Why are you applying for the Chief of Security?

- I have been playing GSD basically since i started playing on the server and i have only stepped away from it briefly for medical, however after returning i have found that my heart belongs to gensec and i have been actively playing it mainly, this has given me the motivation to make a push and reach a position like CoS, as i find that this is a good opportunity for me to move forward within the foundation as an individual while helping my favourite department.

Another reason why i want to apply is that i have personally seen situations where relationships with other departments can get rough, and as a person that gets along with the rest of the site, i would like to fix this aspect and do as much as i can to sort out situations beyond the capabilities of a Captain. At the end of the day what i wish is for GSD to be better and move forward.

What makes you suitable for Chief of Security?:

- I have been playing GSD for a while now alongside my previous experience as a captain and other Cl4 leadership roles such as consultant, so i believe i have learned enough throughout this time to be able to properly perform my duties as CoS.
Beyond my time as a Gensec member, my time in other departments expanded my leadership experience to more than one department, giving me a wider range of knowledge relevant to the role that will help me be able to adapt better to different situations.
In terms of what makes me a good member of GSD and a potential Chief, my time in GSD from cadet to Captain has made me really enjoy this department and give anything for it, which translates well into the drive i have to make sure this great department is not only working well, but is excelling and being the greatest department on site.

What are the responsibilities of the Chief of Security in RP?:

- The chief of security keeps watch and makes sure the entire department of security is functioning at its best, keeping the department up to date with any updates through announcements, managing the applications for Sergeants and Captains, doing meetings every week and overall managing the entire department to make sure everyone is following the rules and keeping up with their duties.
The Chiefs also deal with other departments to deal with any cooperation or interactions that may range from positive or resolving any negative interactions to make sure GSD can properly work alongside the rest of the site.

Please give some lore about your Chief of Security character and what storylines they would be involved in:

My character, Father Dave is a dedicated member of Gensec who aside from doing their job, takes on the role of Gensec's unofficial clergyman to assist any religious members of staff. At the moment i havent leaned much into storyline RPs but i wish to explore more of this in the future and make my character more well known within the site.
You may have seen Father dave around, or at least one of the many Bible documents he has written down. He also offers funeral services in case of loss of a coworker or pet Dclass

I haven't really seen you around much for GSD, nor much for them in game. I've also not seen you attempt to create roleplay for the department.

The application is okay'ish but you are missing some extra duties that a Chief of Security does.

Nonetheless, best of luck with your application!

Really friendly guy
Loves GSD and has a good understanding of the role
Long standing member of GSD, considering I myself promoted him to captain like 2 or 3 years ago.

As for the response below - I completely disagree. Not only is dave a much respected member (father) of gensec, he is incredibly active in the role in making roleplay and changes to the dpt, for example in making suggestions for new divisions.

Thank you all, good luck large dave

Could you post your ktime (thanks @ArcherOfLegend) for us?

I respect your "why" you want to be CoS, but I'm not sure it entirely addresses what you will bring to the position or what you want to accomplish with GSD, besides improving inter-departmental relations (which is a positive!) I think it would be nice to hear more insights from you on the current state of GSD and what you've done to try & make these changes as a Captain, and how CoS would better equip you to make those changes.

I also appreciate some of the answers to why you believe you're suitable, and I like that both you and @Solus_16 held Jr. CL4 in MLT & RSD as it means that both of you should have some good perspectives you can apply to the task as CoS. I would have liked to see more discussion about your contributions as a leader in GSD and how those contributions & experiences would make you suitable for CoS.

I can't comment too much on what I've seen of you - besides tear gassing the entirety of D-Block - so I'm stuck (again) reviewing what's been logged. You've logged 10 tryouts & have logged four Sergeant interviews. These are great contributions for a Captain, but I'd love to see more instances of you taking initiative, starting/spearheading operations or otherwise making an effort to improve GSD beyond just what is asked of you.

I would also love to see a bit more effort & thought put into your character. You have a great idea going with the very contrasting clergyman security officer, but as Sr. CL4 there should be some more careful consideration made to how your character (and their RP) will influence GSD and the site's RP.

I'll offer the same questions to you as I did Solus, if you don't mind:

1) In your opinion, what are some of the best parts of GSD currently? What are some of the worst? How yould you - as CoS - sustain the best parts & change the worst?

2) What kind of operations & RP would you want to spearhead as CoS?

3) Have you spent any time with US GSD, and if so do you have any insight on how they do things versus how we do things?

+/- Support While I'd love to offer my support to every Captain who's putting themselves out there for CoS, as you all deserve a shot, there can only really be one at the end of the day & I want to try to support whoever I believe will make the best impact as CoS.

Here is my month's time, please note its quite lower than usual as i took a LOA recently of slightly over a week

1) In your opinion, what are some of the best parts of GSD currently? What are some of the worst? How yould you - as CoS - sustain the best parts & change the worst?

The best part of GSD for me is the interactions that Gensec players can have both within the department due to its numbers, as well as the many times we cooperate with other departments due to GSD's central nature within the foundation, as we usually get to see many more aspects of the site such as testing, security matters, assisting other departments with codes and such, allowing us to have a wider range of activities available to us.

One of the more major issues i have with GSD however is the fact that the entire department seems to sometimes vary in terms of consistency and overall quality depending on who is currently on-site, as i have observed situations where i had to force people to return to Dblock or stop them from storming ISD wing because one of their friends got arrested. These issues can be solved by enforcing the base expectations rather than focusing on the Sergeant or Captain that is on duty at that time, aiming to find a balance where people can still have fun within the rules and behaving as a proper member of Gensec should.
Something like taking note of the general situation across a periods of time, or by relying on comments from some different CL4 around the site on their experience with gensec can help avoid a bias in identifying people causing problems so they can be re-trained or punished accordingly.

As for keeping the good parts of the department, i would hate for the increase in enforcement to come at the cost of what makes Gensec enjoyable, so i would push for an increase in trainings as the few that i have participated / led have been quite fun from both perspectives.

2) What kind of operations & RP would you want to spearhead as CoS?

In terms of operations, i'd love to increase trainings as mentioned previously and give some sort of incentive to the captains hosting these, such as a reward given during the weekly meetings or similar incentives to make sure that these trainings have a higher chance of happening, as well as cooperating with other departments to take part in these trainings too.
Another main point i would like to look at is the concept of GSD patrols, as recently it has become quite rare for me to see a SGT or other members of Gensec take a couple members around for a patrol of site, obviously this is better for site security as a whole rather than having people loitering around when they feel like taking a break, and can lead to more RP interactions with other members of site staff such as E11 when taking a look around HCZ and LLCZ.

On the RP side, i would love to take this opportunity to bring my character forward since i feel like it has always been a background detail as mentioned in my application. Even though bringing religion into Gmod RP is quite hard since not everyone cares about such matters, i wish to at least bring the universal aspects such as morality into my departmental relationships. Or simply dealing with incidents from this perspective.

3) Have you spent any time with US GSD, and if so do you have any insight on how they do things versus how we do things?

I may not have played on the US server, but I've certainly spoken with a fair share of players from there who work in different areas while they're playing in the UK site, and I've had a couple interesting discussions with them about the way things work on each side of the Atlantic. I would definitely be interested in looking into this if I ended up with CoS, rather than just listening to what others tell me, because there may well be something that they do that we can learn from.
