What does this suggestion change/add/remove:
Adds a discord channel in the SCP-RP Discord called #engineering-comms-<uk/usa> that would be accessible via role selection (the same as how Research, GSD and Medical can be right now).

Optionally, adds an additional channel called #engineering-announcements-<uk/usa>. This channel would be viewable to all that had the selectable engineering role, but only Site Administration+, SL+, and GM+ would be able to post in the channel.

Has something similar been suggested before? If so, why is your suggestion different?:
A previous suggestion to add a TeamSpeak and in-game comms channel for the department was accepted and implemented. Other engineering related suggestions have been rejected or ignored, but the aspect of specifically just adding a single Discord channel per server hasn't been addressed (though it has been included as part of larger suggestions that were rejected for reasons unrelated to the Discord channels).

Possible Positives of the suggestion (At least 2):
  • Allows players and event team/GMs to much more easily arrange RP related to engineering roles
    • It is currently very difficult and essentially just has to be done entirely in-game or via messaging individuals.
  • Provides a channel to talk about past, present and future RP, allowing improvements, suggestions and the like to be made
  • More potential RP, and improved RP, is better for everyone, not just people that play these roles
  • Does not require any dev work

Possible Negatives of the suggestion:
  • Two (or four) more channels for SL+ and Platform Team to scroll through in the channel list

Based on the Positives & Negatives, why should this suggestion be accepted:
This would allow more RP to take place, and allow for better RP to take place, for very little work. As this only involves Discord channels and roles, this can also be later easily rolled back if this change is no longer desired, or if the channels go unused.
