Steam ID: STEAM_0:1:99586379
Age: 21
For how long have you played on our servers?: About a month
What country are you from?: USA
Time Zone: EST
Do you have a mic?: Yes

Is this your first application for Developer? If not, link previous ones: First

Have you received any bans?: No

How confident are you with GLua? (Rate yourself 1-10 using rating guide): 7.5

Do you have any experience with Git?: https://github.com/azaraunknown

Do you have previous experience as a Developer for GMod?: Most notable to mention is Synergy Roleplay Senior Developer. My main tasks were doing a decent amount of the heavy lifting on updates as well as code reviewing all projects before they made there way to the main server.

How many hours can you commit to developing per week?: 10-20

Why do you want to be a Developer? What can you help us with?:
I've enjoyed my time on the server and would like to be able to contribute beyond simply playing. I have found myself invested in the community with the goals I have set for my RP positions and want to expand my work within civil. I have always enjoyed creating complicated projects from the ground up that other people interact with on a daily basis. I enjoy taking concepts and making them into a finished project. I can contribute to civil because I have experience making large scale systems and small/simple QOL improvements. I can help because I don't really care what project is assigned to me I can do anything that is needed of me. I also enjoy working with other developers (newer or more experienced) and either helping to teach them or to learn from them.

To talk about my work: Most of my previous work was developed directly for private communities, so I cannot make the repos public. However I would be happy to walk through the projects and code one on one during an interview. Some notable projects I have worked on include a staff system, radio system, emote wheel, and custom load order management script, and finally an in game NPC that allowed players to exchange currency to influence future update ideas.

What is public on my github: A quick recreation of the in-game emergency box system as well as a simple playtime tracker.

As a subject matter expert (having worked on the development team with this man as my supervisor)

This guy is an absolute powerhouse of any development team he’s on. His code is immaculate, easy to work with and robust.

as someone who has worked extensively with Azara, including him reviewing my code extensively as well as myself quality assurance testing his code and projects, Azara's work is consistently clean, concise and most importantly, highly functioning. I believe he will be a credit to any server he joins and CN will greatly benefit by his work.

As a person that has worked with Azara for many months I can say he is very good at what he does. I've learned some basic coding skill from him. He always keeps it very clean and organized in a way I can understand. I think he will do extremely well as part of the dev team.

I did QA for a lot of Azara's projects and can confirm that not only is his work good, but he is very receptive to feedback and requests. When something needs to change, Azara will make it happen and do it well.

Application Denied

Hi @Azara

We'd like to thank you for taking the time to make a programmer application.

Unfortunately, we have decided to deny your application.

First of all, asking all your friends to +support your app doesn't make it look any better. Additionally, your mixture of using lua sending and net messages for server -> client communication is just confusing, sending lua will make any stack traces or whatever way more difficult to debug in the future, on top of it just not being the way to do it.

Your variable naming can make the code harder to read, it'd be way nicer to just keep it as "config" rather than making a new locals called c, d, a or whatever. If you're planning on re-applying, please have a look at the coding standards provided in the application format.

You may re-apply in three months.
