What does this suggestion change/add/remove:
This suggestion aims to add the ability to see which gensec is using which kit from the leaderboard. It would basically say that your job is: GENSEC Officer - Patrol Kit/Station Kit. As it stands, the only reliable way to check who is on what kit is by observing their weaponry, which isn't always a possibility due to said personnel being on escort or patrolling. This can cause some real frustration when you intend for GENSEC to Guard D-Block only to have to assume that all of the officers that are currently on the role are on the patrol kit as they are nowhere to be found.

Has something similar been suggested before? If so, why is your suggestion different?:
No.

Possible Positives of the suggestion (At least 2):
  • Gives people insight in what role is needed before flagging on as a GENSEC officer.
  • Helps GENSEC Leadership see who is supposed to be inside D-Block and who is missing from it.

Possible Negatives of the suggestion:
  • Meta Potential. I am currently not aware on whether or not looking up someone's role is against Server Rules.
  • Development time. Considering this is an external system that had to be implemented within the current Framework. I do not know if there are API calls for seeing someone's kit or if that is simply based on weaponry. Hence development times can be longer than expected.

Based on the Positives & Negatives, why should this suggestion be accepted:
If the rule side of things does not prove to be a problem, I see no reason for this suggestion to not be accepted. If there are concerns regarding rules, the caveat can be added that you need to see the person in-character to be able to see what kit that person is on. At that point, this suggestion would be beneficial as an OOC aid for my first stated benefit. Development times are a hunch on that regard and I am not able to make a definitive statement on it. I do feel, that in due time, this addition will be worth it and will save ALOT of people headaches (Including me).

I'd also be a fan of Captains being allowed to ask people to switch from either GENSEC loadout to the other. (may be possible to allow them to job-change in the same life by returning to spawn ?)

As they have authority over GENSEC and if more support is needed to maintain the proper functionality of the facility, namely D-Block, then they should have the power to do so.

Not sure what others think of the other things I added just there, but I do support the suggestion in its current form.

Wholely unnecessary bloat and more micromanagement. Loadouts do not need to be anything more than weapon preference.
The loadout already decides what role you are allowed to perform see here:

This suggestion is not asking for that. It's asking for them to be able to see the loadouts so they can effectively work with the current system & see who should and should not be at D-Block when they are requesting for additional units.

If there is one thing lacking from the new GSD rework it is the ability to view loadouts. This suggestion would be amazing to see implemented so that GSD leadership (myself included) could give out orders and lead more efficiently. Since now you have to ask the person to pull out there weapon if you want to know if you should station them at D-block or not. Really frustrating so please, make this a thing.

I do have to say that adding it to the tab menu isn't a good idea since you can't use it to gather information, otherwise it would be metagaming.

Addressing a few things:

1. Yes, your loadout determines your duties for that role. This was asked to be put in place by SL to prevent imblances within (ew) D-class RP.

2. Right now, you can only detemine somebody's loadout by either knowing what gun they are holding, or them submitting to a weapon check. So yes, a way to determine loadouts might be nice.

3. However, I believe the the tab menu is entirely OOC and having the wrong kit in the wrong area is IC. If the tab menu was.used for this purpose, I could use it for other IC reasons such as finally using it to determine if a D-class is disguised, which is sadly not allowed right now.

4. Not entirely sure of this because I'm not a dev, I just play the game, but since you wouldn't be able to use the tab menu, I think the only other options would be a model or name change, which might require an entirely new job. If there's a way to do it without making a new job then yeah, but again im just the player, the platform team will give better input on this.

Fair enough mate I was not aware this had been implemented. Thank you for informing me of this. I retract my -support but personally I still believe exercising good resource management renders this sort of thing obselete. I do, however, appreciate that GenSec ranges from very new players to longstanding community members so this helps provide more structure and as another member commented, if it was an SL directive to any degree, then I'm all for improving server health.

Suggestion Denied

Hi James,

Thanks for taking the time to make a server suggestion.
The Content Team has chosen to deny your suggestion due to the following reasons.

We believe this takes away RP from IA and GSD Leadership. It should be the responsibility of the captains to root out rulebreakers.

Your suggestion will now be locked and marked as denied.
