What does this suggestion change/add/remove:
Changes how panic buttons work by making them silent on the users end when they press it, while still playing the audible alarm for others. (And displaying the message in comms still of course)
Has something similar been suggested before? If so, why is your suggestion different?:
Not that I could find no. I only saw suggestions for locations being added.
Possible Positives of the suggestion (At least 2):
- More accurate to how a panic button would (realistically) function
- Less site staff being shot because CI or someone is threatening them, and now knows they’ve alerted others
- Can be used for more than just foundation
Possible Negatives of the suggestion:
- Someone from CI, GOC, F, could be disguised and complain they never heard a panic button, so they never knew they might be in trouble or suspected to be fake?
- People might press it on accident and not notice, causing some panic (haha, get it)
Based on the Positives & Negatives, why should this suggestion be accepted:
It’s not that large of a change, nor does it really affect gameplay too hard either.
Theres been countless times as a researcher or non combative I had to panic button due to being kidnapped or threatened, and the person doing it instead of committing to the kidnap or RP just killed me on the spot.
Most of the time its just someone shouting “Don’t move don’t reach for any weapons don’t panic button or use any comms devices” and they kill you when you use the device thats meant for that situation.
Realistically, a panic button shouldn’t be making noise at all, as to not escalate a situation by blaring an alarm.
Plus this benefits CI and GOC too, if they’re ever doing a DC or a raid (or being raided), kidnapped, etc. They have the same advantage and therefore shouldn’t complain.
