What makes you the best candidate for Overseer Assistant?:
I’d make a great overseer assistant due to the fact I’ve already managed to become a part of a lot of story lines and events. I manage to always be somewhere at the right time right when something is happening. On top of that I have been a part of almost every aspect within the foundation despite never being on the job itself, (LE, ERT, RSD, Medical, ISD, GSD, E11, SA, SI assistant, Ethics assistant assistant, Techy, Nu-7? Kinda?)
On top of that I love documenting and writing, with the plans I have for Benrey I want to utilize the trust and friends I’ve made to document everything. Write down my daily observations and report them back to the O5 member I work for.
And my whole experience with this site has been doing exactly what this job entails, working for someone higher than me. I have been almost everyone's assistant, I know how the hierarchy works. I know how to keep my own identity as my own character while actively following orders and doing what's requested/expected of me. I also know when to step back, when not to pry, and when not to ask questions. (Though, that last part is more of the ‘D Class’ mentality, I feel it can work well for roleplaying a slow ease into a new position.)
What are the responsibilities of Overseer Assistants in RP?:
Well, of course we are to assist the O5 council as requested, as well as remain professional to the public eye and insure to follow the code of conduct. As well as signing documents on their behalf, holding and informing them of conversations and things noticed on site. They are also to explore the site and witness things throughout the day to report back to their O5 member.
Though these are mostly ‘job’ responsibilities. When it comes to the roleplay aspect of the server I think assistants should attempt to represent their O5 member accordingly while also keeping a good sense of self and character, they aren’t meant to be a carbon copy of who they work for. But being able to build their character enough in a way where that connection can be obvious to the public. Lets say someone is wanting to talk to a specific O5 member, and you see so many assistants on. How do people know which one to ask? Of course you can ask any, but it's better to be aware of who’s working directly under the one you wish to speak to for they most likely know their personal boss more than the other assistants.
I also think assistants have the amazing opportunity to create smaller, shorter roleplaying scenarios on a daily basis, while being able to contribute to larger overarching storylines. They are in a position directly under SI with contact and connection to the employees on site. This gives them the unique ability to create fun little things and dynamics. Especially if you are able to become well known and liked by the employees.
Why do you wish to become an Overseer Assistant?:
Throughout my time on the site I have been an assistant to literally anyone and everyone who would take me. Being in an assistant role is just natural at this point and honestly really fun to me? I am content with continuing to do what I do as a D Class but… I am directly correlated with a man by the name of Andrew Snow. We are in an agreement that above all else I will be his assistant. Though it goes further than that. There is a certain trust that got built up in that time, as well as story lines we both intend on following. So, if Andrew Snow does end up joining the ranks of SI I would love to work under him.
Though he isnt the only reason. As I stated previously I just love doing what I do already, being everywhere, seeing everything. Learning, knowing, observing. Being an OSA will be a lot like what I already do, just with the clearance and permission to do it. It’ll be less “Why does this D class blah blah blah” and more “oh it's an assistant that makes sense”.
And speaking on that its time to address the elephant in the room: Benrey Bowyels is a D class. This is another reason I want to aim for this position, for I would love to lead a roleplay on to how this came to be. How did a single D class become so popular? Overlooked? How did the phrase “Oh, its just Benrey” become so common in every situation a D class should have no part in? And now, that D Class has managed to become an OSA. How? Now that's a question we can dive into in roleplay, and I think it would be a rather fun one too. Giving many opportunities for not just myself, but for the O5 Council, other assistants, and D Class haters. Having a D class rise to this rank just opens up so much dialogue and roleplay in my opinion and I think we can all find a way to cook with it.
Please give some lore about your Overseer Assistant character and what storylines they would be involved in:
Now, buckle in. This is going to be a lot to attempt to dive through. I’m not going to go over everything, but I am a firm believer that the things one goes through shapes their character. So I’ll provide the core parts that I think really built who Benrey is today.
