The following is my application for the position of Chief of Security, in the light of it's current vacancy. My application will be structured off of answering the 3 following questions; why am I applying, what makes me suitable, and what are the duties expected of a Security Chief? > Why am I applying for Chief of Security? I am applying for the position of Security Chief because after serving as a Captain for 3 months now, I have ambitions to progress even further up the Chain of Command because I believe I am capable of doing so and can make positive changes to the department. For most of my time as Captain, I have taken a more document-focused approach and have created quite a few in-game documents for different purposes. I would like to say that I am experienced enough at working with in-game and external documents for the position of Security Chief. My most notable of yet likely being the '[GSD] GOI Regulations' document, created with the purpose of informing more GENSEC players, more-so new players, with basic information on GOIs like the GOC and MC&D, so that they can be easily identified and properly interacted with, containing information of when they are authorised to be on-site and what procedures they must follow while on-site. Apart from document work, I have ambitions for Security Chief because I would like to implement and change things in order to benefit the department. I would like to implement more projects, whether created by myself or suggested by Captains, in order to give GENSEC more roleplay opportunities and things to do around the site. Ideally, cross-departmental projects, which can benefit more players than just GENSEC. An example of a project which I have suggested is one wherein free-roam SCPs, mainly 999 & 2295, are interacted with by D-Class to positively affect their mental wellbeing and monitor the psychological effect in role play. This project aimed at providing more role play opportunities for GSD/D-Class/SCPs, along with Medical and Research Staff if involved. I would like to be able to provide more roleplay opportunities for GENSEC as a whole, a skill I will have to work on since I have not held a Senior CL4 / RP Leader role before. I would like to work towards making GENSEC a bigger presence around other areas of the site, most notably the LCZ/PW/Medbay area, to further enforce their role as the Site's Security, whether this means having more frequent patrols, new Points of Interests, or the establishment of checkpoints. D-Block is a primary station point due to the core gameplay and roleplay loop wherein GENSEC escort testing, but I believe additional GENSEC should be stationed around other parts of the site where possible. Lastly, I would like to work on the organisation of the department as a whole. I aim to make all current documents easily accessible and up to date, making knowledge of procedures and policies more accessible, enforcing more activity of Leadership, and reviewing the effectiveness of the current license tryouts and policies/procedures in place. > What makes me suitable for the position? - I'm suitable for Security Chief because of my skill set and GENSEC experience. Like many others, the majority of my time on the server has been inside of a GENSEC position. Since I started playing again consistently, the start of April, I have been focusing mainly on GENSEC the entire time. I went from Officer, to Sergeant, to Captain, and now possibly Chief of Security. I am most suited and experienced within GENSEC out of every department and regiment on the server, and I believe I have the required knowledge to now be the Department Chief and play in a more administrative position. - I am capable of building and managing inter-departmental relations, as my time on Captain I have tried to improve and work on these relations wherever I got the opportunity, to the full extent that I could while being a Junior CL4. - I have had a good tenure as Captain, with no warnings on my record, I've managed to sustain an active presence, and have received mainly praise on my performance so far. - I have the right attitude and patience that the role requires, it's important to understand that GENSEC is the first available combative department to new players, and often the first department entirely for most. I have the ability to appropriately respond to the reports I will inevitably receive. - As stated previously, I would say that I have a certain proficiency with the creation and management of documents, and I am certain that I can work effectively with my partnering Chief to manage our Captains, Sergeants and the general department as a whole, ensuring good health. For all of the duties listed in the next section, I believe I am capable of fulfilling them. Overall, I am confident in my ability to manage and create departmental documents, gather feedback from staff, implement new policies, procedures and projects to the department, manage inter-departmental relations, work with my partnering chief, manage my subordinates, process new leadership, review current policies/procedures, and do the job of a Security Chief. > What are the duties of a Security Chief? The duties of a Security Chief consist off, but are not limited to: - Engaging with the entire department. - Ensuring good department health. - Ensuring good departmental morale. Documents, Policies, Procedures & Projects - Maintenance of departmental documentation & rosters. - Creation of new documentation where necessary. - Reviewing & managing current policies and procedures. - Creation of new policies and procedures. - Implementing new projects / operations. - Managing and reviewing current projects / operations. - Planning with Site Administration / Foundation Command where necessary. Processing New Leadership - Approving individuals for the position of Sergeant. - Reviewing Captain applications & conducting Captain interviews. Managing Leadership - Enforcing activity, presence and behaviour requirements of GENSEC Leadership. - Rewarding / Reprimanding Leadership where necessary. - Guiding & giving advice on all leadership aspects to GENSEC Leadership. - Ensuring Leadership are up-to-date and informed. - Ensuring Leadership are guiding subordinates and upholding performance standards. Feedback - Holding weekly meetings for Leadership. - Discussing all actions with the partnering Chief. - Meeting with Site Administration for feedback and department progress. - Discuss & make improvements based on feedback by Site Administration. - Acting on feedback provided. Departmental Relations - Maintaining inter-departmental relations. - Meeting and planning with other departmental heads. - Discussing incidents / concerns with departmental heads. - Acting as a representative of the department. Roleplay - Creating new roleplay opportunities for the department. - Creating roleplay around the site including those outside the department. - Utilising RP Leader permissions appropriately. - Ensuring the core roleplay loop is running.
