! Our village elder has returned to health! Let us praise our god for providing us a new guardian angel!"
SCP-035 could barely understand what they were saying, as he wasn't very fluent in this new language. However, he had the knowledge from his thousands of years spent in purgatory, and could practically translate the language entirely on the spot.
Time soon came to pass, though, and SCP-035 was no longer with his own host. It appeared the village elder had decayed over time from the black slime; much to the horror of the romans. Despite this, SCP-035 still had amazing tales from his time spent in "Purgatory", and the ancient romans were interested. Additionally, he sparked their interest in goodlihood, and basically single handedly crafted a majority of the Roman's mythos.
While SCP-035 felt bad for his hosts as he was controlling them, he needn't feel bad for long. After all, he still has their conscious and their soul in his own mind as he takes over their body. As such, whenever their physically body passes, and their soul has to go to someplace else, SCP-035 sends his hosts to his own entertaining "Purgatory." This also applied to the people he killed via weapons.
SCP-035 was able to visit his hosts as well in his purgatory while he was host less, and they were always brimming with excitement and entertainment every time he visited. SCP-035's own purgatory had ended up becoming a secondary heaven, much to SCP-343's disgruntlement. Technically 343 could stop SCP-035's purgatorial manipulation at any time, however, that would require him to admit that he was wrong about something.
And so, SCP-343 pretended that it was intended the entire time, and it was all apart of his plan, and left SCP-035 to his own devices.
Time continued with the romans for a while, but eventually, civilizations fall. He had to move onto something new, something bigger: How could he entertain the world at the largest scale possible?
SCP-035 spent hundreds upon thousands of years developing the world of entertainment, and expanded upon mythos after mythos. He basically single handedly crafted the art of storytelling, and with it, a wonderful world. His own purgatory had shifted into his greatest achievement yet; he was practically a living legend! An immortal with the ability to provide an end to tedium!
Of course, all things must come to an end. Eventually, the SCP Foundation caught up with him, and locked him away for good. However, he would always want and desire the ability to entertain the masses again. Until then though, his own Purgatory would suffice when he had no host. One thing remained certain though: He could never tell the SCP Foundation about his true abilities, as they would immediately try to put an end to his life. After all, he could use that power to create any creature possible, and who knows if they'd eventually break out of Purgatory? After all, one already had.
Family, Friends, and Rivals:
SCP-999 - Pet (Enjoys sitting down with SCP-999 during breaches and feeding him Ham & Cheese sandwiches he prepares in the D-Block kitchen).
SCP-682 - Uncle-in-law (Not even a real thing, but YOU try telling him that. SCP-682 would have SCP-035 destroyed if he could manage it. SCP-035 on the other hand loves SCP-682).
SCP-079 - Friend
SCP-049 - Best-friend
SCP-966 - Pet (will commonly be violently torn apart by SCP-966 during breaches after attempting to pet them with night vision goggles on. Currently states "the love between a pet and his owner is complicated, okay?" when asked about it. SCP-035 has attempted this on 17 different occasions).
SCP-073 - Friend (Once sat down with 073 and tried to brainstorm ways he could get 076 to forgive him during a Code Black).
SCP-7722 - "Besties" (SCP-035 once slipped up around 7722 during a Code 5 and mentioned some of his experiences with 343 around 7722, sparking a friendship immediately. SCP-7722 quickly returned to his containment chamber singing religious songs from the earlier 1900s. This is the only documented instance of SCP-7722 voluntarily returning to his containment).
SCP-106 - Unfriendly Rival (One of the only SCPs 035 does not like; as SCP-106 is the antithesis of SCP-035. While SCP-035 entertains the masses; SCP-106 feeds off of pain and suffering).
SCP-860-2 - Rivals (Once rode SCP-860-2 like a bull, claims that was the best containment breach he had ever had).
SCP-343 - Friendly Rivals (SCP-035 believes SCP-343's plan was to give him the abilities he had, and as such, appreciates his help. SCP-343 is still bitter about making his first ever mistake).
SCP-049-2's - Gateway (SCP-035 attempts to bring the consciousness of the previous hosts of SCP-049-2's into his own psyche, providing them limitless entertainment).
Science Department - Ally (SCP-035 will do anything in his power to help the Foundation so that he can eventually be let free. Despite this, the Research Department is the only Department he actively enjoys helping).
