What does this suggestion change/add/remove:
I am suggesting that the SCU loadout , to also include a "Infection scanner" tool, the same tool biohazards and ERT have to scan for 008 spores.
Has something similar been suggested before? If so, why is your suggestion different?:
Not that I have seen.
Possible Positives of the suggestion (At least 2):
- This would create a more properly equipped SCU setup, as the SCU unit already have the existing foam gun to clear spores, an infection scanner to check individuals of infections, and a quarantine placer.
- 008 breaches would, hopefully, be somewhat more manageable, as now alongside the 2 E-11 Bios operatives on site, an additional 2 SCU personnel would have a much greater ability to assist in locating spores being created , reducing the risk of a prolonged infection outbreak constantly.
Possible Negatives of the suggestion:
- One major issue I would see a possibility is misuse of the tool, containment units just roaming around scanning without any valid reason, while this could be handled IC as "misuse" of a tool, it could cause some RP inconsistencies or frustrations.
Based on the Positives & Negatives, why should this suggestion be accepted:
Personally I believe this should be accepted as, this addition would enhance the SCU's effectiveness in handling biohazard scenarios. As the SCU already posses most tools needed for such related containment , such as the foam gun and quarantine placer, but are missing the infection scanner, which would fit naturally and be an appropriate addition. While you could argue this makes SCUs too strong, they do not spawn with hazmat's, and while yes hazmat's can be purchased, hazmat's remove armor, leaving the user more vulnerable, and the 15 minute cooldown creates a more fair balance. Overall, the infection scanner would simply align with the SCUs intended role , and would support more immersive and effective biohazard breaches.
