What Ethics Committee role are you applying for, and why:
I am applying for the role of Ethics Committee Chairman.

The reason I am going for this position is because of my passion for the server. As the Chairman, I will be able to drive more change and help improve the standards and efficiency of the server during my time as Chairman. My want to help people when I can, assisting them with what they need to improve. Another reason for this application is that, ever since I joined the server, I've had a desire to learn more about what the Ethics Committee does and how it operates. Since becoming an ECM I have thoroughly enjoyed every moment of it, from the interactions with people to assisting with decisions being made. I want what is best for the server especially those under the ethics directly like O-1, ECA's and ISD. With the systems they control, enhancing them and making sure they are efficient enough for everyone to understand. The final point for this is because of my own personal growth. In this position I would gain more knowledge about myself and the server, elevating my ability to create RP on an even greater scale.

What makes you the best candidate for the Ethics Committee?:
Let's start with the plans I have for what's currently under the committee's direct oversight.

Omega-1:
Omega-1 has improved a lot since I started as an Ethics Member. They have tackled the problems outlined to them with the assistance of the ethics committee and have made leaps and bounds compared to before. As of now, Omega-1 needs to ensure they always have active tasking to partake in whenever possible. My current plans for Omega-1 are as follows:

  1. Plan and create a storyline for all of Omega-1 to partake in via the use of long-term events.
  2. Ensure orders are given out regularly for Omega-1 to partake in.
  3. Watch over their squadrons and utilize their specialties.
  4. Support the CO team with whatever they need.

ECA:
The ECAs are in a good spot right now. They have many orders, and the committee is actively assigning tasks. Since they are doing well, my plans for them are not extensive.

  1. Rework the mentoring system to get it running smoothly.
  2. Ensure assistants are being given tasks when on the server.
  3. Attempt to find ways to get more tribunals for assistants to partake in.
  4. Reimplement assistant feedback with the start of the new year.

ISD:
ISD is actively being reviewed by all of ethics, and changes are being implemented with the help of the directors as needed. As changes are made, the current plan is to observe them and make amendments where required based on feedback and reports. The plans for ISD include:

  1. Looking at policies in place and making updates where seen fit. Along with overseeing the changes and making amendments where needed.
  2. Review the recent mistakes and work more closely with ISD Leadership going forward.
  3. Review their operations and ensure consequences are being pushed due to the investigations.

That's all for the specifics under the committee. I will now state general reasons why I am the best candidate.

Roleplay:
One of the primary qualifications for a position like this is your roleplay standards. Over the past year, I have grown a lot and improved tenfold in how I conduct myself during different scenarios. I have become someone people can look to for examples of how they could improve their roleplay. As for the roleplay I create, I always make sure that the people that are involved are given something to do. I have always strived to make sure it is engaging and fun, always attempting to involve as many people as possible. One of my greatest strengths is that I can create on-the-fly roleplay a lot of the time which fills the gaps when people don't have a lot to do. Some examples of roleplay that I have led:

  • A-1 and CI storyline: Mainly focused on R&D and attempting to use their R&D to create weapons for A-1 to use. This storyline eventually got reworked into being used to gain info from CI often resulting in bounties being placed on people for them to kidnap for us so we can interrogate them.
  • A-1 Informants: Lead this program for a while and would help decide which informants do what. Brought a lot of new people into it and taught other A-1 how to do checkups/meetings with informants. Did use informants to help with an assassination at one point. Also integrated them better with the black squad for usage when needed.
  • A-1 Chips: Found out about the compramised chips which led to me having to get them replaced incase they were used for the wrong thing. During that time the DoM was Class-Ed so I had to try and help her find a way to do the surgery again and once that was done had to take A-1 one by one without getting caught by a certain O5.
  • A-1 MAJ Vinyls disappearance: This happened when I transferred to Omega-1. The roleplay that was created around it was pretty simple the MAJ had left a note and then vanished. He left behind a vial of Class-E and it was up to A-1 to figure out where he went and if the amnestication was appropriately done. It led to some good interactions between me and the A-1 at the time, forcing me to always be on guard. It also meant I had kept some of my knowledge from my time as A-1 to use when needed.
  • GOC Token: Something I wish I had done more with at the time is when the was when I had done a favour for the LTCOL of GOC and in return he had given me a "wish token". Basically stating I could ask anything of them and they would do it no questions asked. My plan was originally to use it for the O5 to gain information, but when I switched over to O-1 I waited to see what the ECC at the time wanted to do with it. In the end I never felt like I had a good enough reason to use it and I wish I had.

