" What Ethics Committee role are you applying for, and why? "
I'm applying for the Ethics Committee Chairman/Chairwoman position.
I have prior experience but that experience wasn't viable to be utilised on the UK server. Believe me I know I've got a decent way to go, I know my flaws and do my best to fix them upon recognition. For me, hitting ECC would be a massive milestone, one that I’d embody and attempt to use in a positive light to help improve the server. Introducing more fun storylines (MTF, ISD, RSD and possibly GSD ones pending), and situations that some can find enjoyable. I can be an approachable voice to help people if they so need it, or put my foot down on situations that go against the foundation's FLC or mission statement.
" What makes you the best candidate for the Ethics Committee? "
Through my time as ECM thus far during my Jr stages, I've had to handle a plethora of complex situations both IC and OOC. There have been many incidents of miscommunication that I'm aiming to fix and solve. If I'm given the chance to become the ECC, then I'll improve my communication skills. Ensuring all parties' voices are heard and decisions are deemed as fair. It's been a hectic start for me, but I'm adapting. Along with such I'm planning on introducing more rp based scenarios in collaboration with GMs and varying departments. I tend to answer my comms as soon as I can and respond quickly to multiple requests of presence. I’m an advocate for collaboration, working with varying departments to ensure an easy work flow.
On a similar note I tend to listen more than I do speak, a trait I think is a needed one for an ECC. Without the necessary information, how is someone supposed to come to a fair and just solution? Assumptions can cause more harm than good. I have good relations with a lot of individuals on site, and aim to only improve upon said relations.
As an example of my leadership, I’ve already handled an incident regarding an event ecm causing issues around site and posing a risk to site staff. I gathered the evidence and took the ecm in for questioning where he was then sent off site to Paris for a high tribunal for multiple FLC violations and acting in a manner that could ruin the reputation of the Ethics Committee. Along with that I won't stand for a stranger to the site arriving and insulting the competent staff on the site. (Thank you for the headache of this event ecm Helman I guess it gave me a way to prove myself)
In terms of why i'd make a great ecm in other terms, I'll keep it simplified for the people who prefer less 'yappy' responses;
Excellent documentation along with expectation of decent to high standards, this can be utilized for going over FLC and ensuring wording and punctuation of it is clear and concise. This also included collaboration with my fellow ECM’s in developing new policies that may be required for the FLC. Excellent documentation work will be useful in maintaining ooc documentation, along with improving wording / punctuation.
Excellent RP capability, unless something incredibly unexpected occurs, I rarely break character and will tend to react to occurrences with the opinions of my character. This ensures that unless stated in an ooc manner, or unless it's been deemed by admins or GM's that the occurrence isn't valid, my reactions and interactions are genuine.
Excellent observational capabilities, this allows me to gather details needed or pick out individuals on possible lies or misinformation. I prefer to gather all details before coming to a final decision on a situation to ensure my course of action is fair and just within the confines of the FLC and Ethical standards. If I'm missing information, I will gather what's necessary for my final choices to be made. I avoid opinions and focus on the facts of the situation. This also allows me to defuse argumentative situations that may turn violent.
Collaboration efforts; In all scenarios I do my best to ensure I'm not overstepping. I will however assist if it's requested, if it of course isn't in combat as I'm primarily a non combative individual. For example, when it comes to ISD I usually allow them to handle arrests if they're around and witness it, if they need some assistance I will typically help. I will step in to solve situations when I deem it necessary, some situations can only be resolved with clear and stern leadership.

Storyline wise, along with storylines I'm planning on igniting this year there are a couple, mainly bringing my long standing one to a close. There are a few I haven't ignited yet.
People know about the entity known as ‘jester’, that Helman adopted by force. That was linked to my ‘Tavern in-between’ event. It was silly fun for all of the foundation, but important on the note for IE. They needed information, and the bartender was willing to divulge it, at a small request.
