What O5 role are you applying for, and why (give the specific O5 number):

I am applying for O5-4, under the name 'The Utilitarian'. The reasons I am applying for this role are numerous, but the general sentiment is that I wish to improve the site, as I have been doing in my current role as Site Advisor. The reason i would like to make the move up to O5 is to widen the purview that I would be able to improve, something in which is slightly restricted by the limitations of my place in Site Administration.

If accepted to O5, I would take a large stance on roleplay creation through management. It has been my ethos since becoming an Executive that roleplay is best perpetuated through the site, by allowing an environment which is stable and welcoming to roleplay. This will be done via the review of policy, procedure and rules in every department, and ensuring leadership teams are properly staffed with individuals which are extremely talented in both roleplay themselves, and management, which will allow more roleplay by proxy.

Furthermore, while I am not a member of A-1, nor have I been a member of A1, a fair time ago I was a member of O1. I wish to directly help A1 develop as a member of O5, something which my current purview of Site Advisor would not allow me to properly consider or oversee. Much of the reason I am applying for O5 is due to my interactions with members of A1, many of whom are great friends of mine, and I wish to help bring their regiment to the peak of it's existence, through careful management and on-going roleplay creation.

Finally, I understand Foundation Command is a heavily roleplay based environment, and I believe through acceptance to the council I would be able to not only provide amazing roleplay on a personal level, but as previously mentioned create much roleplay as a roleplay leader, through management of departments and the site in an improved manner.

What makes you the best candidate for the O5 Council?:

I truly believe that I am the best candidate for O5 for a number of reasons. Much of them relate to competency and experience, which I believe is to a degree which exceeds expectations for O5.

When applying for Site Administration I made the particular point of my range of experience, I still maintain that even with my gained senior CL4 experience (Site Advisor), I believe my breadth of experience is particularly well suited to the responsibilities of the O5 Council. I have been in all core departments (bar GENSEC) as a CL4, I have been in both GOIs, with one as a Snr. CL4. Furthermore, I have been in one side of A/O as a Snr. CL4 and I've experienced what FCOM is expected to do by proxy of being an Ethics Committee Assistant. Through this extensive and lengthy experience, along with my high level of management experience in my role of Site Advisor, which I have been in for the longest of any current Advisors, I believe I am truly ready for FCOM. Throughout this experience I have taken a great number of steps to do more than simply occupy the role.

I'll attempt to work backwards regarding this point, but I may miss some portions of my previous experience within the site and server. Within Site Administration as an Advisor I have consistently maintained the high standards expected in the work of an Advisor, along with this I believe I have gone above and beyond by consistently advocating for change, rather than simply flying "below the radar", something which is often detrimental to Site Administration. Within my second day as Advisor I had already drafted a change to the tribunal system, which still remains in the current iterations. When change needed to be made, I was often the first and hardest worker to making the change actionable and effective. When asked by staff to add a way to acknowledge when documents and audits were made/taken, I immediately took the initiative to create a template using in-game documents to allow this to happen. This may seem like mediocre work, but I believe it displays the initiative I am willing to take independently and when agreed on within Site Administration. Most recently I have proposed a change in the way in which Site Administration is structured, which those judging this application will be able to see in the Site Administration threads, this is still pending but this displays the type of change I am wanting to make within the site. Throughout my time as a Site Advisor I have actively engaged in all concerns and matters brought to us, and have always paid proper attention to those departments under my jurisdiction and any needing help. Furthermore, I have created a great deal of roleplay, particularly for the previously suffering SOP. I believe I was instrumental in the management and roleplay of the recent GOC war, which has undoubtedly created roleplay prior, during and after it's existence, along with daily roleplay and management I have truly been a roleplay creator and leader.

During my time as O-1 and CI I have always looked to improve anything my purview covered, within O1 I established an internal affairs office position and guidelines regarding them, which I believe still exist in some form, which displays the impact the change I have made on the site has caused. Within CI I established a sub-division which was incredibly successful, and highly regarded. While this is not the usual type of management I would deal with as an O5, I believe this displays my high level of competency in managing MTFs and divisions under purview, which would be apart of my duties as an O5.

I would list more, but I believe needing to deeply explain changes you have made, means they weren't particularly impactful, as such I'll keep this next section short and sharp. I truly believe I am one of the most accessible and highly regarded members of the Site, at least during periods in which I actually play (time zones). When I am on site, I make the best effort always to help people, allow them to roleplay and to enjoy themselves. I find myself incredibly approachable and despite the duties of an O5 sometimes not allowing this, as it is not a public facing organization, I will still strive to make myself accessible and helpful for all, hence choosing the name 'The Utilitarian'.

What are the responsibilities of the O5 Council in RP?:

The responsibilities of the council in roleplay is extensive, most notably the council is expected to ensure the foundation is being run incredibly well, and to a degree of unmatched performance. As referenced in Site Command guidelines, which is done via O5 themselves or departments under their purview such as Site Administration. As I have previously mentioned, I believe this fits me greatly as I seek to improve the quality and quantity of roleplay across the site through proper management, which can be guaranteed by the council's actions in roleplay.

The council obviously manages the Code of Conduct and the FLC in cooperation with the rest of SCOM, recently I have proposed change by adding a charge, and my former IA (now ISD) experience properly establishes my competency regarding this aspect of the role. While the council is secretive, the site inspector "front" they run are meant to be seen, and make active choices for the site. This includes the management of assistants, GOI relations and matters, paired with SCOM, A1, managing emergencies (including codes, ERT and nuking) and taking a key interest into the progression of the site through Site Administration and Research. Nearly all of these duties I have previously completed to a high level of success, therefore proving my competency for the responsibilities of the council in roleplay. Finally, the O5 Council is responsible to ensure progress is made in the site, adopting the ethos of being "results driven", something my character in roleplay directly believes in.

What are the responsibilities of the O5 Council out of RP (e.g. what applications do they handle?):

Much like my current role as Site Administration, a large portion and chunk of the work completed by the council is OOC, or out of roleplay. As I have extensively mentioned competency in this regarding in EXTREMELY important to create and allow an environment for roleplay to flourish. As a roleplay leader currently, and if accepted to the council one of the most important roleplay leaders, OOC work is incredibly important to allow roleplay.

Paired this with aspect, the O5 council decides a number of applications and positions. The Site Director, A1 commander and finally Assistant applications, integral portions of the site. I fully understand the O5 council is meant to quite literally oversee the site, and not directly become involved in departments unless required, something which I already practice as a member of Site Administration.

Please give some lore about your O5 character and what storylines they would be involved in:

roleplay doc

My character has a strong presence amongst the site, I believe if accepted much of my early storyline will be scrubbing my previous connections to the site, in particular to those I worked with heavily prior to becoming a member of O5. I still seek to become more involved in roleplay and that is something I will strive for within FCOM, but first and foremost I will seek to create roleplay for the rest of the server prior to individual storylines. I've been involved in a great deal of roleplay, and I'm proud to say every part of my larp document actually happened in game, rather than it being some great construction of a character.
