Why are you applying for Director of Research ?

I am applying for several reasons. The first, and most obvious, is my deep love for the Research Department. Regardless of the server or community, I have always preferred playing a researcher over any other role. With John's recent resignation, I believe it is time for me to channel my passion for scientific roleplay into a leadership position. Given my past experience, I believe I can bring numerous elements that would greatly benefit how the Research Department operates and is perceived by the rest of the server.
What makes you suitable for Director of Research ?
Experience

My primary asset is my experience. While I may not be the oldest serving Executive Researcher, and my four months on the server might not yet make me a pillar of the community, I previously served as the Vice-Director of a Research Department for many months in another large community (the same one where I was Head Gamemaster). Because of this, I am already accustomed to implementing departmental reforms entirely within RP, organizing meetings, and diplomatically managing both the internal and external affairs of a department. To better illustrate this experience, I would add that I was responsible in practice for the revival of ANOREP, which was a great success with numerous documents being written, an applied methodology, and three officially recruited members. There is also the LORE sub-division, which, although it has not yet shown its final results, is a well-structured entity full of potential.

Roleplay

Another argument for my suitability is my dedication to Roleplay and, by extension, the deep lore knowledge I utilize in general. I always prefer a strictly in-character approach in most scenarios to provide the best, most immersive environment possible. Having been both a Gamemaster and a scientist for a long time, I am accustomed to maximizing the synergy between these two positions. I will use this dual capability to the Department's advantage to achieve the following:
  • Establishing diplomatic and collaborative contact between the Research Department and other branches outside the Site (such as the differents initiatives I have already started with the USA Site-65).
  • Integrating the Research Department into expansive lore-based projects.
  • Connecting the Research Department with brand-new, original initiatives!
Perspective

Finally, I believe I have a great deal of perspective. In over ten years of playing SCP RP, I have seen a lot. While I am highly passionate, I am neither blinded nor overly idealistic. I have witnessed reforms, the absolute best of RP, the worst of it, the dramas, the management styles, the good choices, the bad choices, and their long-term consequences. I know how to recognize what is good and bad for the health of a department, based on the players who compose it. While being a Director is ultimately a team effort alongside Site Administration and the other CL4s of the department, knowing how to genuinely take care of an entire faction is paramount.

What are the responsibilities of the Director of Research in RP ?

The responsibilities of a Director of Research take multiple forms in my opinion

Research Policy
The first, and most important to me, is setting a true direction for our research (in alignment with Site Administration's goals). This means establishing clear objectives, highlighting specific projects, and making research feel integral to the facility (which doesn't need to be limited solely to practical experimentation).

External Management

Another crucial responsibility is acting as the bridge for the department, maintaining active and diplomatic contact with the other Departments. This includes, in addition to the already extensive Executive missions : listening to Site Administration's suggestions, adapting to various new Site policies, and, if necessary, conveying the department's feedback regarding these decisions or any other aspect of the site.

Internal Management

Another aspect of it is managing the department internally, particularly the CL4 positions. Maintaining player activity, engagement, and fulfillment is a core duty. This also involves constantly re-evaluating our own systems to optimize and improve the overall gameplay loop and RP quality of the department. This would also involve how Junior researchers are introduced to the department and how our members can go from CL3 to CL4 positions without it being too great a change (as it is now). Making sure that our CL4 players are involved in satisfying missions is important, as the middle management in RSD is a core principle. Without active Executive, the department would lose a lot.

Please give some lore about your Director of Research character and what storylines they would be involved in

+Support Oleg might actually be one of the most knowledgable people ive ever met on the server, his lore knowledge is next level and the RP he creates surrounding this is amazing. It has been a pleasure working with Oleg in the executive team and seeing how much work he does. I know he would be a good DoR.

+support for this french legend.

This person is undoubtedly the most knowledgeable person I have met in my 10 Years of being interested in SCP.
RSD would be blessed having him as DoR.
