What server you were banned on: SCP-RP (USA)
Your in-game name: Nigel Oodnadatta
Your SteamID: STEAM_0:0:17839625
Ban Reason: Inappropriate Conduct
Date of ban: 27/1/2026
Who banned you: The Apothosis
Ban length: 3 Days
What will you do to stop this from happening again: I suppose not use any threat of body violence, but clarification would be helpfull!
Why should you be unbanned: I’m appealing the 3-day ban on the basis that I don’t believe the conduct in question actually crossed the server’s 13+ line as defined or applied elsewhere on the server.
The incident occurred while I was playing a D-Class and attempting to bait a guard into a confrontation. This is a common and generally accepted form of D-Class roleplay. As part of that, I made an exaggerated violent threat while holding a knife, portraying an unstable inmate attempting to provoke a reaction.
The issue raised in the admin sit was that the server is 13+, not 18+, and that my wording was therefore inappropriate. This is where I respectfully disagree.
The statement was a violent threat, not a sexual one. It did not describe sexual activity, sexual intent, or sexual gratification. It was crude, sure, but crudeness alone is not inherently sexual. Violent threats, implied mutilation, and coarse language are all routinely present in PG-13 media, including films, television, and games, especially in prison or antagonist contexts. The server itself includes firearms, executions, monsters, and implied bodily harm, all of which are significantly more graphic than the statement in question.
If the standard is that any reference to genitalia is automatically sexual regardless of context, then that is a much stricter rule than “13+” typically implies, and one that is not clearly documented. If that is indeed the intended standard, then fair enough, but it should be clarified as a rule interpretation rather than treated as obvious or self-evident.
To be clear, this is not an argument that “anything goes.” It is an argument that context matters, and that non-sexual violent threats used in character-appropriate roleplay fall within the same category as many other forms of violence already permitted on the server.
I’m happy to accept a clarification of the rule going forward. I don’t accept, however, that this was an obvious or clear breach under a reasonable reading of a 13+ standard as commonly understood.