First I want to mention the whole D Class storyline with this. I have already managed to build up quite the odd storyline with Benrey, and his well, ‘Ability’ to exist without consequence. And I’ve been very open with GM’s and others to why the things that happen to him happen, and how everything just always seems to go his way. Whether it be an ‘Anomolous’ ability, or something else, this here is a concept I hope many people would like to mess around with and create roleplay around. And I would like to note, if you read Andrew Snow's app he did mention he seems to always “Attract Anomlys” - And, somehow I’ve managed to become glued to his side as his Assistant.
But if you want an explanation for what the above means, allow me to enlighten you.
Since the moment I joined the site I managed to instantly make friends. I joined with the idea of “What would happen if a joyful happy go lucky guy just experienced the horrors constantly but remained joyful no matter what? Seemed weirdly excited to get tested on?” And thats exactly what I did. Of course as every starting D Class I was stuck in the ‘Inanimate CL1/2” Limbo for the first couple of days, until I went to my first actual test.
A Thaumatologist and a Cartographer had brought me to 457 to see if there were other ways to stop the flame. That's when they sent me in, I caught on fire, I ran out. I was on the brink of death, a hair away from the other side, before being transported into another dimension. And to everyone's shock I lived. At the time I didn't realize the impact of that, but the two’s excitement quickly made me realize they had discovered something that would be used for the rest of my time here. Being transported to another dimension stops the flame of 457. Yes the idea wasn’t my own, but just the fact I managed to be a part of what they seemed to think was a groundbreaking discovery was enough to make an impact on me. It was only the beginning of managing to always be around the big things happening.

Since that day I really started to work more with the RSD department, switching from my usual janitor duties to be the occasional researcher's assistant. This is how I came to originally meet a man by the name of John “Bean” Atkitson. After working a few times as his assistant he offered me a document, a program they had within RSD that would hire me as his permanent assistant. I originally asked to think on it, stating how I didn’t want to be tied to one thing really. Plus back then I was far into being a janitor.
Unfortunately I wasn’t given much time to think. I guess the one good thing about Bean no longer being with us today is he can’t get in trouble for anything he’s done, so I might as well tell the whole story.
Immediately after stating I would like to think about it overnight, there was a gun to my head. I signed the contract quickly at that moment, and next thing I knew I was walking by his side as if nothing even happened. Even if it wasn’t originally by choice, I don’t regret what happened there. My relationship with Bean after that was odd, occasionally hostile, but I would be nothing without him.
The opportunities that contract opened up for me is exactly what led to where I am today. It made my name known, it started the incentive to get me out of D block as soon as possible. And it allowed me to really dive into the SCPs that we held deeper below. Despite all that good there was definitely the bad. I’ve come to learn I caught Bean at apparently the lowest time in his life, and in the position I was in? I took many of the blows that came from that. I’m not going to list every wrong he’s ever done to me, I’m not big on speaking ill of the dead. Though there is something that must be said.
I was already a prisoner, but I didn’t mind that. I got to roam, to test, to see others. I had a choice in the way I was perceived and the friends I made. I never felt helpless as a D class, there was still a sense of control in my life. Bean taught me what it truly meant to have nothing, to be nothing. To be utterly hopeless in a situation and have no control over anything. I don’t entirely remember what it is that I did, but I do know it was a stupid choice. A poor time to try and be funny, to mess around.
He didn’t take it well. But he didn’t harm me, not physically. Instead he took something away, decided he needed leverage over me. Needed an easy way to control me. So he took my friend, my closest friend at the time. A researcher who had a large distaste for D Class that I had somehow managed to win over in our studies together.
Bean erased me from his mind.
He didn’t recognize me, and I will always remember the hostility in his eyes when he saw me again. No longer friend, no longer one to confide in. Just another filthy D class.
That is definitely one of my lowest days, as well the day I really learned my place in all of this. Even if I’ve grown and advanced since then, it's a lesson I’ll never forget.
That friend would be threatened numerous times throughout our contract, and Bean would always offer me with that choice. Conform or face consequences.
“There’s always a choice” Is a phrase he’d used often, to this day I struggle to know if he said that as some sadistic term to remind me of my lack of choice, or if he really meant it. Either way it doesn’t really matter, because it stuck. There is always a choice, and choices have consequences. That is but a fact i’ve come to learn.
