Small note - I was already in discussion with SSL to step down to SD but was told to apply after they had a think over it, which is why this is here.
Probably the question that people are wondering about this is: Why Site Director and not try go for ECC?
The reason for this is pretty simple really. I have no interest in progressing to ECC, which you probably could've assumed, and would have more plans as SD than I would as ECC.
Why Site Director?
While I do love those within Ethics and O-1, and couldn't have asked for anyone else to spend my time with on the server, I feel that Site Administration is in need of a hands on individual to get them back on track. The new batch of Site Advisors that are expected to join the ranks need someone to help them our and bring Site Administration back to a better position. What I hope to achieve is to get Site Administration back on its feet to benefit the Site to its fullest degree, and ensure that Site Admin can keep the site together while it regrows.
There are some initial plans that I have that have been sent to SSL before making this application, which I will also add here for your consideration:
- Mentoring for the new SA: Those that are coming into SA need someone to teach them and mentor them to ensure that they perform to the best of their ability and understand the position they're going into. From previous experience as a Site Manager and understanding of Site Admin I wish to help the up and coming SA’s prosper and learn from someone who has the higher level experience. I want to ensure that they know what they’re meant to be getting involved with and helping them to engage with the site in an active capacity. I want to ensure that those coming into SA aren’t just thrust into the position, but have time to settle in and learn what they need to do. They should also understand that they shouldn't spend every hour of the day on the position, and play at their own pace
- Back on Track: There seems to have been a larger issue going around where departments have started moving away from their core duties. While these don’t seem all too bad, it does mean that there are less and less people focusing on the main duties of the department/MTF. What would be reviewed is all the current policies and duties that the departments and MTF’s are following and trying to pinpoint anything that may lead to a strain on duty. This should also be done in conjunction with SC on discussion with SA to discuss their own departments they overlook (RsD and ISD) for anything they wish to comment on, as well as the departments/MTF's as a whole if they have anything they wish to comment on.
- Department Reviews: The current system of SA Liaisons for departments is (In my opinion) ineffective. It shows no engagement with the given department and offers little feedback to the department to help them grow for the next month. I wish to overhaul this to make sure that department reviews actually provide feedback to the departments and help them get over those issues. Department reviews should be universally based on: How well the Department performs its duties, their co-operation with other departments (Including SA and SC) and the communication/structure within the department itself. There should also be a couple of specific focus points per department such as for GSD on how well D-Block is handled, or for Nu-7 how many raids have been successfully defended against/time between raids, or for Research how many tests/crosstests/etc have been performed. Departments should not all be treated as universal equals, as they all have their own strengths that they should be measured against.
- Department Reviews - Engagement: SA should be engaging with the department, helping them to perform the best that they can, giving them something to work on for the month that can show off any strengths or flaws that they can then work with the department to iron out and work on. I would also want SA to get involved with their department and their duties around the site, such as watching and getting involved in research, observing trainings by E-11/Nu-7, going over to interrogation to observe ISD and their arrests, and being there for DEA negotiations and interrogations. SA needs to understand how the department functions to then help them develop and get better.
- Site Engagement: Department reviews should be considered first, in my eyes, however SA should also work on things to involve the whole site. A good example of this would be Penny who tried to get the site involved with fun and engaging activities for a prize. Can be small or large but it should be something that can help keep up engagement and morale within the people on-site. As the main representatives of the site, they should be public and approachable, ensuring that the site stays stable. Helping to assist with co-operation between departments should also be a main focus, giving departments projects and operations together to work on and help with relations and co-operation.
Other plans will obviously come about if they arise, but goin gin this is what I have planned. My main process would be to get Site Administration back to a respectable level, while helping the site in the process. Once Site Admin is sorted, then the bulk of the work can be put out to the rest of the site.
What makes you suitable for Site Director over Site Advisor?:
The starting point for all of my applications, my experience on the server. Its no secret I have been in my fair share of positions within the server, most notably within Site Administration and Foundation Command twice. I've spent a lot of time engaging in and helping roleplay within the server, and hope to continue doing so if I am to be accepted. On top of this, and more specifically, roles such as Site Manager, Ethics Assistant and Ethics Member have provided me with a great deal of administrative experience, where these roles flourish most. Although it can be said that all the roles I have achieved here have had an administrative aspect to them. Holding and organizing meetings, helping to settle disputes and attempt to rebuild relations, from small interactions to larger ones, I've gone through it all.
More specifically, my experience as a Site Manager has provided me with that useful knowledge and understanding of how to handle Site Administration.
I have spent a lot of time learning and developing over my time on the server, understanding how areas function, the sort of things they need to develop and grow and want to be able to teach those new people how best to integrate themselves and learn most effectively how they want to play.
While the position of Site Advisor is very fitting for me, I believe that given my extensive experience and time on the server, as well as a previous attempt at Director that was almost successful, I believe I am more suited for Site Director and with this position it would help me to further my plans and get them in motion. Though with this I also come with a sense of understanding. Changes to Site Administration should not come about sporadically, and if required should be done with consultation from the rest of Site Administration. I am also of the understanding that SA should have freedom to express their own interests for the Administrative body, and I want to be approachable and responsive to any issues/suggestions/ideas that anyone may have I want to work with them on it and develop it if its valid.
What are the responsibilities of Site Administration in RP?:
Site Administration have many responsibilities, such as:
Reassignments
- Manage Reassignment requests for Site Advisor
- Manage Reassignment requests for Directors of Medicine, External Affairs, and Chiefs of Security
- Manage Reassignment requests for Commanders of Epsilon-11 and Nu-7
- The above is done with the input from the rest of Site Administration
- Decide on the promotion of Site Advisors to Site Manager, along with other Site Managers if applicable
