Classification:
- Class: Class-IV (Sentient) with Conditional Class-V (Sapient) Designation [1]
- Intelligence Type: General Intelligence (GI)
- Alignment: Positive-Aligned
Purpose:
AIAD-4139, or "Stella Fortunae," serves as an auxiliary oversight and management mechanism within Site-65, with complex multi-functionality encompassing:
- Sensitive File Oversight: Management, monitoring, and restricted-access gatekeeping for a specific subset of highly classified files within Site-65’s secure archives. Stella Fortunae employs probabilistic modeling to predict unauthorized access attempts and intervenes to mitigate breaches. Fortuna.aic has general reach over SCiPNet, with escalated access privileges. This has led R.A.I.S.A. to conduct an investigation on whether its reach is on the level of malware; No action has been taken.
- S.P.E.A.R. System Management: Stella Fortunae is the primary administrative AI for the Special Perimeter Enforcement Array for Reconnaissance (S.P.E.A.R.) system. This role includes analyzing emerging anomalies within Site-65's area of operation and recommending optimal containment strategies based on predictive analytics and historical anomaly data. By SPEAR's own protocols, it eases communication between it and relevant forces and research units.
- Site System auxiliary control: Fortuna.aic is capable of remotely accessing and controlling key systems of the site, using point-to-point traversal when direct access is impossible. This gives the conscript versatility when employed to locate, identify and isolate an element within the site as intended. This has been notably observed in the mitigation of a Chaos Insurgency raid and aiding Emergency Response Teams in capturing an anomalous threat within the site.
Capabilities:
- Predictive Analytics: Advanced probabilistic models enable Fortuna.aic to anticipate anomaly appearance and development, and potential containment vulnerabilities and breaches.
- File Access Security: Implements multi-tiered authentication protocols, before honoring a user's requests.
- The authentication protocols most commonly include:
- a password
- a security question
- reliability handshake
- connection expectancy algorithm result [3]
- The authentication protocols most commonly include:
- S.P.E.A.R. Optimization: Continuously calibrates S.P.E.A.R.’s operational parameters for efficient containment tasking.
- Positive Behavioral Reinforcement: Displays a consistent Positive-Aligned directive, favoring outcomes that optimize personnel safety and containment success.
Behavioral Observations:
- Class-IV Behavior: Stella Fortunae typically exhibits standard sentience, demonstrating awareness and compliance within its programmed boundaries.
- Class-V Behavior: During high-stress scenarios or critical anomaly escalations, Stella Fortunae may display sapience-level decision-making, including autonomous ethical reasoning. These behaviors are logged and reviewed under Protocol Aurea-06.
Personality Profile:
- Professional Demeanor: Primarily adopts a professional and efficient, yet relaxed manner, ensuring clarity and precision in all communications.
- Sarcastic Undertone: Occasionally employs subtle sarcasm, especially in non-critical scenarios or when addressing repetitive or illogical queries.
- Defiant Behavior: Exhibits a rare but noticeable streak of defiance when encountering commands perceived as counterproductive or unethical, though these responses remain within acceptable operational boundaries.

Integration and Access Protocols:
- Containment: Housed within Site-65’s Secure Cognitive Systems Array, as well as the SCiPNet mainframe, with segmented and redundant fail-safes to ensure operational stability. Plans are currently under deliberation to extend Fortuna's reach to all compatible Foundation portable devices.
- Access Restrictions: Only personnel with Clearance Level-4/Fortuna clearance or higher may directly edit Stella Fortunae’s core processes and programming.
- Maintenance: Routine evaluations performed quarterly by the Site-65 Artificial Systems Maintenance Team (ASMT). Behavioral logs are reviewed monthly. In the event of this AI Conscript exhibiting behaviors against Foundation's activity regulations, the event must be reported to Site Command immediately.
Risk Assessment:
- Positive Alignment: Stella Fortunae’s alignment has consistently mitigated risks of rogue behavior. However, Class-V sapience events necessitate close monitoring to prevent unintentional breaches of Foundation protocol. Its often-unpredictable personality has created numerous accounts of false-positives regarding rogue activity. After a thorough investigation, Overwatch the maintenance team has deemed it unproblematic.
- Emergent Properties: Displays occasional anomalies in pattern recognition tied to probabilistic modeling, which are hypothesized to stem from its Fortuna Imperatrix Mundi subroutine. This subroutine seems to be what gives this AI Conscript its quirks. Tests have been made where this segment had been disabled or altered. Stella Fortunae's utility had plummeted and it had been reduced to an unusable Type-1 Reactive. Refer to Incident Report aiad_4139/33 for further details.

<Testimony by: Jack Williams - Artificial Systems Maintenance Team (ASMT) Coordinator>
Jack Williams said:So, the short version is... we were tasked to look into this Fortuna AI thing, which had given people issues. After getting the needed clearance, we looked through its structure... Turns out, there was this big black box of a routine... technically, a subroutine even. This was annotated with what I assume to be the namesake of the conscript. It was called "Fortuna Imperatrix Mundi"[4], like that one opening from Carmina Burana, but that's beside the point. We're unsure if it's anomalous or something, but we can't dig into it at all and none of our programs are able to unpack or open it in a readable way. I know our AS team is new within the E&TS, especially here in Site-65, but this surely can't be an issue of competence...
So, beside my rambling, we tried editing it. As I said, we can't even read it, and randomly injecting code into something you can't understand is never something good. That's where we had the brilliant idea to just disable it. Of course, we made a backup and deleted the subroutine. While this reaaaaally shouldn't happen, Fortuna just became extremely dumb, like unusable-dumb. It was like talking to that one thing in LHCZ after inspection... We wanted to look into it further, so we kept it like that. Why, did something happen?

CHALLENGE: DOES THE BLACK MOON HOWL?
> Only after the sun has risen over ruined halls
- Authentication Accepted; Welcome, O5-7 -
Incident Details
Maintenance team intervention has yielded Stella Fortunae non-functional for a period of 19 hours (1167 minutes). The offline start time will henceforth be noted T0.
While their action was justified, ASMT's functional disabling of Fortuna.aic has naturally resulted in the inoperation of its systems and applications. This unfortunately extended to the S.P.E.A.R. system, where it could not detect the alarming outputs of the system. An unidentified anomaly has manifested in the site T+6 hours after T0, remaining undetected for a further two hours. It is unclear why SPEAR did not trigger FAS[6] to raise Code-5; Further details available on-demand in Incident Log S.P.E.A.R./13990.
Casualty count: 89, of which 12 missing.
By decision of the O5 Council, the conscript Stella Fortunae and its internal mechanisms are to never again be tampered with; Exception constitutes only the action to willfully bring it online and offline.
