Why are you applying for Executive Researcher?
I have been a senior researcher for a long time, since July of 2022. For most of my time online, there are never any Executive Researchers+ on as I play early/mid day usually (I play at night too, but usually another role besides researcher). That has always frustrated me, as it makes it very difficult to do higher level tests. Therefore, I wish to fill that gap myself and provide more closely a "24/7" activity for Executive Researchers as I'm sure there are others like myself who usually play at times where there are none on. As well as this, I have been playing for a very long time and simply seek something greater and to begin mentoring other lower ranking researchers as I kind of already do this now.
What makes you suitable for Executive Researcher?:
As mentioned in the previous section, I am usually active at a time when there are no Executive Researchers+ on so me filling that gap would be great for the department. It helps ensure that every researcher, no matter what time of day, can get the help they need as well as approvals or direction for any tests. I also have a great deal of experience, having played for over 9 months now--primarily on researcher. I also have very good critical thinking skills which is absolutely necessary for anyone pursuing a leadership position in the ever changing SCP environment. The combination of these factors makes for an extremely effective Executive Researcher--one that can be a great mentor, one that can be a great leader.
How many excellent-graded documents have you written? What makes a document excellent?
I am 2/2 on excellent-graded documents. The first of which is a statistical analysis of the O- blood type, which used real mathematics and experimental procedures to create a confidence interval for the true proportion of personnel carrying the ever lucrative O- blood. This is crucial to the Foundation's chemists and overall success as it is vital in the synthesization of chemicals that Foundation combatives use to get an edge over any potential threats to the Foundation. The other document I have written is about my discovery of SCP-294s "SCP-682 Killer" drink, and the effects it has on SCP-682. This test again is absolutely pivotal to the Foundation, as one of the top priorities of our Foundation is putting an end to SCP-682. The liquid was effective at destroying parts of SCP-682, but a lot will need to be created in order to fully kill the reptile. This is an ongoing effort by my team.
For a document to be excellent by my standards it must meet a range of criteria. First of all, a professional layout is required. I personally break my documents into seven sections as follows: Index, Information, Goal of Study, Hypothesis, Methodology, Findings and Conclusion. To me, this is as simplistic as it can get while still being an excellent document as without any one of those core sections you can lose vital information. Secondarily, I prioritize grammar and spelling and general writing standards. It is important for our documents to be professional, descriptive and efficient as the reproduction of some of these tests is vital to our scientific method. To piggyback off of this point, the last main requirement of an excellent document is being descriptive. There shouldn't be large sections of a page left blank, you need to be descriptive so that all the information someone may need can be extracted and if another researcher goes to repeat the test they can do so and compare their results with yours exactly. Even the most minute of differences in the results of a test can be pivotal to our scientific processes. They shouldn't be overly wordy, but should instill as much detail as efficiently as possible.
What are the responsibilities of the Executive Researcher in RP?:
The Executive Researcher has a number of responsibilities targeting the development of the Research Department. Primarily, they exist to inform and teach lower level researchers about everything the department concerns itself with. They are the gold standard of how a researcher should act so in general they need to possess professional and informative aspects to set a good example. They grade documents, and keep research personnel safe during any codes. They should be available to answer any questions lower ranking researchers may have and to assist them with their tests.
In general, research can provide some of the most engaging gameplay for security, researchers, and D-Class. For D-Class especially this is important, as these are often new players to the server who are otherwise forced to sit in jail and pick up scraps. We give them a great opportunity to introduce them to fun and engaging roleplay with SCPs, which is what they joined for in the first place. In short, the Research Department and therefore Executive Researchers are essential to the growth of the server.
Please give some lore about your Executive Researcher character and what storylines they would be involved in:
Dr. Antonio de Luca is a middle-aged, Italian-American scientist from the Emilia-Romagna region of Italy. He immigrated to the United States when he was 18 to attend the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, Massachusetts where he earned both an undergraduate degree and obtained his PhD. He was hired by the Foundation seven years ago as a researcher where he has worked his way up over time to a Senior Researcher. He is currently pursuing the position of Executive Researcher, hoping to one day proceed even higher in the department. When he eventually moves on from the Foundation, he plans to return to MIT as a Professor.
Always fascinated behind physics and math, he has always been in search of answers to the why of everything. Throughout his educational career, he was starting to run out of questions. The Foundation gave him plenty of unknowns to study, which he has pounced upon. In a world now filled with urban legends like 076 and 073, Antonio has had to use every last ounce of his experience to try and ground this new world to the scientific reality the Earth has always known.