As of current the final event in this story line will occur hopefully on the 11th of January. If I have not completed the event by the time this application is posted, I will give and update after it has been hosted. The title of which will be ‘Requilery of a madman.’ Here's hoping it goes to plan!

" What are the responsibilities of the Ethics Committee in RP? "
The Ethics Committee operates on a long standing lie, to be seen as 'useless pencil pushers', as they are the ones who deem what is necessary for the mission statement. Their name “ The Ethics Committee “, is merely a front, a disguise. They prioritise themselves to ensuring the foundation remains on its path and upholds its principles of Secure, Contain, Protect. One of The Ethics Committee's most vital duties is the observation of the O5 Council and their practices, to protect them from corruption. They will intervene when the council participates and orders unethical procedures. The Ethics committee will prioritise passive interaction and partake in advisatory actions with the O5. If threats or directives are utilised, there is a risk of exposure to the primary action, resulting in further conflict affecting the site as a whole.
Primary Action is the utilisation of MTF Omega 1 to mass terminate the O5 council, subsequent replacements will then be allotted. Utilisation of this drastic action requires an Ethics Committee vote, and utilisation of such acts as a mark to show the failure of the Ethics committee to prevent corruption among the O5 rankings.
The Ethics Committee will intervene if they believe a test has no value to the foundation other than for the maim or harm those involved in the test. This could be the anomaly itself being tested in a manner more akin to blatant torture, or researchers inhumanely utilizing D-class for tests sending them to their deaths without the proper procedures being taken. The Ethics Committee Ensure Ethical and humane treatments of D-class personnel being utilised for research, and the same for sentient or sapient anomalies within containment.
The Ethics Committee will also hold other higher ranking positions and individuals on site accountable for any FLC breaches, they do this by collaborating with ISD by aiding in approval of Tribunal requests, and if necessary will act as judges in legal cases. Overall they work with ISD to ensure any and all departments are following the Legal codex. No one is immune from the law of the site, not even those who write it. Along with this, they observe the site-wide actions to ensure adherence to the FLC and mission statement, every department with their rules and policies.
Along this note, the Ethics committee will perform regular audits on all departments to ensure the ongoing following of the FLC and documentation standards are upheld.
The Ethics Committee utilizes and manages Ethics Committee Assistants to keep eyes around the site, to ensure the smooth running of operations of each department. This is done through placing project orders, for both personal and general posts for information collected to be combined and verified. If necessary they will utilize MTF Omega-1 to aid in more controversial operations, or to act as additional informants through orders and POI boards. However it should be stated that MTF O1 's connections to the Ethics Committee is prohibited knowledge by anyone other than Site staff of clearance SR CL4 and up. The Assistants and O1 are proxies for the Ethics Committee.
With the recent lore changes on the servers, they are now referred to as Law Enforcement (LE), and this guise is to be held for their operational security.
The Ethics Committee can utilize site Apparatus' such as;
> Calling in Emergency Response Teams, this could be in instances of particularly nasty breaches, breaches where the utilisation of AA has not been successful in stopping said breach. Another use is to call for an additional unit of ERT if the initial agents have failed in their efforts.
> Utilisation of the Alpha Warhead, activation of the Alpha Warhead should only be utilised when ERT and other containment efforts of anomalies or biohazards have failed. A code black is to be called to allow for site staff evacuation, after a short time span it can then be activated.
> Site wide Amnestications is to be used in instances of mass information leaks that can and will affect the ongoing of site procedures. ECO, Floor 3 and Emergency Operation Center are areas where the mass amnestication will not reach. As individuals in these locations tend to have the clearance necessary to know the information, unless stated otherwise. If certain CL4 individuals are not permitted to know but are in any of these locations, they must be amnesticated manually.
> Mass terminations of D-class personnel, this is for instances where multiple sweeps have failed and they still have access to weaponry or the information they’re leaking. In situations of mass infection outbreak for cases such as 008, Mass termination is also utilized to restrict the possibility of a site wide breach.
