What does this suggestion change/add/remove:
Do either or both of the following:- Add the vehicles available to civilians, to the vehicle spawn lists for Foundation, CI & GOC (With significant limit; Maybe like only 1 or 2 max, don't let Nu7 & DEA spam it)
- Allow Nu7/DEA, CI & GOC jobs to use the civilian vehicle spawn NPC in Pinewood (Unsure how to reasonably police this)
Has something similar been suggested before? If so, why is your suggestion different?:
This is a direct re-opening of Bill Nye The Guy's suggestion from a year ago, to essentially do the same thing.Denial reason -
I really only agree with the cyanide thing and the current limits in place for vehicles for performance reasons - But we have the auto despawner, as well as if someone is abusing this, they can just be taken into a sit. I think what I have to say here reasonably rebuts this. Each faction is meant to use the vehicles at their disposal. Providing an extra outlet for vehicles isn't quite needed, as there is a reason why limits on vehicles are in place. Your reason being to farm cyanide isn't quite useful either, and you should use your faction's supplies with caution.
Possible Positives of the suggestion (At least 2):
- Allows for more convincing undercover activities from DEA/GOC/CI operatives disguised as civilians - Which means they don't have to either walk, or risk using a Humvee/Vodnik that could give them away. You can argue that the owner of the vehicle literally showing which faction owns it would give them away, but using that info would be metagaming. Ideally, you would want it to say the name of whoever they're disguised as, but that's probably not feasible.
- As a result of the above, promotes more (non-combative) surface operations/interactions
- (If allowed to use the civilian spawner NPC) Prevents a metagaming concern where people can prove someone is disguised by trying to get them to use the civilian spawner - I mean this is metagaming/FailRP anyway and probably shouldn't be happening, taken to a staff sit, etc. I've never heard of this happening, but it is something that's possible currently; Like, you can't expect staff to catch everything and it makes sense as one of those things that could just be made no longer possible. It's small and probably not reasonably worth this, but whatever.
- Might be useful for events...? - The ability for F, CI & GOC being able to get and use civ vehicles might be a usable thing by GMs for an event; I've actually had an idea for an event I'd like to do at some point where what is basically a surface TG shows up, but their disposition is that they're afraid, confused and don't know what to do. My thoughts in that scenario link back to my first point where the factions could be scouting out Pinewood inconspicuously and find out about the TG that way.
Possible Negatives of the suggestion:
- Dev Time - Yeah, this is sort of a UI thing as it involves the vehicle spawner NPCs. I understand if this is too much work for something ultimately not really needed. Screw UI implementations.
- Abuse - There's still room for people to abuse this, same way they can with the current vehicle selection they have.
- Underutilisation/Unnecessary - As cool/nice as this would be, I can see that this would potentially not be used enough to warrant not implementing it.
