What does this suggestion change/add/remove:
= This change adds SCP 1471 to the server as a playable SCP similar to SCP 2295, 999, & 914. Due to the nature of SCP 1471 and how it appears in the lore, certain mechanics would have to be tweaked for the SCP to work.
In lore, SCP 1471 or "Mall0" is an app on a phone or other mobile device that slowly grows over time. It has different stages.
During the first 24 hours following the installation of SCP-1471, the mobile device will receive images taken at locations commonly frequented by the individual. After 48 hours, the mobile device will receive images taken at locations that were recently visited by the individual. After 72 hours, the mobile device will receive images of the individual in real time, with SCP-1471-A appearing within proximity to the subject.
Individuals with + 90 hours of exposure to these continuous images will begin to briefly visualize SCP-1471-A within their peripheral vision, reflective surfaces, or a combination of the two. Continued exposure to SCP-1471 after this point will cause irreversible and sustained visualizations of SCP-1471-A. Individuals at this stage have reported periodic attempts made by SCP-1471-A to visually communicate with them, but fail to understand or comprehend these actions. Currently, the only known treatment to reverse SCP-1471's effect is to eliminate the individual's visual exposure to these images for 90 hours after installation. To date, no apparent hostile activity has been reported regarding SCP-1471-A.
= Now, this wouldn't work in a real gameplay setting. No one is going to be on the server for more than 90 hours, so I suggest a few content tweaks. How it would work is that when a player selects SCP-1471, a random foundation member on site, excluding whitelisted personnel ( so any CL 4 ), will have their personal tablet be "infected" by a version of the Mall0 software, that being "MalO ver1.0.3". This will create a pop-up on their tablet with a special icon and allow the users to interact with "Mall0". It will follow the stages loosely, but still have core elements. The longer a player stays on 1471, the more they will be able to do, maxing out at 30 minutes to reach the final stage.
Stage 1 - Infection: Their tablet will display a "MalO ver1.0.3" icon and application. Opening the application will do nothing, and the app will be empty with no prompts. After a few minutes, checking back into the application will show pictures where the individual frequents, like Medbay, RSD wing, D-Block, Janitor's closet, HCZ, LCZ, or other spaces. D-Class will not be infected with the virus as they don't have tablets. The SCP player will have a spectator-like camera similar to SCP-049 and be able to fly around within a set proximity to the player. The closer and the longer they keep the camera near the infected player, the quicker the stages build up. Every time the SCP player completes a stage, an in-game chat notification should play, as if coming from the tablet. It should be a "soft chime" or "notification noise" to let other players know something is happening.
Stage 2 - Growth: The tablet will now show in-game pictures of the individual in areas where they are / just were. This will be sent to the player's tablet with a short cooldown to follow to stop spam. The SCP player would have to send 5 to 6 pictures to complete this stage. The player would also be able to "text" Mall0 on the tablet by personal messaging them from the tablet, or at the very least, RP "texting" them through PM messages.
Stage 3 - Manifestation: The tablet will now show the POV of SCP-1471 as if they were wearing a head camera. The SCP player would have a physical model that would walk around, but could walk through walls or doors like SCP-106. They are invisible to everyone except the person with the tablet, who can see their POV and any pictures they take, which will now include a "physical form" of SCP-1471 within the pictures.
Stage 4 - Realization: By this stage, the SCP player, SCP-1471, would be fully physical like any other player and have the power to turn invisible/visible whenever possible. Other players, along with the tablet user, would be able to see/interact with SCP-1471, and SCP-1471 would be able to talk, if only in short sentences. This would be at the end of 30 minutes of activity, and award full SCP XP. The SCP player would know where the tablet owner is at all times, and would be encouraged to hang around that player by this stage. To balance this, SCP-1471 would not be able to interact with the world, aside from picking up objects with the grav-gun. They would have no key card, not be able to engage in combat, and not be able to be harmed, similar to SCP-073. To counteract the keycard, they could teleport to the affected player after a short cooldown, and when they are invisible, they have no hitbox, and players can pass through them.
This SCP is passive and should not be griefing or obstructing other players. If they are breaking the rules, MTF or E-11 can "recontain" SCP-1471 by asking for the tablet's owner and running a "program." This would then send SCP-1471 back to stage one, where they would have to wait an additional 30 minutes to build back to stage 4. This would be an in-character exchange that would need a special command, as SCP-1471 cannot be "beamed" in the traditional sense like regular SCPs. This SCP may even be a whitelisted SCP role requiring the XK class SCP donation role. I would ask that anyone who bought the XK or higher would be able to play this SCP.
Has something similar been suggested before? If so, why is your suggestion different?:
= Not to my knowledge, no. I know others have asked for passive SCPs like this in the past, such as Josie the 1/2 cat, which was recently an event SCP. If this can't be added as a passive SCP, then perhaps this model can be used as an event SCP.
Possible Positives of the suggestion (At least 2):
= Unique gameplay compared to other SCPs on site. It can be PAC 3 approved for different variations to the model ( within reason, following PAC 3 guidelines ) and could be a very cool yet possibly spooky SCP to play. Players may not realize their tablet is infected and may not realize SCP-1471 is following them, making stage 4 scary when you see a figure for a split second disappear from view.
= Positive RP would come from a new SCP to play and test on, with a new chemical or a previous chemical being given a home with SCP-1471 sampling. It would also be cool to see SCP-1471 interacting with Foundation personnel, be it a janitor, all the way to CL-3 individuals.
Possible Negatives of the suggestion:
= Greifing is always a possibility, but SCP-1471 should be an SCP that is super easy to RC and has a steep punishment for being RC.
= Implementation may not fully work within the server, but emergent issues are common when adding something new. There needs to be express rules created by the staff team to counteract metagaming, especially if SCP-1471 cannot be damaged or RC by anyone else but MTF or E-11.
Based on the Positives & Negatives, why should this suggestion be accepted:
= SCP-1471 is a very cool SCP that has a lot of potential. If done right, it can add a lot to how players roleplay on the server, and give passive SCP players a new SCP to experiment with. My model isn't foolproof, but additional content or content redactions should be openly discussed by both staff and players. I know I'd play the model I have set up, since I personally would love to have this SCP on site, but others may not like it, and I'd love to hear why. It would be nice to have a strange, new SCP to play with & test on. I also think it'd be really funny to just follow someone around as a weird monster, kinda like how 999 plays.
