Why are you applying for Security Captain?
I’ve been taking a break from the server to clear my head a tad after being in Alpha-1 for nearly over a year (if both periods were combined). To get back into the rhythm, I started by playing as two characters to see which department fits me more: Research or Security. Although I’ve had my roots within the research department when I began playing on this server, I feel with time I’ve grown more and more into a combative position and wish to plant my feet thoroughly somewhere where the stakes are not as high as with A-1. For me personally, I feel that GENSEC is the perfect place to do so. No overbearing ISD wars or the fear of having your boss kidnapped as well as being able to teach new personnel the ropes, which I thoroughly enjoy. Another reason that I wish to apply is because of the experiences I've had with a personal friend, who used to be a GENSEC captain up until recently. From his point of view, it was always a blast maintaining D-Block and I really enjoyed the time I spent with the GENSEC leadership team recently. As such, I wish to become more involved in the department and want to take up a more involved role than just being a GENSEC officer. To pad off my reasoning, I feel as a GENSEC officer you don’t get heard as much as when you are a captain. I wish to be a voice that is heard and listened to as I feel I am able to make the right calls to ensure an efficient and Safe Site-65.
What makes you suitable for Security Captain?:
I posses the following traits, which I believe make me a strong candidate for this role:

What makes you suitable for Security Captain?:
I posses the following traits, which I believe make me a strong candidate for this role:
- Reliable activity. Active nearly dailey for an average of three hours.
- Patient and calm, even when things escalate.
- Assertive demeanor, willing and able to instruct subordinates and give them constructive feedback on their performance.
- Well experienced in handling combative situations. Knows and understand proper formations and breaching techniques.
- Helpful and wishing for others to succeed.
- Good in communication. Keeps you in the loop of what is going on.
- Overwatching both D-Block and Light Containment Zone. A captain is responsible for ensuring that D-Block is sufficiently staffed before any tests are carried out. With that also comes ensuring that Patrol units are tied up into patrol teams and watching over activities inside of Light Containment zone. Having GENSEC on active patrol highlights activities and potential threats inside of the patrolled zone aswell as faster response time.
- Providing guidance to new recruits. These individuals are left in the dark without proper guidance. I would like to flashback to my time as a GENSEC cadet. During this time I had little to no guidance other than people yelling at me whenever I did something that was against "Standard Protocol". It is a captain's duty to provide suffient information to cadets and guide them together with the more experienced of the branch to get them up to speed with the rest.
- Hosting Security Response Unit (RRT) and Heavy Weapons Tryouts.
- Calling Code 2s and organizing sweeps. It is inevitable that at some point D-Block comes an unrecoverable mess without proper intervention. A code 2 sweep allows captains the resources and personnel to tackle difficult situations such as these. A captain is responsible for assigning the proper personnel to their proper tasks during a sweep and ensuring that these tasks are carried out by them. They are to have a calm but assertive demeanor to rally their comrades into this sweep and to diffuse any threat withing the cells.
- Work assignments for D-Class. As with the now (not so) new D-Class work program, a captain is responsible for handling work requests from cooperative D-Class personnel. They are to provide the proper paperwork and instructions to the volunteering D-Class and lay out the terms of service. Although not always required, they should periodically check up on these D-Class to get an insight on their progress and potentially recommend them for further work assignments if they perform particularly well.
BEGIN LOG *CLICK* *The feed switches to a dimly lit room with a large, metal table at the centre of it. The walls are padded in metal tiles and the lights give off an eerily white color. Two individuals are seated at a table with a guard standing beside one of the two. The person with the guard beside him is wearing a bag over his head and has his hands tied behind his back. The man is wearing a Multicam pattern that is reminiscent of the pattern worn by the US Military. The badge on his shoulder suggests otherwise, as it contains waves of different colours and a shark in the foreground. There is also a name badge on his other shoulder reading “Sergeant Mellow” The man opposite him is dressed sharply wearing a black two-piece suit with a white undershirt and a red tie. He motions for the guard to take the bag off his head.* The Interviewer: Good Evening Mr. Mellow, or should I call you “Sergeant”? I trust your unexpected journey to our compound wasn’t too bothersome. Mellow: [Narrowing his eyes and tensing his jaw] You can drop the pleasantries. I've been through enough "unexpected journeys" for one lifetime. What do you people want from me? If it is money or information, I’m afraid you’ll be disappointed. The Interviewer: [Ignoring Mellow's hostility, he places a briefcase on the table with a resounding thud and pops it open, revealing a stack of documents] Mr. Mellow, I can assure you, we're not interested in money or information regarding your occupation. What we want is the unique set of skills you possess. You see- Mellow: You kidnapped me, strapped me into some shady interrogation room, and now you're talking about "unique skills"? If you folks have recruitment guidelines, you REALLY need to