And when Bean did pass, I realized just how true that statement was. Upon death my contract with him was void, Josh moved up to a different position so I was practically a free bird. Yes I was still a D class, though I had much more reign than many others in my position. I really thought about that statement, on choice. I really did have a choice now.
And I chose to do everything. Every day became a choice of what to do, who to follow, what to learn. It was almost scary at how fast I started to go, how quickly I would get accepted into a new job. How many people started to know the name Benrey. I caught wind of the closest thing I could get to freedom as a D class and went with it. I pushed it to the limits, tested just how far that freedom can go.
And I could never predict just how far it would go.
I met so many people, I learned so much. I’ve lost a few as well. Done many, many things.
My life is full of choices, and those choices have their consequences. I find myself watching and observing the consequences, the effects. They aren’t all bad afterall, honestly they never seem to go poorly. Well, except that one time. I recommend not mixing anomalous liquids with Lean, the results are very… corrosive. And people might start accusing you of being an SCP, haha! Oof.

Story lines I will be apart of:
First off I have already made an entire lore for Benrey and the reason why he is a D class in the first place. There are hints to my in character description, as well as things I’ve dropped with other people. Upon looking at his file you will find police reports retaining his arrest. He was charged with 3 counts of vehicular man slaughter, grand theft auto, and driving under the influence. The police report explains that Benrey was found at the scene of a crash, in the driver's seat of a stolen vehicle. Benrey states he has no memory of the crash, which makes sense due to the fact he acquired a terrible head wound in the accident. In logs retaining to his trail Benrey pled guilty and admitted to the crime, even though he couldn't remember that night.
The truth about this incident is that he remembers exactly what happened that night, and so far only 2 people have learned that truth in character… And one of them is dead. I plan to have this backstory come up in befriended and getting to know others on site, and it has already been utilized in a storyline I am a part of with GM Janice's lore.
Speaking of Janice's lore, she has been involved with a long storyline including another dimension. When I had to go on LOA for 10 days here and I developed a roleplay scenario for why I had been gone, which was I got sucked into that dimension and stuck for 10 days. Since then I have been experiencing the effects of that event in game, and am now directly involved with her storyline and roleplay. These effects also create roleplay opportunities with medical and researchers.
Me and Andrew Snow also have an extensive long term storyline going on. Not only are we confiding in each other with the things that haunt us, but he is actively trying to help me through the unfortunate things I’ve gotten tied into. Almost everything he does I have been by his side, and we’ve made a promise. A pinky promise based on an old joke from my starting days, I wont give the details but we are both under the agreement that neither of us can die until we complete that promise.
I also really want to revisit something I used to do all the time- Back in my starting days I had created 6 issues of something called. “Diary Of A Joyful Janitor” where I logged my daily adventures in a dairy and printed them off for the masses to read. Apparently some people still have my copies- Which is very funny to me. Anyways, I want to start documenting everything as an assistant. I wanna write the days down, surround myself with the people I always do and just keep a personal archive of everything that's happened. Of course this archive would be given to my O5 member daily. (I will attempt to write them daily)
And of course we have the biggest part and probably first roleplay I would be included in if this happens: From D Class to OSA. Just this alone offers a wide range of interesting roleplay, especially considering how many people on site know me as a D Class. Specifically with the process of thai thoughII want it to be known I don’t wanna just suddenly be OSA. Nah, that aint right in my book. I am very big on roleplay, very into creating characters and allowing character development through the events that surround me. I will not accept any way of becoming OSA unless it is realistically roleplayed out. That is also a roleplay I look forward to and will openly put into the hands of GM’s and the O5 council: How did a D Class get here? Of course if Andrew Snow does end up getting the spot we can easily tie my on boarding into that, but if not I know we can come up with something.
Another thing with this is tackling other ideas. Like the ability to occasionally still flag on D Class, perhaps as a sort of cover, or whatever. Am I fully putting behind my D class ways and becoming an OSA? Or will I still be a D class occasionally? And if so what happens to any info I pertain. Will I just be a CL4 D class when not being an OSA? It's a lot to think about and consider, and I am fine with any way it goes. Though, I prefer to follow the flow of RP and see just where it leads me.
