If you're fine with the server performing worse while CN pays more for hosting (or risks relying on less tested hardware), than it's an option. The host we use speeds up certain parts of the server, hence why almost every big server network in the world uses it.
That being said, there are some instances where the server host fails and we go offline (lots of the UK + TS downtime is due to this afaik), but it's overall much more stable than other hosts in term of raw gameserver performance.
Much of the reason the server lags is because we rely heavily on code written ages ago, weather it be the DarkRP base or some incredibly ancient parts of VWAR / CGPP written before I hit puberty (by people who little to no formal CS education before writing it). Our modern standards have greatly improved the code we rely on to keep things running and performing well, but it's hard for people to find motivation to go around updating and optimizing old code they don't remember anything about (or written by someone who left the team).
Unfortunately, we can't just magically make the servers better by switching hosts.