Leadership:
During my time on this server, I have been a MAJ in two different MTFs. My time in E-11 was mainly spent focusing on the betterment of the regiment attempting to redesign internal systems. One of the main changes I sought was to redesign how the sub-regiment Drill Seargents worked and ran. As for A-1, I lead various RP scenarios for the regiment to participate in while again aiming to raise the regiment's standards. I spent a lot of time guiding people trying to get them to branch out to do their own RP. Because of this experience I am used to having to lead a large group of people, especially in RP scenarios. I know how to delegate effectively making sure that not one person is doing all the work. I also tend to make sure people are getting to do what they want as often as possible.
A perfect example of when I have shown leadership was when I led the assisination on the O-1 COM Assassin. During the setup we had people on cams looking for him and once spotted in medbay we got people stationed outside. The original plan was just to shoot him and run, however I suggested we use the lights to make them go blind as we had NVGs on. When he walked out, I used my communication skills with the person on CCTV to get a PID and started the countdown for the lights. On one we all put our NVG's on and killed the Commander. The other 2 were able to get away however I did end up getting killed in the aftermath. This is just one example of being able to organise and lead a whole team across different areas.

Conflict Resolution:
First focusing on OOC Conflict. I am used to having to deal with complaints about people. Going at it with a non-biased opinion and just trying to see how people could improve so they don't make the same mistake twice was what I always strive for. Coming at it with a calm demeanor and not looking to pass the blame onto people. Always looking for the root problem in an attempt to better the regiment and the players.
Secondly IC conflict. I am used to having to deal with AO conflicts because of my time in A-1. I tend to attempt a more diplomatic approach before any guns start shooting. Reaching out to the opposing side for answers and launching an investigation if possible. This is something ECMs will have to deal with as the direct command of Omega-1.

Communication:
My communication has always been one of the greatest strengths I have in my opinion. I often give feedback to people on how they could improve and look to better myself too. I reach out when I can for feedback from others in the hopes I can learn from any mistakes. I also know how to communicate with people who are in other departments/regiments. The primary example of this would be the A-1 and CI RP that I had where I would have to communicate with CI most of the time to IC and OOC trying to better it every day.

Ethics Assistant Experience:
Before I was an Ethics Member I was given the chance to play the role of an Ethics Assistant. During that time I have posted two orders for the other assistants to participate in, one being a research opportunity to help combatives during breaches. I have also received many requests from other foundation members, which I have dealt with or forwarded to an ECM. I have also overseen a Tribunal during my time as an assistant. I learnt a lot during this period which made me into a stronger Ethics Member.

Ethics Member Experience:
As an Ethics Member, I have attempted to push changes and involved people in many froms of roleplay that I have created. For example;

  • The GOC war, which lasted a weekend that was overseen by me. Ensuring it didn't go on for too long and planning around the server's needs. Also understanding when it was needed to be ended so people didn't get burnt out.
  • Talks with CI to see what could be brought about to look for ways to have “some” diplomatic relations between us. Ensuring that DEA was given the chance to do these talks and have a say in what they would like out of this.
  • The ISD policy changes that have recently been pushed. This has helped me build more confidence in what should be done in the role. This has served as a reminder about how important communication is. This has also given me more confidence in myself, allowing me to trust that I know what should be done.
  • Omega-1 RP - This has come in many forms but during my time as an ethics member I have always given Omega-1 RP to interact with. This has come in many form and even in different characters. This includes the orders I have issued and the operations I have started. I do pride myself on always aiming to give O-1 tasks when possible.
  • ECA RP - Again, like the O-1 I have always been involved in what the assistants are doing. This does come directly from the fact I am the current liaison. I am always looking at ways to improve how the assistant program works and also ensure that tasks are being handled.
I have spent a lot of time as an Ethics Member focusing on fun and interactive RP, always ensuring small storylines can be pushed forward. I do mainly focus on the day-to-day interactions that I have with people that arn’t always going to become big storylines.

