What Ethics Committee role are you applying for, and why: I am Applying for the role of Ethics Committe Member, The reason i am applying as i have a deep understanding of the Ethics Committe in RP within Civil and outside of Civil, I believe my past and current roles have helped me build a solid foundation of Leadership and a High-level of understanding of the inner workings of RP and Foundation work
What makes you the best candidate for the Ethics Committee?: I have a background as an MTF CO and i am currently an Inspector for ISD, i have participated in Major RP's Such as:
Operation "Watchglass" - Nu7's 'Codeine Cartel'
I made significant contributions to the operation by questioning and interrogating primary suspects in the Operation, I also was embedded into Nu-7 where i uncovered the identity of someone who was mentioned as a member of the Codeine Cartel founders, at the time known only by "Heisenberg" Through my investigations and RP i uncovered an individual by the name of Max "Heisenberg" Jones.
Operation "The Sword Does Not Judge" - Ethical violations commited by Alpha-1 & 05 Council Assistants
Throughout this operation i have been a main contributor of evidence for the operation by interviewing/meeting with members of the council, Assistants, Medical Leadership, Members of ISD, Eye-witnesses and Alpha-1, through theese meetings i gained plenty of evidence against Assistant Martin Owen to use in a tribunal against himself for Ethical Violations, this tribunal may also extend to members of the Council who Aided or facilitated the Violations.
My backgound as an MTF CO and my current position have taught me the necessary leadership skills for senior positions and i can apply theese skills effectively and i know what i am doing and i have knowledge of how the Committee operates in and out of RP as well as knowledge of lore such as(Theese may also fall under responsibilites of the Committee);
"Tanhony's Propasal"
It shows a scenario where the Committee has authority to demand to stop any actions they deem as "unethical". When denied, they may propose "Primary Action" It also presents a case where the Ethics Committee explicitly evaluates actions of the O5 Council regarding the use of SCP-001.
"The Foundation Eats Babies"
The Committee openly considers “how to minimize harm” or find alternatives, even in situations many would outright reject, They reflect on implications beyond the immediate effect: how reports are written, language choices, how they affect people’s perception, and even how internal documentation might normalize or mask unethical behavior.
The "Ethics Committee Orientation"
The Ethics Committee isnt just a symbol; they are the "secret" power inside the Foundation.
Their job is advisory to the O5 Council
They decide what actions are necessary and which are excessive or unethical.
What are the responsibilities of the Ethics Committee in RP?:
The Ethics Committee is perhaps the most complex group among Class-A Personnel. Their duties are complex and extensive. Some of the basic duties within Civil Networks may be, and not limited to:
- Declaring "Code Black" during severe containment breaches.
- Activation of the Fail-Safe known as the "Alpha" or "Omega" Warheads, immediately destroying the site or its surrounding area to prevent a severe breach reaching the surface.
- Mass site-wide amnestication in the event of a large-scale info-breach, or after an SCP-008 breach, to erase most personnel’s knowledge of the breach and the nature of the SCP.
- Authorising the usage of advanced armoury to assist in the containment of breached SCPs, usually when 2 Euclids or more are breached.
- Authorising mass termination during extremely large riots in D-Block, where D-Class have started sieging/overtaking the area outside of Inner D-Block.
- Overseeing the Tribunal System, ensuring that all documentation is up to date and maintained well, and participating in High Tribunals.
- Management and maintenance of the Foundation Legal Codex, ensuring that all Codex rules are properly defined and editing current rules.
- Deployment of Emergency Response Teams if a breach has lasted longer than 10 minutes and is proving hard or slow to contain.
- Authorising tests that prove ethically questionable, such as maiming SCPs, termination tests, or 008 tests.
- Upholding the public image that the Ethics Committee is a CL4 group.
Some of the more advanced/complex duties may include:
- Primary Action – The Ethics Committee advises the O5 Council on ethical dilemmas. The O5 can choose to accept or deny the Ethics Committee’s advice. In extreme circumstances, where the Committee will not take no for an answer, they can use "Primary Action," which will let them force the Council to listen by using orders from The Administrator. Primary Action should only be debated if all other options are exhausted, and the Committee believes that the Council’s actions will rise to the point where it is a viable option to replace the Council as a whole.
- Monitoring the actions of all Class-A Personnel, most notably the O5 Council, ensuring that they uphold the Foundation’s mission statement at all times.
- Assisting Site Administration, if the situation calls for it, to act as a middleman or as neutral ground.
- Making sure that the Mission Statement is followed, ensuring resources are being appropriately used, and that the Research Department is on track.
- Ethics Committee Assistant Applications - Posted in a forum for the Committee to Vote on.
- Ethics Committee Member Applications - Posted in a forum for the Committee to Vote on, if agreed upon will move on to an interview with the Ethics Committee Chairman
- Director Of Internal Security - Posted in a forum for the Committee to Vote on.
- On Rare Occasion, Appointing Omega-1 REGCOM(Commander / Lt Commander)
Please give some lore about your Ethics Committee character and what storylines they would be involved in: Personnel File; Adrian Locke
