What does this suggestion change/add/remove:
This suggestion would change the layout of the Surface Lobby/Compound and add more available space through:
  • Utilizing the second and third floors by adding office space or rooms that could be utilized for whatever reason by members of SOP or Foundation as a whole.
  • There is a unpopulated and inaccessible building located in the surface compound. Make it accessible and have something similar to what we had before in compound to where we could have a proper interrogation/holding room as well as surface advanced armory

  • At this current time, it seems pointless to evacuate to surface during Code Black as it could result in info breach and if the FSL Blast Door is down and you evacuate to garage, SCPs can easily just break down the door to garage and kill everyone. I think something should be done about this and make it less pointless to evacuate during a big SCP breach. My idea I had was have big blast doors on the windows of the lobby activate during Code Black (stops the info breaching), but you'd still have to do something about the revolving door and people just running out onto surface. If you add more space to the surface lobby like more floors, you could have people go on the other floors instead of directly in the lobby.
I don't mean to be rude to the person who designed the new surface compound, it looks amazing, but it just feels rushed and unfinished.

Has something similar been suggested before? If so, why is your suggestion different?:
Not for this new map

Possible Positives of the suggestion (At least 2):
It could provide the chance for more RP, and could always be removed in the future if the rooms go unused.
Makes evacuating the site less pointless and not just a death trap in garage.

Possible Negatives of the suggestion:
More stuff on the map, I'd assume it'd make it laggier?
CI might complain saying its harder to raid since you have more points to hold the lobby during a raid, etc.
The space might go unused depending on what the servers decide to do with it.

Based on the Positives & Negatives, why should this suggestion be accepted:
I understand that we just got this whole new map update to foundation, but it could allow for more RP by giving more utilizable space that could be used for Embassies, Civi RP that wouldn't lead to info breaches etc.

Hi @teeheeNero,

I won't be making the upper floors of the new compound building accessible for numerous reasons, them being that there is such a thing as too much space that will go unused and it adding to the consistently increasing map vertex count that is already nearing Source limits. We refer to areas that the player cannot access as "world building areas" which are there for show and not for use (i.e. below Core Sector bridge) and the upper floors are there to capture the foundations large complex vibe. As for the electrical building beside the carpark, that is not meant to be accessed and yet again is a waste of vertexes when you already have two rooms inside the main building to use for an armoury and interrogation. In this coming hotfix update I have connected the hallway to the other side to allow for dragging hostages around through the garage, rather than through the main lobby.

In addition to this, I am quite offended by your remark of my update being "rushed and unfinished". If it feels that way to you, please go learn how to make maps on the Source Engine and all the bullshit that come with it and then apply to be a mapper at Civil Networks. Otherwise, Shut. Up.

Kind Regards,

While it would be nice to have those areas, I can see why they're not there. I think it makes sense for now to just leave them out until there's actual plans for what should be there. The AA can already just go in e.g. the storage room attached to the garage hallway, and I'm fairly sure there is AA there on UK.

I think maybe a surface-level meeting room would be a nice addition for talking with e.g. civilians or neutral/hostile factions that you don't want to invite into the site, but beyond that, I don't think there's much that the surface level area doesn't already have.
