What does this suggestion change/add/remove:
I would like to suggest adding all of DEA jobs to the /mtf custom commsline, including Agents and Operatives if possible.
Why should DEA be added you must be asking right and why not simply use CL3 comms? It's because a large portion of DEA duties already requires direct coordination with MTF units (and other departments). And with this commsline added to them DEA can do the following in a much better way:
- Working alongside MTFs during CI main raids or Deep-cover raids and surface combat.
- Keeping combative units updated during special codes, hostage situations, SCP retrievals, and giving emergency callouts.
- Letting DEA CL4 personnel maintain coordination during incidents that would require their awarness.
- Helping DEA lead raids when they are leading one
The MTF commsline is already one of the most actively used communication channels among combative departments. Anyone who regularly plays an MTF regiment knows how important fast coordination and communicaitons is s especially since MTFs tune into the mtf radio leaving DEA in the blind for the most part. All of ISD already have access to it to fullfill their duties so why can't DEA be added?
Additionally, after the recent rules change where only DEA and MTF units are permitted to participate in main raids, using CL3 comms during main raids can create excessive clutter and slower response times to DEA. Giving DEA access to /mtf would significantly improve coordination and efficiency during raids and high intensity situations.
If there are concerns regarding misuse or unnecessary comms spam from lower ranks, a compromise could be:
Limiting /mtf access to DEA CL4+ jobs only, or restricting access to Senior Agents+ similar to certain other commslines.
I also discussed this suggestion with both UK MTF E11 and MTF Nu-7 COMs before posting it, and they did not appear to have any objections to the idea. But I am not sure if US would have any.
Has something similar been suggested before? If so, why is your suggestion different?:
I did not see any similar suggestion for the mtf comms unless I am blind.
Possible Positives of the suggestion (At least 2):
This would also help DEA and overall the site by:
1. Staying informed on GOI related incidents
2. Coordinating faster with responding MTFs
3. Reduce confusion during some scenarios
4. Improve cross-department teamwork overall
Possible Negatives of the suggestion:
I can't see any apart from:
1. Misuse of Agents/Operatives (Can be solved easily, even ISD agents have access to it, I am pretty sure)
2. Making the commsline more
Based on the Positives & Negatives, why should this suggestion be accepted:
Frankly, It just makes sense overall that the department that all GOI incidents would have direct access to MTFs commsline to be able to coordinate them. With the new rules. We are the only department allowed to raid alongside MTFs and we need to be on the same page. Having DEA be the only Department on a different commsline during a main raid is just going to be a mess. Plus, if you're worried about comms spam, just limit it to Senior Agents+ so Agents won't be able to clog it up and if it had happened, anyone could just ask a Special Agent to job ban the person who is doing in!
Both Nu-7 and E-11 COMs are cool with it, it’s a simple fix that makes life easier for everyone. A simple QOL suggestion for DEA.
