Hey guys, I have been playing on the server for a few weeks now and I’m having fun. I love playing as Medical Personnel and as SCP. I was playing as D-Class the other day and heard someone metagaming pretty hardcore based on the SCP breach timer
“We might want to leave because an SCP is gonna breach in like 5 minutes.”
This led me to realize that in the current state of the SCP breach queue, it is entirely possible to predict approximately when breaches will occur. Now while I’m sure most people don’t keep track, there are likely a handful of hardcore players who keep tabs on all this stuff and it made me realize that the only SCP I don’t think you can predict is the one that spawns on the surface through the random SCP breach queue system.
This led me to an idea that I’d love to hear some thoughts about from the community as a whole. Of course I don’t think this would ever be added but I just wanted to put this out into the forum and hear some thoughts from others.
Most people who play SCP will probably tell you that sitting around and waiting for hours at a time is dreadfully boring and a completely uninteractive gameplay experience, and while of course that is the point of being an anomalous entity locked away in a top secret research facility, I feel like it doesn’t do the people who want to have meaningful roleplay experiences as SCP’s any justice. As someone who frequently plays as SCP’s, Whenever testing is done by researchers (if it is done at all (yes there have been multiple occasions where I’ll be sitting in my chamber for 3+ hours with no testing done)) it is usually a 5 minute sampling interaction where no real roleplay can be done. My most enjoyable experiences roleplaying as SCP’s has been once as 049, where I was interviewed by a D-Class.
Anyways I’m rambling now, onto my main way of feeling this can be fixed.
I think that if all SCP’s had the same random breach queue, much like the surface queue SCP, it would be a better QOL for people who want to play SCP’s.
To add onto this I think the server may benefit from having SCP, NPC’s. For when there is no breach happening and no player is controlling the SCP’s.
Now realistically, I would love a world where testing was happening frequently enough that I felt like I could stay on an SCP and roleplay as them properly, but at present playing as one is a waiting simulator.
Let me know any thoughts, this is my first discussion post and would love feedback and just to hear ideas and others feelings about the current state of the playable SCP’s
