Content Suggestion SCP-1162 Improvements

Content Suggestions will be reviewed by Content Team weekly, please allow time as not everything can be reviewed at once.
What does this suggestion change/add/remove:
Makes a few improvements to 1162, namely:
  • Make it so that cards dropped by 1162 are assigned to the person who interacted with 1162, not the person who picks the card up
  • Makes cards dropped by 1162 just look and work like normal keycards - get rid of the weird in-between state that's buggy and just makes it hard to tell which card it even is
  • Makes it so that cards dropped by 1162 somewhat make sense for the job you are on
    • For D-class and non-Foundation roles, select the keycard randomly (i.e. it might say GSD Guard and be CL2, or maybe Chef and be CL2) from a pre-configured set of possibilities
      • Maybe just select from all non-event jobs' default keycard configs, and then a random chance for the clearance to be increased or reduced by 1 level
    • For Foundation jobs, a chance that you get the same randomisation as above, but a greater chance that you get one that somewhat matches your current job
      • E.g. a GSD Officer has a higher chance to get a GSD Officer, Guard or Cadet card than other types, a Tech Expert has a higher chance to get Tech Expert, Engineer or IT Technician. They might still get others, but lower chance.
  • Make it so there are different loot pools based on your job
    • E.g. a Researcher of some kind is more likely to get a random empty or half-filled flask than a weapon, a D-class is more likely to get things like weapons, keycards, TE-5s, etc.
    • Ideally configurable by SL, maybe tied into VJobEditor

Has something similar been suggested before? If so, why is your suggestion different?:
Not to my knowledge.

Possible Positives of the suggestion (At least 2):
  • Makes 1162 more interesting and varied
  • Makes 1162 make more sense in RP
    • Why would a random Jr. Researcher be getting a Groza or whatever from the hole? That implies they'd previously had and lost a Groza, which is unlikely.
  • Makes the keycards gotten from 1162 more varied and useful in different ways
  • Makes the keycards gotten from 1162 actually make sense and not be buggy as shit

Possible Negatives of the suggestion:
  • Balance concerns

Based on the Positives & Negatives, why should this suggestion be accepted:
1162 doesn't currently make much sense and has some issues, especially around dropped keycards. It could really do with improvements like these.

Why would non-D-Class Foundation jobs be using 1162?
Most situations I can think of are just FailRP - The only jobs I can see using 1162 with valid RP context are D-Class... Maybe AO? Then civs, CI & GOC.
Mainly just to cover all bases. It's rare, but it does happen, and when it does, it should actually make sense. Right now, you've got shit like you interact with the hole as a Techie and it'll give you an automatic weapon. Like yeah, sure, that makes sense. I lost my Groza the other week and was looking for it, glad the hole that returns things you lost has returned this to me.

techies and other minges like hole for shiny cl4 and 008 hold (this happened recently with like 5 armed trainees and they had a chef hostage lmao) it’s going to be used by minges more often than any other use case

And why would Techies be using the hole? Outside of a sanctioned usage (of which I struggle to find a valid RP contextualisation to permit a Tech to actually use 1162) that also doesn't make any sense, and is just straight FailRP. Content should not be balanced around the misuse of said content. It should be designed with misuse in mind, i.e. Implementations shouldn't make misuse easy - But something like this is going out of your way to add something specifically for use cases that have no real sensible RP basis.

So far your examples have only been Staff matters.

Abuse of SCPs is not always a staff matter, it is often just an ISD matter.