Those are merely the basics of the baseline ECM position, the ECC shares a more vital role. They enact as the direct counterpart for their overseer opposite. Ensuring they do not diverge from the mission statement of the foundation for their own personal gain. This doesn't just apply for the overseer council, but also for the ECC’s own members.
The ECC is responsible for the actions of the Ethics members beneath them, it's their responsibility to ensure they do not forget what their position entails and their duty to the foundation. In the case of an ECM breaching the FLC, it's the duty of the ECC to act as the judge in the case, and come to a final verdict. So be it a removal or sent for a higher tribunal.
" What are the responsibilities of the Ethics Committee out of RP (e.g. what applications do they handle? "
As a CL5 holder, individuals holding the rank of ECM & O5 are expected to act as Roleplay leaders. Assisting in keeping ongoing scenarios in check and assisting in creating such story lines for the enjoyment of those around them. This includes collaboration with the members of O5 to ensure consistent decent to high quality story lines for the player base.
Appointment of New Ethics members along with training the new individuals on their purpose and role, Omega-1 Commanders, Ethics committee Assistants and ISD Directors. Along with this responsibility they must offer feedback to individuals applying in these positions with introductions depending on the position (O-1 Commander, ECA and ECM. ISD director if there isn't one currently appointed).
Participation in O1 regimental meetings to voice opinions on how to better the regiment, and help with maintaining it. Along with this to issue orders to them.

“ Well, it’s been quite an eventful month for me. First the elevation then these consistent, idiotic… Situations site members get themselves into. But at the very least all areas were solved properly and fairly. I will never understand how people can simply follow what nervousness in their gut tells them to. It's completely unjustified for most scenarios. Maybe luck puts forward a chance for a situation to be solved- but no one should rely on luck for their larger choices. Facts should be what individuals place their reliance on, without it fear can control one's mind and lead to impulsive irrational decisions that I keep on witnessing. “
[ The Ethics member sighs ]
“ Gods, the recent situations with ISD, the enforcement team and other such things have caused me a major headache. Either way I still need to focus on sorting the underlying issues. The more people complain the more my sanity reaches its limits, honestly moving something a few meters can cause an uproar. Some of these complaints hold no weight either. It's ridiculous. Regardless, all can say their peace, I won’t force them to silence, the more perspective I can gain the better. So be it negative or positive. Some voices however should never be heard. Not only that, it seems people are at each other's throats for little to no reason, arguing over the slightest of details.“
[ She shuffles a stack of paper as the sound of a stapler can be heard. ]
“ Sometimes I wonder how far along in my research I could have gone, how much more I would know than being here now. I visit site-98 frequently for updates but unfortunately there hasn't been much advancement. Merely setbacks. Perhaps the project Ehrindil ordered may hold some weight in this equation, perchance acting as a layer of safety for those involved. Lumen levels can hinder the beasts from the void. Maybe that's our key to capturing one for further research. That hound Helman has adopted could turn hostile, we need a failsafe if that does happen. But no matter what I say in regards to it, Helman will likely try to order my death- Man's best friend… To the most literal sense I suppose. “
“ Thus far, for the most part me and -4 get along best, -2 is a tamer variant of Helman-.. And with the other two I'm not too certain on their prospects in regards to me, despite that, my aim to appear as a simple pencil pusher remains. That's not what Helman seems to do, I can’t read that man, his perspective, nor his next movements. Ehrindil follows the cold not cruel mentality mostly but tends to follow the more arctic levels of cold so to say… More level headed than our counterpart. Even so he still tends to be on other sites more so than this one. As for o1, I hope I've gained the trust and respect of most of them. I still have my own reservations about them putting their lives on the line for me- however I know it's a part of their job description. The easier I can be for them, the better. Helman causes them enough grief. “
[ She sighs placing down a file, a light tap is heard as she opens it before a sip from her mug is taken. ]
“ I feel as though I've vented enough for this, here's hoping the next chairman or woman helps strengthen the foundation… Not tear it apart. “
