I have edited your post slightly as you are not supposed to mention the communities that you were staff in prior, just that you were staff somewhere else.

I think you take too many things people say to heart. But that you do strive to help provide the best possible experience for those under you in research, even if it gives others above you a headache. I don't necessarily think that is a bad thing. Pushing and prodding to better your department...