work on them. In case you didn’t notice before abruptly dragging me off my worksite, I’m already employed! The Interviewer: We’re well aware of your previous employment. In fact, it’s this very background that piqued our interest. As I previously wanted to say, we’ve seen you in action and even witnessed you managing to make it out alive of a rather troubling security breach. I do not wish to indulge you with details regarding this as you’ve had enough paperwork on it as it already stands. Although, there is a specific paper I wish for you to read. [The Interviewer slides a document over to Mellow's side of the table. The document first and foremost contains the three letters “SCP” on the header. Further down, the body contains fields requesting the interviewee’s name, Date of Birth and a Scala of empty checkmark boxes regarding the interviewee’s background. The Interviewer nods to the Security Guard who unholsters a small knife, flipping it open with a motion of his hand. As the interviewer slides a pen over to Mellow and the guard cuts open the ropes, Mellow suddenly jumps out of his chair.] Mellow: You think showing me some fancy contract is going to make me forget about being kidnapped? I'm not signing a damn thing! Forget it! The Interviewer: Mr. Mellow, please. You're walking away from the opportunity of a lifetime. We believe you could be a valuable asset to us, and we're offering you a chance to leave your past behind! After all, we can’t have you leaving now. The channels you are on are already going haywire. If they found you now, they would most definitely want to ask you questions about your sudden disappearance, which we can’t have. [The Security Guard, who had been silently watching, steps forward and levels his gun at Mellow, who slowly raises his hands in response.] The Interviewer: Here are the options laid out for you, The smart one: you sit back down and fill in the contract or the stupid one: You walk away and we turn the M in MIA into a K. The choice is yours. Mellow: You really don't give me a choice now, do you? [Mellow gradually lowers his hands as he sits back down in the chair. The guard behind him lowers his weapon and takes a step back into the shadows of the room.] The Interviewer: Thank you. Now Mr. Mellow, take your time to review the contract. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. We'll be right here. [Mellow begins filling out the questions on the paper as he sometimes gives the interviewer a glare] Mellow: Who are you people even? The Interviewer: [Smirks] We figured you wanted to know that. My apologies for not addressing it sooner. The introduction to the interview, as you witnessed first-hand, was rather abrupt. We are part of the SCP Foundation, an organisation dedicated to securing, containing, and protecting the world from anomalies. I can assure you that your bosses have surely read up on us. Mellow: [chuckling] What? Do you believe in aliens? The Interviewer: [Returning a chuckle] Oh, we believe in much more than just aliens. But that's a discussion for another time. Your duties won’t be too involved with them. You’re familiar with holding prisoners, aren't you? Mellow: Holding prisoners, sure. But something tells me you folks handle it a bit differently. What's the catch? The Interviewer: I'm glad you asked. Your job will require you to maintain and secure Class D Personnel. Think of them as Death Row inmates who have been given a chance for redemption, or at least a temporary stay from their sentences. They assist us in various experiments and tasks, and your role will be to ensure their containment and compliance with our protocols. Mellow: Are there any risks involved? The Interviewer: [Nods] There are always risks in our line of work. It’s part of it. While we take every precaution to ensure safety, the nature of anomalies and Class D Personnel can lead to… unexpected situations. If you accept this offer, we will naturally provide you with the necessary training and seminars to handle any concerns that may arise. The Interviewer: [Pauses for a moment] Family visits can be a bit complicated in our line of work, Mr. Mellow. Operational Security is paramount, and our protocols are quite stringent. They do bear a resemblance to your previous work, with a few minute differences. Expect time off to be less frequent than you are used to. One thing that we believe you will find to be a welcome change is that you are allowed to leave the Site for a short period of time to visit your loved ones, provided you sign the NDA in your contract. There are some nuances, but you will be informed of them when we get to them. Mellow: [Nods, understanding the gravity of the situation] I see. I'll have to discuss this with them, then. The Interviewer: Absolutely not. Your family will be kept entirely in the dark about your true occupation. They will be under the impression that you work for the US Army offshore, and that cover story will be part of your new identity. You will be instructed on your cover-up story down the line. Mellow: Right… [The tape spools up to speed as Mellow fills out the rest of the questions] Mellow: Done. [He slides both the pen and the contract towards The Interviewer who places both inside of his briefcase. He gives another nod to the guard who once more steps out of the shadows and places a bag over Mellow’s head whilst he frantically tries to pull it off.] The Interviewer: Thank you for your time, Mr. Mellow. As outlined in Contract section 12.8, you will be amnesticated using Class E amnestics. This is in compliance with our Secrecy protocols and to ensure that our dealings remain strictly confidential. [Mellow gets placed into restraints and is escorted out of the room by his guard. The Interviewer follows in behind the both of them, but not before waiting by the door and looking straight into the camera.] The Interviewer: He’ll do nicely. *CLICK* END LOG |
