What O5 role are you applying for, and why (give the specific O5 number):
O5-4
Ever since I have came to the server I have always considered and wanted to be apart of FCOM and especially O5, as I learnt more about the role they have in the server. Being able to be in a role where I can create RP in many departments is always something I've wanted to do, and I have the O5 to thank for some of the major RP I have created in my time being in RSD, and I would like to be able to be that person for other people in the server by giving people ideas, making events, and just generally being present in the server.
I would like to be a member of O5 that is often on the ground and provides a good line of communication for other people, and open to discussions whenever necessary, as well as trying to create as much RP as I can.
I am aware that my demeanor may not be "traditional" for what you'd expect from someone in O5, but I would like to be a little different to what you'd "traditionally" expect from O5, although not completely out of the expectations of course.
What makes you the best candidate for the O5 Council?:
Relating to why I think I would make a good candidate for O5, there is a few reasons I would like to state. For starters:
Confidence in leadership:
During my time as an Executive and especially DoR, I has help me build VITAL skills in leadership roles, such as my general confidence in discussions of how to improve departments, what can be introduced, and when interventions are needed for people who are not fit for roles. This is combined with my brief time as consultant, in which I handled and taught a lot of new players how to perform the fundementals of the server as well as their role in the department.
Creation and leadership of roleplay scenarios:
As Executive and DoR, I have been responsible for creating various RP scenarios and events held by GMs, as well as non-GM RP scenarios. A few examples I can give have been my 008 crosstests for my own RP scenarios, in which I created the tests and was able to create RP for several departments, including some RP scenarios that continued even after the test/event concluded. I have always encouraged different tests as well, as I believe they can often bring RP even if the ideas seem somewhat absurd. In my mind, as long as there is a solid document and idea behind it, there is a very decent chance it can make good RP.
Additionally, I have helped have a leading role in events even before I held an RSD leadership role, in which I feel I had very solid confidence and leadership in.
Time as Director of Research:
In my time as DoR, I have been trying to encourage people to do tests outside of regular norms, I have always encouraged the use of GMs to create unique and fun RP scenarios for RP to be based off of, although it is also important to not have an overreliance on GMs, which I am aware of. I often have spent my time as DoR wandering around, trying to engage in RP scenarios and creating RP whenever I can, even if small. Through these efforts, I have seen some very unique tests and RP scenarios be made, sometimes from people I wouldn't even expect it from. As an O5, this is the type of thing I'd like to encourage around ALL departments.
Time as Consultant:
Despite my time as a medical Consultant being brief, I took pride in helping reinforce peoples characters through medical RP, which oftentimes was a creator for various small-scale RP scenarios, which I took pride in creating. I have always someone to take care of writing things medically, especially relating to Psych evals, as I see them as a good opportunity for people to really delve into the details of their characters.
What are the responsibilities of the O5 Council in RP?:
The main responsibilites for O5 typically are:
Managing and giving orders to A-1/OSAs
Naturally as a member of the O5 Council, I would possess the ability to utilise assistants and A-1 to help perform administrative duties, through a combination of diplomatic and combative techniques. This ranges from assistants signing documents on behalf of myself, bringing documents or proposals to me either directly or through something like a dropoff cabinet, and completing work under my direct orders, such as finding out information or kidnapping POIs.
A-1 serve to be that tool both myself and the OSAs can utilise for these actions. When they are not following orders from myself or an OSA, they will serve as direct bodyguards to myself, aiding me in any tasks I wish to fulfill outside of the floor. Naturally as someone in O5, I would possess the ability to give orders to A-1 as someone at the top of the command chain within A-1.
Maintenance of the veil
Through the utilisation of A-1 and OSAs the O5 should be working with various bodies like ISD and IE in order to contain large-scale info-breaches, as well as keeping the knowledge of the Foundation hidden from the general public. OSAs serve as the eyes and ears of the O5 council, and should be reporting any potential concerns of treason, risks to OPSEC, and other major threats to the veil to the O5 so that it can be appropriately dealt with.
Being a major part of administrative duties
As a member of FCOM, in RP members of the O5 are responsible for communicating with other administrative bodies like the Ethics Committee and Site Administration in order to resolve outstanding issues, such as GOI relations, funding, and passing policies, among other things. The O5 serve an important part in this, as they often work directly with the high ranking bodies of foundation, like the Site Director and the ECM/ECC. Typically in relation to these things, O5 can have the final say when inacting policies.
Authorisation of various equipment and utilities
In place of Site Administration when there are none available, the O5 are able to utilise and authorise the various methods to help contain severe breaches, even up to being able to deploy the Alpha warhead in the event where a breach is too severe for the site to remain intact. They possess the ability to both auth AA (Advanced Armory) and call ERT.
What are the responsibilities of the O5 Council out of RP (e.g. what applications do they handle?):
The O5 council handle responding to OSA applications, as well as discussing director applications collectively in order to decide if they believe them to be a good candidate for the role.
Additionally, they are the final people you go to in regards to concerns regarding individuals, such as OOC complaints about people like OSAs and SDs that can be resolved with moderation intervention.
They are also responsible for deciding on who in A-1 is a suitable candidate for A-1 commander.
On top of all these above responsibilities, they should also be providing clear and helpful feedback for applicants, in both acceptances and denials.
O5 members should also communicate with RP leads like Directors and MTF COs/REGCOM in order to help organise, create, and maintain RP. Utilising the event team for this is also a good call.
Please give some lore about your O5 character and what storylines they would be involved in:
Little bit of a lore document for Laurence becoming O5-4 here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1eiiMgEjCsdnTQxQbhxd_LuErQ2HvryUNqFZvgO1C49Y/edit?tab=t.0 Im aware is simple, but I wanted to leave it quite vague on purpose.
(Laurence primarily has been one that lacks understanding of what makes humanity humanity, so his perception of ethics itself has always been warped, despite his seeming care for human life. This is naturally what I wanted to get across with his increasingly more dangerous cross-tests, in which he does wish to gain valuable information, although usually at a gross cost of life, although this is something that unconsiously he understands the cost of.
