Description of the incident: I believe the punishment was unfairly escalated to the maximum length and that the situation was handled in a way that was biased and inconsistent.

What happened

I resurrected a Foundation member as a Thaumatologist Researcher after they had been stabbed by another Foundation member.

My reason for doing this was to test the role’s ability/use case in an active RP situation.

I also disguised a janitor and a cadet, which I will admit to.

No incident occurred during the ~12 seconds they were disguised.

I could not find anything in the Thaumatologist handbook clearly stating that this specific use of resurrection was considered “abuse of powers.”

Despite that, an AOS was called on me, and I received the maximum possible job ban for Thaumatologist.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Why I believe this was unfair

1) The punishment was disproportionate

the response was far too severe for what actually happened:

1 resurrection of a Foundation member

1–2 disguises

no major round-impacting incident caused by the disguises

no obvious malicious intent to mass grief or sabotage

At most, this seems like something that should have been handled with:

a warning,

clarification,

or a shorter punishment.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

2) The rule basis was unclear

I checked the Thaumatologist handbook and did not see a clear rule stating this was abuse in the way it was enforced here.

If this is considered against the rules, then I would like:

the exact rule quoted,

and clarification on what Thaumatologists are and are not allowed to do with resurrection

3) Possible bias / conflict of interest

This is not my first issue involving the same person.

In a previous Thaumatologist job ban, I made a help report simply trying to figure out why I had been banned. During that sit:

there was a clip with my voice audible,

and someone was being blessed without consent,

but there were two Thaumatologists present.

The justification I was given was essentially:

“You were there, you could be heard in the clip.”

That is not the same as proving I was the one who actually committed the rule break.

From my perspective, that previous punishment also felt like I was punished based on association rather than evidence.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

4) The handling of this situation was messy and questionable

After the recent ban:

I made a sit to figure out who had job banned me,

the server crashed during that process,

I later asked the person I suspected whether he was the one who banned me,

he said no,

then about 2 minutes later he made a mixing report against me,

and he was in fact the one who had job banned me.

That sequence makes the situation feel dishonest and retaliatory, rather than impartial moderation.

What I’m asking for

I’m respectfully requesting:

A review of the Thaumatologist job ban

especially the length of it

A review by someone not directly involved

Clarification of the exact rule(s)

regarding resurrection uses as Thaumatologist

If the DOR team still believes punishment was warranted, I ask that it be reduced to something proportionate, rather than the maximum duration.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Final note

I understand facility staff have to deal with rule breaks and bad-faith players, but this does not feel like a fair or objective use of staff authority.
At minimum, I believe this deserves:

a second opinion,

a review of the evidence,

and a reconsideration of whether the maximum ban was appropriate for what actually occurred

Evidence of the incident: The same staff member has repeatedly been involved and seen both clips from the first incident and second incident if needed, I could try and get him to put what he has seen on the clips as I wasn't allowed to view them.

Hi @Zuka

Thanks for taking the time to make a player report.

Based off your statements, no server rule violations have occurred. Max timing, while annoying, is not against Server Rules.
It may be against Department Policy for ISD but this would be an In-Character issue.
For the Job Bans, I would advise reaching out to a Director of Research (Or Site Admin, if a Director issued it).
As for Thaum Usage, I would recommend reading the Legal Codex found on the Datapad, but to quote for US:
"Use of thaumaturgical abilities except when assisting/conducting an approved test, giving combative personnel weaponry, or in self-defense." - FLC (Keyword is APPROVED Test)

TL;DR: No server rule violations found/reported - in-character issues exclusively.
