What server you were banned on: SCP-RP (UK)

Your in-game name: Jonathan Silk

Your SteamID: STEAM_0:0:82361262

Ban Reason: "Telling someone that they hope they get raped, long history of warns and bans. Just came off from a ban too. #NL"

Date of ban: August 6th

Who banned you: John Apex

Ban length: Permanent

What will you do to stop this from happening again: The first thing I did when joining the server after my ban was review the rules, and I can see that it was a violation of rule 2.04. At the time I didn't catch this myself, and I said a word which, unbeknownst to me, was a word that you absolutely could not type in chat. I understood the rule, but I didn't remember that jokingly using derogatory language wasn't an exception to it. As for my overall RP, I've been a lot more careful and observed others as a mean to remind myself of what I can and can't do. I am respectful in chat (which is more than I can say for myself a year ago) and have taken a lot more liking to the more serious aspects of the server's RP. I joined E11, tried doing some research, and rioted as dclass.

The only thing I (accidentally) did this time was use a prohibited word, which I didn't know was completely blacklisted from the server. To stop this from happening I will never use this, or any other blacklisted word, in a conversation, whether it be said in a playful context with friends (such as in this case) or with malicious intent (which you don't have to worry about since I'm not an animal).

Why should you be unbanned: iirc, I never wished for someone to be sexually assaulted. It's irritating that whoever issued this ban, happened to make an even bigger slip up and attribute a false statement like that to me. Granted, I've barely played enough on the server for you to paint an accurate image of me, but that ban reason is a gross misrepresentation of who I am as a person. If you insist on (rightfully) giving that word so much power and serious weight, then it's all the more important not to exploit my usage of it to give as harsh a punishment as possible. Just to make it clear: I'm not scrutinizing anyone in the staff team other than the guy who issued the ban. Idk maybe he was also tired (which, as with me, doesn't matter since he has an even bigger responsibility, when he's the one issuing out warranted bans and he's the one who's supposed to be on the look out for bigger reprobates than me) but now I have to write this appeal so that you guys don't get the wrong idea about me. Either I made a typo or you guys need to test this guy's reading comprehension, and I say that with the utmost care for this server and those who will inevitably be involved in the same sit as this guy. I really want to emphasize the gist of the latter sentence: I'm not attacking him, I just want you guys to take note of this serious blunder and act in a way that would be beneficial for the players whom he manages.

Either way I deeply regret my usage of the word and can assure you that this won't be happening again. I've made an effort to RP during my stint on this server and I think it would be a shame to not ever be let back on the server (despite all my effort to better my character, although not done for the purpose of playing on this server) because of a slip up, which didn't even hurt anyone or disrupt anyone's RP. I understand that you guys feel skeptical to the idea of unbanning me after seeing my record, but all my previous bans and warnings are from over a year ago and don't represent who I am.

I was also reminded of a reply to my previous ban appeal, by another admin. I didn't know I was on "probation" or anything like that since my ban appeal never got accepted. His condition to me getting blacklisted after a ban was if my appeal got accepted, which it never did. I don't want to play around with words and be annoying but I just want to let you know that I served out my full 400 days, and a lot has happened since then. I'm not at all as knowledgeable about the rules as I used to be, and you can't expect newer players to be flawless in their RP from the getgo (and with my understanding of everything on the server, not necessarily the rules, I might aswell be considered a newcomer).

Ultimate reminder: I seriously doubt I made a big enough typo for my message to be interpreted as me wishing for someone to be sexually assaulted. If you consider the nature of our conversation, you'll also see that that isn't something I would conclude our conversation with.

All things considered, I'm just someone trying to play on the server by the rules, and I admittedly made a small mistake which ultimately didn't have any consequences other than my ban. I, however, don't think I deserve a permanent ban and ask that you guys reconsider and give me a shorter ban.

Denied.

You just came off a ban that was 400 days, you claim to have read the rules yet in the same sentence say basically "i didnt think i couldn't joke about this" despite understanding the rule?

It is not appropriate ever to be telling someone in RP that you hope they "don't get raped by the gensec guards", we arent that kind of server, and content like this has never been allowed as it makes the playerbase uncomfortable and also ends up 9 times out of 10 being said to people underage as such I cannot justify unbanning you so soon after your re-ban.

If you are unable to catch yourself from doing things like this in the future it might be best to not return.

Kind Regards
Yeke
