What makes you the best candidate for Ethics Committee Assistant?

I believe that I am suited for this position of assistant to the Ethics Committee based on my current experience, professionalism regarding foundation operations, and the fact that I have stayed true to the SCP guidelines and rules. As an active NU7 lieutenant, I am used to working in a high-pressure environment, adhering to specific guidelines, and calling shots on mission success with personal safety in mind. I've had a pretty good understanding of the SCP Foundation's guidelines, procedures, and its ethical bounds and acted fairly and without partial judgment. My leadership experiences showed me accountability, documentation, and clear communication skills during roleplay situations, which are crucial when assisting the Ethics Committee.

Also, I never take any sides, always listing all the reasons before drawing a conclusion, and try to maintain immersive and realistic roleplay at all times. I am fully ready to assist the members of the Ethics Committee to observe, report, and advise with utmost care for the moral standards of the Foundation without obstructing operations unnecessarily. Finally, my experience, maturity, and dedication to high-quality roleplay make me well-suited for the role of Ethics Committee assistant.

What are the roles of Ethics Committee Assistants in RP?

An Ethics Committee Assistant in RP supports the ethics committee by providing ethical oversight given within roleplay. Their role focuses on observing foundation operations, experiments, containment procedures, and disciplinary actions taken to ensure they are ethical, justified, and according to in-character foundation standards.

Ethics Committee Assistants document and report ethical concerns, such as unnecessary cruelty, abuse of authority, or disproportionate punishment, though through in-character channels and not by intervening directly. They do not override the decisions of command but rather serve in an advisory and reporting capacity. While it is primarily a reporting role, they do act on behalf of the committee when ordered to. They may support investigations related to ethics by gathering statements, reviewing reports, and attending hearings where authorized, while neutrality and professionalism are displayed with confidentiality at all times. Overall, the assistant to the ethics committee exists to reinforce immersion and quality of roleplay by reinforcing the existence of ethical oversight within the SAP foundation without interfering with gameplay or administrative matters.

Give some lore about your Ethics Committee Assistant character and what storylines they would be involved in:

Full name: Winston Alexander Barns
Age: 35
Affiliation: SCP Foundation
Present Assignment: Ethics Committee Assistant
Previous Assignment: Mobile Task Force NU7 "Hammer Down" LT
Clearance level: Confidential

Early Life:

Winston Barnes was born into a humble home that placed a strong emphasis on discipline, duty, and public service. His childhood bore the marks of strictness rather than luxury and formed him as a discreet and self-sufficient individual. Both of his parents died before his eventual recruitment into the SCP Foundation due to complications stemming from long-time illness (father) and another unrelated incident altogether. He was an only child, so by the time he reached adulthood, he was without immediate or extended family. The absence of such familial ties would later in his life normalize his commitment to institutional service-the Foundation is not simply his employer but all that remained of kinship and purpose.

Education and Development:

Winston followed higher education in political science and applied ethics, later on supplemented with advanced studies in crisis leadership and organizational decision-making. His academic focus was on how authority functions under extreme conditions, and how moral failures often seem to arise from unchecked urgency rather than malice. He had that kind of strong analytical bent of mind that favoured structured reasoning over emotional impulses-a trait that would follow him all his career.

A military background:

Before Recruitment by the Foundation, Winston was part of a more conventional military force in which the cool sign 'Duke' was given to him. During his early command years the name came not from his arrogance but from a calm demeanour and steady presence under fire. Winston was known to maintain control when an environment had descended into chaos - he would often serve as a calming influence in the midst of a high-risk operation. Over several deployments, Winston gained a reputation for decisive yet restrained leadership - mission success often took precedence over urgent and unnecessary loss of life. He developed a personal intolerance for reckless command decisions, especially those that regarded personnel as expendable resources.

SCP Foundation and NU7 service:

Winston was later recruited into the SCP Foundation and assigned to the Mobile Task Force NU7 "Hammer Down", a unit specialising in large-scale operations against enemy groups of interest such as the Global Occult Coalition or the Chaos Insurgency. Rising to the rank of lieutenant, Winston Duke Barnes oversaw unit deployments, coordinated combined armed responses, and managed personnel during anomalous containment crises. His operational reports were noted for their depth, and often included ethical considerations besides tactical assessments and unusual practices among frontline officers. Respected within NU7, Winston found itself increasingly questioning the long-term impact of certain containment methodologies, particularly those involving excessive force. These concerns were documented formally rather than voiced publicly, reflecting his adherence to protocol.

Transition to the ethics committee:

Eventually, Winston's reports drew the attention of the Ethics Committee, which recognized his rare combination of operational credibility and ethical awareness. He was offered reassignment, not as a policymaker himself but as an Ethics Committee Assistant charged to provide observational and analytical support. That position represented a significant turn in his role within the Foundation. The reassignment, to Winston, was not flight from duty but its continuance(mastering), that the actions of the Foundation be justified, sustainable, and internally consistent.

Personality:

Winston is quiet, composed, and methodical. He speaks with precision, avoiding emotional language in favour of documented facts and structured analysis. He is not cold but distant; he has no living family or personal attachments outside of the Foundation. His loyalty is institutional, not personal. He respects authority but does not blindly follow it; he holds the belief that it must be answerable in order to survive in the long run.

Medical Assessment – Winston A. Barns

Name: Winston A. Barns
Age: 35
Position: Ethics Committee Assistant
Former Role: MTF NU7 LT

The subject is in good general physical health, consistent with previous MTF service. Relevant medical history includes traumatic amputation of the right arm due to a chainsaw-related chaos insurgency incident. The limb was successfully regrown using controlled SCP-682 biological samples (also referred to as "immortal flesh") under the guidance of the Foundation. The regrown limb is fully functional, with no current indications of instability or anomalous activity. Psychological evaluation: emotional restraint, highly stress-resistant, and stable cognitive performance. Shows good emotional dissociation, consistent with the exposure to long combat periods. No impairment observed. No living family on record. Status: Medically and psychologically fit for duty. Note: Long-term follow-up of the regenerated limb is advised.

I support this lad greatly. I knew him when he was a Tech Expert and he's quite a nice, active, and friendly person to be around. He fully deserves this role after all the hard work he's put in in the server.