What are the responsibilities of the Ethics Committee in RP?:
Tribunals

When someone who's getting arrested requests a tribunal, or when the charges require one, it would be Ethics who handles the tribunal requests. Once they have them, they will assign someone to preside over the tribunal as its judge. Depending on the nature of the incident along with the rank of the person being arrested an ECA can preside as judge. From there it would go up to an ECM then the ECC, depending on the severity.

Omega-1
Omega-1 is Ethics personal MTF group to be utilized however the committee sees fit. Their main duty is the protection of committee members and will often be seen by their side. Ethics will send Omega-1 in to do their dirty work when needed.

Ethics Assistants
Ethics Members are allowed to have a Personal Assistant that they can use as they need. However, as a whole the Ethics Members will always delegate what they can to the Assistants on site. Having them carry out meetings for them and bringing anything of need up to their level.

ISD & FLC
With this being the department they directly oversee they will often do checkups and meetings with current CL4 members of this department. A big part of this is the upkeep of the FLC. The Ethics Committee is directly responsible for any changes that are to be made to this codex.

Oversight of Departments
As the Chairman, you will always want to know what is going on in each department and ensure that the foundation's standards are upheld. You can do this via ECA or O-1 proxies. Sending them in to investigate/infiltrate and gather information about areas that a specific department might be lacking. Once you have that info, you will be able to create RP for everyone to get involved in and make sure IC punishments are handed out if needed.

The longest lie
As the chairman, you need to ensure that this lie is upheld to all personnel who aren't in the know. You should make sure that the ECAs are being properly taught how to go about this and encourage them to do some RP surrounding it. This does also go for the ECMs.

Training ECMs
I would say this is more of an IC thing mainly because of the way Broda has gone about it. Taking an ECM out and about with you and giving them on the job training is a great way for them to learn by example. Of course, this training also needs to be done OOC to ensure all goals are reached.

Primary Action
Not much to say about this one apart from when the entirety of the O5 council is acting out of term, it would be down to the chairman to call for the vote to be held. ECMs can each call for a vote if specific O5 are acting out of term. With the use of Omega-1 to carry the deeds out.

Interactions with O5
As a ECM or ECC it is your duty to ensure you are communicating with O5 attempting to get to know them more. This relationship you build with them will eventually lead to more RP against them later on. Untill the point however it ensure a smooth operation allowing you to do as needed.

General authoring/code duties
This includes: calling code blacks when needed, Authing AA as and when required during a breach, Making sure BD's are being used properly, Authing mass term if D-Class are getting too out of hand, Calling in ERT and then nuking the site should that fail.

What are the responsibilities of the Ethics Committee out of RP (e.g. what applications do they handle?):
Applications

As the ECC, you are directly responsible for approving or denying ECM applications and providing feedback when needed. You must also conduct the interview for this role upon stage completion. You can also provide the ECA liaison with your opinion on current ECA apps that are up and even veto them if needed. DoISD is another application where you have a major say. Again you can veto them if needed, but ideally you would give an opinion for the liason to deal with.
This one isn't really an application but you are also directly responsible for handing out the position of Omega-1 Commander. This is again a vote of confidence by the entire committee, who will come together to deliberate among the candidates.

Omega-1
As the Chairman you are responsible for working with the O-1 liaison to ensure CO standards are being upheld. Mainly focusing on those within REGCOM. You must be part of the evaluation of said members and provide feedback on areas they could improve. You are also able to give out medals at their regimental meetings to anyone you deem worthy.

Documentation
As the Chairman, you are responsible for all ethics documents out of game and ensuring they are up to date with the latest info. This can be assisted by liaisons updating their own places as they progress.

O5 communication
This must be done to ensure you are both on the same page regarding site-wide problems. Working with them to implement changes/fixes.

FLC
The FLC falls directly under the ethics committee and they should always be working to ensure changes are made to keep it up to date.

Please give some lore about your Ethics Committee character and what storylines they would be involved in:

I will say he has even gone out of his way to create and facilitate rp for not only SOP with bettering relations between CI but also personally helped facilitate roleplay with other factions such as ci by speaking and even meeting with the insurgency himself

Just give him the role already SSL (stop being sleepy and wake tf up and do it already

Definitely was a bit shaky on how you are as a person, but seeing how you dealt with the Research Audit yesterday, you let things flow and controlled the situation to make something interesting and engaging from something that should have been mundane.
It was a big sway of my opinion of you despite the bullying. Don't you dare call me Garfungle again tho...
